A Pound of Flesh #1.5

Love and Always

Rate this book
Orange Is the New Black meets Jennifer Probst’s New York Times bestselling Marriage to a Billionaire trilogy, in this e-novella of love and redemption in the sensational A Pound of Flesh series.

When prison tutor Kat Lane met arrogant inmate Wesley Carter in A Pound of Flesh, it was hate at first sight. Carter’s quick wit and reputation for being as dangerous as he was handsome kept her at a distance. But as they grew to know each other as teacher and student in the New York prison, Kat found there was much more to Carter than she thought.

In Love and Always, Kat and Carter’s story continues as they share the news of their engagement—which doesn’t go over well with Kat’s mother. On top of it all, Carter has a new role as CEO of WCS Communications, which adds more pressure to his new life outside prison. Trying to juggle family, a billion dollar business, and Carter’s best friend Max’s rehab stint doesn’t leave much time for the happy couple to enjoy each other. How will Kat and Carter handle the pressures of marriage, family, and work—and keep the passion alive through it all?

Love and Always is a quick novella from the A Pound of Flesh Series. Kat Lane and the love of her life Wesley Carter are finally together. After overcoming their adversaries they are finally together and free to live and love the way that they were meant to live. However, when Carter is ready to take the next step with Kat, not everyone is supporting them in their journey of togetherness. This is one series that I can't wait to dig back into!

description Told in multiple POV, Love and Always is an extended slice of bliss for Kat and Carter fans. Although there wasn't much substance to the plot, the passion and romance are overflowing through every page. Carter maintains his bad boy disposition and Kat remains the only person who can tame "the beast". Overall, fans of A Pound of Flesh will enjoy getting more of this power couple.

This is a 70-page novella in which Book 1's main characters Kat and Carter’s story continues.

Review for Book 1:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Book 1 was totally epic but this one tastes like just bonus scenes for more taste. It picks up where Book 1 has ended - you know, he proposes, she accepts...

In this book, they share the news of their engagement with family and friends. Kat's mum causes a little discomfort when she learns the news of engagement.

There is a bit of news about Carter's friend Max, who is in rehab and some news about the bad guy Austin.

There are a few hot scenes of the lovely couple, of course.

So, long story short, you can read it or not, it doesn't matter, no gain, no loss!

I just don't want to rate this because Book 1 was epic and I don't know how I can rate this mini-bonus thing!

Love and Always is a sweet and sexy companion Novella and whilst it didn’t offer up anything especially enlightening, it did give us an opportunity to reconnect with the characters and there is no doubt fans of A Pound of Flesh who desired more Kat Carter will adore this small snippet of their life after A Pound of Flesh. We feel those readers will devour this one.

“You deserve her. You both deserve to be happy.”

We won’t say much about this novella because it does carry straight on, albeit a couple of months after, A Pound of Flesh and is to be read after that book – so we don’t want to spoil it for readers who haven’t yet experienced Kat and Carters story in book one.

What this book did provide, and what excited us, was an already eager anticipation for An Ounce of Hope, Max’s story when it releases in January. In Love and Always we were afforded glimpses into Max’s continuing struggles and his story is one we’re desperate to read. We find him to be a fascinating character and think this guy is going to break our hearts.

So, if you loved A Pound of Flesh, if you loved the sweet dirty talking Carter and the equally lovely Kat, if their romance stole your hearts, then enjoy this glimpse of their continuing story.

description Woman, you,” he growled, kissing her firmly on the mouth, “will be the end of me.”

Millet, herif süper ya! 😍

This feels like an extended epilogue rather than a novella. Anyway, my 4 stars rating is for the lovely characters.

A Pound of Flesh (A Pound of Flesh, #1) by Sophie Jackson is one of my 2015 favorites, so I was eagerly anticipating this book. This cannot be read as a standalone.

Basically, this is an extended epilogue. We get a small glimpse into the immediate future of Carter and Kat.

It took me only an hour to read this book. It is very short and that is one of the reasons I didn't give it a full 5 stars. The other is that we are left with Kat saying "It'll all be okay, Carter. I promise. He'll be okay." And Carter saying, "I hope so, baby. I truly hope so." I know that this was meant for a segway into Max's book, but I wanted more, more, more. I want Kat and Carter to be okay and to have the "traditional" epilogue ending(you know 2.5 kids, white picket fence, etc.) I NEED to know that they'll be okay:) Other than that, I had no problems with this book, just like the first.

