The Blessing

Rate this book
After years of drifting, Trevor Warren's world comes crashing down with the news of his brother's death. Returning to his hometown in Evergreen, Colorado for his brother and sister-in-law's funerals, Trevor realizes he has but a moment to grieve before his nephew, Greyson, is thrust into his life. Becoming the legal guardian to Greyson will either be a blessing or a curse. His late brother, Dean, was the golden child--the perfect son, husband, and father--while Trevor was his polar opposite. Despite his rough past, Trevor pulls his life together to become the father Greyson deserves. Although he tries to be a better man, he never feels like he's good enough... especially for his neighbor, Veronica Clark.

Veronica "Ronnie" Clark is the picture of maturity and success. Despite having her life together, she's always felt as if something were missing. From the moment she saw Trevor, she knew he was trouble wrapped in a sinfully attractive package. While she would usually shy away from men like Trevor--something about his rugged appearance captivated her. His handsome face, gorgeous ink, and wounded aura may have caught her attention, but it's his giving heart that kept her yearning for more.

This is a book about acceptance of yourself. It’s also about loss and growing as a person but most of all about Love.

Trevor is a newly sober man who has come home to care for his baby nephew who he has sole custody of since his brother and sister in law’s sudden passing.

This book is raw and real and bittersweet. Trevor is trying so hard for baby Greyson, he’s a little clueless but he’s learning while trying to fix the relationship with his parents, at least his dad is supportive of him and so is a beautiful brunette across the hall named, “Ronnie”, Veronica. I love the steamy and sweet relationship they have. They are good for each other and Grey loves Ronnie too.

This book is a MUST READ! Amazing plot twists, drama, and romance to keep you going back for more. Trevor and Veronica are characters that you love to love! Add a baby to the mix and the book just gets better. I can see myself re-reading this book in the near future. Could not recommend this book more!

A must read by this author. It's her book debut, and she's pulled off this amazing story hands down. The story is fantastic, but be prepared to have your emotions pulled all over the place. Trevor's struggles will pull at your heartstrings. However, you'll be rooting for him to get his HEA with a his beautiful neighbor, Ronnie. They're perfect for each other. Little Greyson will just bring a smile to your face throughout the story. I'm looking forward to seeing more from this talented young lady.

Love ya much, Lizzie and congrats on your book release.

This book just seemed to drag on and on. I did finish it but it was with a lot of skimming. I almost DNF'd it.

The writing seemed a little stilted. It's nothing I can pinpoint but this book wasn't for me.

There was some drama over an ex-boyfriend that I think could of been omitted.

THE BLESSING BY LIZZIE LEE

For a debut author this book is amazing it gets right in from the start with your emotions, you feel for Trevor and wonder why his mother despises him so much, you want to be Ronnie and comfort Trevor. There is not a bad thing I can say about this book except if you don’t buy it you will regret it, go out right now and buy it

Lizzie has been able to get you to feel for every character even the evil villain mother Evelyn, you can understand why she is the way she is towards Trevor, you may not agree with it but you can understand it.

Trevor and Ronnie’s love faces challenges yes, but they are strong together and Ronnie Helps Trevor see the person he is on the inside not what he did in the past or what he looks like on the outside and I agree with Ronnie tattoos are hot

I loved all the family time of Trevor, Greyson, and Ronnie, I especially loved the pumpkin carving time and Halloween time. Ronnie gives Trevor his teen wet dreams come to life on Halloween

Lizzie can get to the root of addiction and how hard it is to be sober from any kind of addiction and how even someone clean for months the slightest sign of stress you crave your addiction like it was only yesterday, Lizzie lets you into the mind of Trevor and how it is a daily battle to stay sober from any addiction.

For a man like Trevor who never thought he would be a father let alone a good one Lizzie has written Trevor in a way the reader can see how naturally beautiful Trevor is with Greyson, but he does not see it for himself, simple things like knowing to soothe Greyson skin to skin contact does the trick.

