FINALLY.

Wednesday night is here and it couldn’t come soon enough. I think I literally whispered it in a dream I had right before I woke up, which is weird because who under 75 actually looks forward to it?

Me. Apparently.

Oy.

Anyway, tonight I’m going to some poetry reading at Java Jones with my friend Clary, which is going to be awesome because I love poetry and I love my friend. I mean, I love my friends, all of them, not just one in particular.

Regardless of the quality of poetry (knowing open mic poetry, it should be pretty fantastic) it’ll be fun to hang with Clary. I always have a great time with her and I think she’s going to really dig the poetry.

Anyone doing anything fun tonight?

If your life was a song, who would you want to remix it?

Recently you claimed on Twitter that you “Won the Internet.” How did you win exactly and were you given any prizes like a meme about you?

Have you considered remixing any songs that don’t traditionally receive remixes… like Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony or “Happy Birthday To You?”

What type of music do you listen to for fun? Just EDM or are your tastes broader than that?

How did you learn how to make EDM? Did someone teach you or did you teach yourself? Are available for lessons?

Zedd Interview

Woah. So I know I’ve been talking a lot about New York lately but the crazy thing about this city is that you can run into ANYONE at ANYTIME. After writing about how awesome his music is, I randomly ran into ZEDD, an awesome DJ/producer.

The guy was nice enough to take some questions from me and even let me film him answering. So for your enjoyment (at the very least, my enjoyment) please check out this interview with ZEDD.

HIPSTER

Let’s set the record straight:

I am not a hipster.

Annnnnnnnnnnnd that might be the most hipster thing I’ve ever said.

Am I a hipster? I don’t know. What is a hipster anyway?

If wearing tight jeans (WHICH ARE THE ONLY KIND THAT FIT MY FRAME), buying super sweet, limited vinyl pressings of Elvis Costello B-sides (well, old-school Elvis Costello), and drinking coffee drinks named after cities in Japan makes me a hipster…

Then so be it!

Maybe it’s time to reclaim that word.

Let’s take it back from those who would use it to oppress us!

Who else wants to be a hipster with me?

I used to be a non-believer. It’s true. I did not have faith and I would openly mock those that did. How little I truly understood…

But I have seen the light and let me tell you… it is glorious:

Music really does sound better on vinyl

(BTW I can literally hear you scoffing… literally).

I know it sounds silly in this age of digital music, with MP3s — (psh who even listens to MP3s anyways? It’s all about the FLAC) — but trust me when I say that there’s a richness of sound inherent to a good vinyl pressing.

Digital music can be crystal clear but it doesn’t have what vinyl has: a vibrancy, a warmth, a lived-in quality that reminds you that actual people made the music you’re listening to, not “ones & zeros.”

What albums do you have on vinyl?

BEST CITY IN THE WORLD

Are there any other cities besides New York? I mean, lets be real here. I know that there ARE other cities… but can any of them hold a candle to the sprawling, sky-piercing, concrete dystopia that is “The Big Apple”? Where else can you get a slice of pizza, a kebab and a cupcake all on the same block?

Side note: While you can get all those things on the same block in NYC, you don’t have to! And probably shouldn’t! Because, wow, I have discovered new levels of indigestion. That’s life in the best city in the world, I guess…