This was very cute and sweet, but the way it ended ... really??? LOL!!! I expected more of a complete ending for a 99 cent novella about this main couple. There relationship is solid yes, but the way it ended was just silly. I did enjoy it, but now I want to read the next book. I hope Max doesn't let me down. I know he had a terrible break up and he was a manwhore after, but since in rehab and after, I hope he redeems himself.

Invece no!

I loved A Pound of Flesh and was so excited to see Carter and Kat's story would continue in Love and Always. This short book is more like an extended epilogue of Love and Always and a preview of Max's story. I really enjoyed this - there wasn't any silly misunderstanding, no angst, it was just very sweet and very sexy. This is one of my favorite book couples and I love that the author gave us more of a glimpse into their HEA. Can't wait for Max's story!

Eh. Not what I expected. This is more a long epilogue, than an actual novella.

I'm really happy to see there's more. These two are just too sweet for words.

Mal posso esperar! Quero a história do Max pra ontem!

I thought it would be a novella with more pages than it actually was. This book is more like an extension of the end of A POUND OF FLESH.
I like it a lot. I love the way Sophie writes and her so lovable characters. Carter is still the most handsome, cute, hot and in love guy I read about in 2015. He made me swoon and of course made me angry with the world because he is not real.
The next is about Max, Carter's best friend. Can't wait!!!

This is a really sweet read. A follow on from the wonderful A Pound of Flesh, it allows us the opportunity to catch up with Kat and Carter, seeing them together, happy and very much in love, and further adjusting to their new life together.

“I need you.”
“Peaches…You have me. You always have.”

There’s nothing ground-breaking that happens in this novella, it’s more of an extended epilogue, but there’s something really gorgeous about seeing these two characters together. They are so in sync with each other, so in love, and so incredibly passionate, I really enjoyed catching up with them.

“You’re everything to me.”
Kat nodded. “I know. That’s why I’m marrying you.”

There’s a bit of an introduction for Max’s book up next. The boy has some pretty big demons, and I’m really looking forward to diving into his story.

Not a must-read, but still enjoyable for fans of the first book.

3 stars.

This was a short but sweet novella, giving me the opportunity to catch up with Kat and Carter, and to see what had happened since their engagement. I absolutely loved getting to know this sexy couple in "A Pound of Flesh" and I was so excited when I discovered that I hadn't heard the last of them. I loved that Sophie Jackson was able to give me more of one of my favourite couple's in the book world.
"Every time I look at you tonight, I want you to imagine what I'll do to you when we get home, every position, fast and slow, hard and soft; I'm going to do it all, Peaches. And even when you beg me to stop, I'll keep going."

I loved catching up with Kat and Carter, even though it was short visit, it was still well worth the read. There was some sexy moments and some swoonworthy moments. It was just what I expected and I once again fell in love with Kat and Carter. It was so lovely to see Carter so happy and settled in his new life with his Peaches. Yes, there a few tiny hitches along the way but nothing could come between this couple. They were solid and I loved that. After everything they had been through together, it was a joy to see them so blissfully happy.
The world could have stopped for all Kat cared. She was never as safe or protected as when she was in Carter's arms.

I also got the chance to see how Max was doing and this led nicely into the next book of the series. I cannot wait for more from Max. He seems to be such a troubled soul and I know his story will be worth the wait. I am also excited for Kat and Carter's Wedding. so I'm keeping everything crossed that their big day will be in the next book. If you loved "A Pound of Flesh", I highly recommend one-clicking this one. I loved it!

"Love and Always" gets ❤️❤️❤️❤️ from me.

Love and Always was a sweet and romantic read.

We got to see a little more of our beautiful couple Kat and Carter and how life is going now they are engaged and making plans for the future.
They made my heart swoon with their love and how their passion will always burn brightly.

It was also a nice set up for the next book An Once of Hope. Max's story is going to be an emotional one and I cannot wait to read!

Thank you Sophie Jackson for giving us more of Carter and Kat, as a fan of your writing and characters you made me a very happy girl.

Molto carino...