You really do get to see how truly amazing Trevor is as a person both inside and out, how much he will do for others and what an amazing dad he has become to his nephew

I love how Lizzie builds up the suspense in Trevor telling Ronnie he loves her it is not the typical cliché way it is the Ronnie and Trev way and just so perfect.

Your heart bleeds for Trevor all the tragedy in his life all the secrets that come to truth from all the people that he loved and trusted, how these secrets effected his life and what he will do with the knowledge now.

Everything that Trevor has gone through just shows the strength of character Lizzie has written and how believable Trevor and Ronnie are. Lizzie has created a perfect balance of imperfection in all the characters within this book but especially Trevor in how over time he is able to forgive those that have hurt him beyond repair, but he does forgive, he understands why they are the way they are

Even Trevor proposing to Ronnie is just them, so perfect.

Honestly, this is one book you can’t do without this year.

If this is what you get from the author for her first published book I can only wait to see what fantastic amazing things yet to come from her. Job well done Lizzie

In her debut novel, Lizzie Lee deftly weaves a gripping tale of loss, love, and forgiveness. When Trevor Warren is entrusted with the care of his infant nephew after the sudden death of his brother, his world is turned upside down. With the help of his attractive neighbor, Veronica, Trevor not only faces the new challenges of fatherhood but also, a past that won't seem to go away.
The Blessing was a fresh and entertaining read. It had me hooked from page one and kept me captivated until the very end.

I look forward to seeing what Lizzie writes next. Highly recommend!

Lizzie Lee has done an amazing job with her debut novel, The Blessing. The hero, Trevor, is a young man with a lot of baggage, self-loathing, and obstacles to overcome. What he has on his side is sheer determination to do the right thing by the nephew he returns home to care for when his beloved brother is killed. Greyson is one adorable baby, and I found myself falling hard for the little guy and his devoted father. He might not think too highly of himself, and he might be a bit rough around the edges, but I could totally see why his pretty neighbor, Ronnie, the girl Trevor has been secretly fantasizing over, would fall for him and be willing to wait for Trevor to make a move.

There were a lot of questions raised in the beginning of the story that are eventually answered, as the various mystery threads are untangled. I'll admit, it took me a little while to get into The Blessing, but it was well worth it, as Ms. Lee has created a cast of incredibly likable and engaging characters. I look forward to reading more of her stories in future.

Trevor Warren's life has been turned upside down with the death of his brother Dean and his wife and he is left to be the guardian of Greyson. Trevor is recently sober and still struggles with making the right choices and how to be a good father to Greyson.

Luckily Trevor meets Veronica "Ronnie" Clark who is there for Trevor and Greyson when they need her to be. She is a great character who obviously cares for the two a lot.

Trevor has ghosts he needs to overcome and his dad was wonderful but his mom was so awful to him and I hated how she treated Trevor.

I found the book so long and I struggled through a lot of it. The book dealt with a lot of good issues but I found that so much stuff could have been left out in order to get through the book in a reasonable time.

This was a good debut novel but I just found that I struggled through a lot of it and couldn't get into it as much as I wanted.

Good

Otay y'all this book is great but its really drawn in places for me. At some points it seemed to go on forever. Trevor is a amazing guy but he doesn't know it yet and it takes most of the book for him to get it. But the way he takes Greyson on when tragedy strikes proves how strong he is. He has a few slip ups through the book but he truly does grow. Ronnie is his perfect counterpart and made for him. The way she takes on Grey the same way he does is amazing and its great to read. Seeing how Trevor works past certain parts of his life and becomes a good man, father and husband at end is awesome!!!

An absolutely amazing, beautifully written, incredibly gripping tale. This is a story of love, loss, redemption and, above all, family. I laughed, I cried, I screamed, I rejoiced.

Trevor is insanely flawed which just serves to make him more likeable as a main character. His doubt and self-hatred is something that everyone can relate to at some point (and if you disagree with me you're lying to yourself). His struggles to be a better man both for baby Greyson and for Ronnie are the heart and soul of the story (with the incredible romance being a close second)

This novel is breathtaking, engaging and real. A true joy to read and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

This book is written decently but it is clearly Twilight fanfiction, so much so that I can pick out the Twilight character that each character in this book is modeled after. I don’t oppose stories that were originally fanfic being published, but if you’re going to do so I think the author should do a bit of work to make sure it’s less obvious to the readers. The book was also much longer than it needed to be and I saw every plot twist from a mile away. It also felt like the author was attempting to use every issue possible just to make the book longer and complicate the main character’s life. Not the worst thing Iv ever read but definitely not the best either.

Challenging

An emotionally charged story that had me cheering for Trevor every step of the way. His guardianship of Grey and meeting Ronnie have been the catalysts but he chose every positive step he took to becoming the man his brother knew he could be.

This is my first book by Lizzie and can I just say that Trevor, Ronnie and Grey are the best? I liked the realness of Trevor and Ronnie's relationship. Yes, he was physically attracted to her, but he had the wherewithal to realize that he wasn't ready for a relationship right away. They built that friendship, that relationship between the two as Trevor adjusted to being an adoptive parent/legal guardian to Greyson. The growing heat (which believe me, there was a lot) happened naturally.

And that cover? A hot, tattooed Daddy with a sweet baby?! Beautiful!

I will definitely be reading more from Lizzie.

I read this book over Mother's Day, and the Prologue slayed my emotions! It's any parent's worst nightmare, that the Last Will and Testament they created would have to be read and used and the Guardian they appointed called into duty to care for their child. “I've never met his [my brother's] son, Greyson, but I love him already for one reason; he's one of the only pieces of my brother I have left.” The book starts with Trevor returning to his hometown to take custody of his nephew due to his brother and sister-in-law's death by drunk driver. The book takes us through his journey of “finding himself” and his struggles with his past, moving forward as an adult, and the hilarious ups and downs of suddenly jumping into parenting. The plot twists a few times with a major revelation at the end that causes Trevor major angst.

Trevor jumps into caring for his nephew with love and gusto. He's out of his element...a man returned from soul searching in California after leaving Colorado after high school graduation. But he never found what he was looking for in California except for warmer temperatures. He'd suffered a strange dichotomy of love and disinterest as a youth that left him an alcohol and drug addict. He's an interesting guy, who just wants to be loved and share his amazing capacity to love. He's just not well versed in how to be the best person he can be and we get to be along on the journey as he works through his addictions and learns to love his new family members.

Trevor and Ronnie have some spicy encounters! Ronnie creeps into Trevor's life as a lovely sight about town and manages to be there just when he needs her most. Like any parent can tell you, creativity is needed to get some adult snuggle time on. But despite the need to plan a sex life, they manage and their chemistry works very well for the book. Their passion is a shared feeling of trust and need! As Trevor and Ronnie figure out their love life, so does Trevor work on becoming a better person and great father... “Who knew a quiet moment in my bedroom with my son and fiancee could impact me so much? Such a simple thing could become something I'll remember forever.”

Once I understood the plot of this book, I wanted to love it! It was set in one of my states and tugged at my heartstrings. But the writing style made it hard to keep going, and while I waited to be sucked into the book and be unable to put it down...it took me multiple attempts to keep going. The writing seemed to be stilted and slow. I'm not sure if it was the vocabulary of the main character, as he used a lot of profanity that fit his character's hard and rough edges, but made it personally hard to flow. It did pick up and flow easier the last half.

The plot, characters and steamy interactions had a lot of potential! There were some fantastic plot twists and character developments and I really wanted to love this book. The flow is just off a bit, so I hope it's just me and others enjoy the book. I would be interested to read further books by the author as this is her first book.

This book is long, about 650 pages. In those pages you get a very emotional read where you can see the character go on a journey and grow. Maybe a little drawn out for me, but a very good read.