This was an amazing read. I love Carter and Kat. I find their relationship really sweet and authentic. Also, I found this to be a nice edition to the series because it shows more of the pressures within their relationship. I can’t wait to read Book 2. This was a very sweet book. Loved the ending. Overall, an incredible read.

Originally posted at Booklovers For Life

This is a quick, short, and super sweet novella following up on Kat and Carter from A Pound of Flesh. I adored these characters in their book (my review here), and I adored them once again in their novella.

“You’re everything to me.”
Kat nodded. “I know. That’s why I’m marrying you.”

Kat and Carter have just gotten engaged, but they’re not quite at their HEA yet. They need to break the news to Kat’s mother, who isn’t exactly supportive of their relationship. Plus, Carter’s dealing with his best friend Max, who’s been admitted into rehab. Still, despite these complications, Kat and Carter’s love is still unwavering and going strong. As long as they have each other, they can weather through anything.

I really enjoyed this novella. It’s a bit too short, and I really wish there was more, but I liked what I got. Carter is funny, sweet, and sexy as ever, and I loved seeing him and Kat together again. I really liked that this novella sort of leads us up to Max’s own book, An Ounce of Hope, which comes out early next year. I was incredibly excited for his book, and this novella only made me more excited.

Fans of A Pound of Flesh should definitely check out Love and Always. It’s not completely necessary to read it, but Kat and Carter are just too sweet for words in this novella. This was like getting a bonus glimpse at life after A Pound of Flesh for the two of them. I had a smile on my face the whole time I read it!

Quotes are taken from the ARC and are subject to change in the final version.

Thanks to the publisher for generously providing me an ARC to review.

★★★ 1/2

Love and Always is a perfect novella for readers who wanted more of Carter and Kat after A Pound of Flesh. This short novella picks up right where A Pound of Flesh ended, and allows us to see the couple announcing their engagement and moving on with their lives.

As much as I adore Kat and Carter and want more of them, I felt this novella was really just a filler while we wait for Max's story. We really didn't get any new information, or any drama, just them being engaged and telling Kat's family. I did like how Eva finally realized that Kat and Carter are going to be together no matter what and seems to have accepted it. After all the drama she caused in A Pound of Flesh it was nice to see her being more open to them being together and not causing too many problems

Catching up on the lives of the other characters we met in the first book was awesome, and I did like seeing Ben and his relationship with Cater now, as well as seeing how Carter and Kat's relationship is with Beth and Adam after everything that happened previously with them.

I did enjoy Love and Always, but I wish we would have been given something with more meat to the story. I felt like this was a quick add on that could have been added to the end of the original book, as spoken about in Max's book. I do love Kat and Cater and hope we get to see more of them in upcoming books in this series though!

After reading Love and Always it makes me want Max's book even more now. I have a feeling with the little we got from Carter about what Max is going through, that his story is going to be awesome.

My Quickie Review:
This is a short and sweet little novella which is all it's meant to be. It covers a few days at Christmastime and serves as a little bookmark for where Carter and Kat are in their lives as they move into their engagement. The story allows the reader to catch up with where they are in their lives and gives a little bit more insight into how difficult things are for Max in rehab, although he's never on the page.

As a fan of the first book, it's nice to see this little peek into their lives, but there's not much real substance or point to this novella. It's simply that...a tiny tidbit with a bit more of Kat and Carter for fans. And as that, it's a fun read.

The best thing about it...that beautiful cover. I love how soft and romantic it feels...very reflective of how good things finally are between Kat and Carter. I do love to see them truly happy and fulfilled together. This novella is very satisfying in that regard.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I fell hard for A Pound of Flesh and so when I received this novella with a continuation of the story, I was so excited. Kat and Carter are so perfect for each other and the author takes us on an extended trip of their engagement announcement.

This is a quick read that offers the readers a deeper closure of their commitment to each other, the advancement of Carter in his business, and Carter's dedication and attention to his best friend, Max.

The heat and passion we loved in their first book is still there and this book opens many doors to future developments in the storyline. The author keeps this one light-hearted but offers us another taste of the couple that we fell in love with. I love the authors writing style and cannot wait for more.

If you loved A Pound of Flesh, and how could you not, you will enjoy this e-novella that will continue their journey into happiness, with a few bumps along the way.
