The real hero of this story is dead. You should have met him. He was a beautiful man. The love of my life. I didn’t deserve him.

Now what’s left are the jagged edges of the person I am without him, and what I have to do to get by. This isn’t even a story about love. Not really. It’s a twisted tale of revenge and hate—a happily never after.

The only man in my life now is the one I have to kill.

I’m Savvy Raine.

I used to be a wife.

I used to be a mother.

4 "You got some good in you" STARS

description

Debra Anastasia adds a very different type story to her writing collection with this novel. It’s about a mother who survived a car crash that killed her husband and young daughter and she’s struggling with her purpose and will to live ever since.

”Every morning, I get hit by a truck. Every afternoon, my mind gets to take a bath in lava. Every night is black. I don’t want to be here without them.”

description

Savannah Raine wants so desperately to hold onto her family yet can’t fully end her own life. The idea of having someone else do it for her spurs her to enter a bad part of town hoping someone will do it for her. To her shock, she then notices that she can see people’s auras and in this part of town she encounters some people sporting red ones, which means that you’re an evil or very bad person. She finds that when faced with a person with such an aura she has insurmountable strength and so she becomes a vigilante of sorts.

description

For each bad person she battles she receives another memory that's been forgotten of time spent with her husband and daughter. This course of action gives Savannah a purpose until the day she is taken by Silas Sagan. He black mails her into coming with him and is attracted to her fight and is connected to the accident that gave her the powers she has been wielding.

"You will be mine, you vicious bitch." He was strangely, irrationally drawn to her."

Silas’ interactions with Savannah and his growth as a character were a very big highlight in the story for me. He starts out as such a cold bastard and slowly through each interaction with Savannah he evolves into something more than the shallow man he was.

description

There’s an assortment of fantastically written characters who add layers to this super-heroine type tale. Savannah gets her powers from a chemical spill and along the way changes lives and finds her true purpose, while the cast of characters also evolves into their higher purposes as well.
Debra Anastasia delivers an entertaining, scientific but not hard to grasp story that at it's core delivers a fundamental yet important message.

”Make it count.”

MY RATING:

Witches do not hunt me down *whispers* this will be my first time reading anything by this author *Grabs witch repellent*

THE REVENGER: Starts off with her visiting the one year anniversary of her husbands and daughters unmarked grave and due to this Savvy is a woman on a mission to end her life, Toby her brother stays with her to keep an eye on her because on numerous occasions she has tried to end her suffering. It's definitely not a love story, it's a sick twisted tale about revenge, and redemption..

“Police are looking for more information and witnesses regarding the van vs. truck accident. The incident resulted in the death of a father and daughter. Anyone with information about the substance found at the accident is asked to call the non-emergency number at the Police Station”

I don't know her story but she's living in utter despair, one year later and the house is as if it was filled with a happy family, as if her husband and daughter will walk through the front door, nothing has been touched, his work shoes are still on display, her daughters room hasn't been disturbed..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I'm a mom without a reason. I’m a person without a life. I’m dead with no escape.

Holy crappers I have no f*cking idea what I'm reading..Chapter two has kind of thrown me down Alice in wonderlands rabbit hole!! There I was grieving along with her in chapter one, the next chapter she's off ripping a males limbs right off his body, I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone..it's like she has super human powers of strength when during her killing sprees..

Patience isn't a virtue, but vengeance is a bitch

Even though I really have no clue as to what I'm reading I'm hooked, I'm racing through the chapters devouring the words like I'm a woman addicted to crack, needing to know what's happening..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

At nights she dons on a pair of sexy high heels, sneaks out her bedroom window so as not to wake up her brother who is staying to keep an eye on her, and she goes on the hunt for the city's undesirables, in the most seediest parts of town, if she sees a red aura (their aura had to be red) hanging over their heads she's got no qualms of ending their lives, her senses are out of this world, it's like something comes over her and she's got this unreal strength she just rips them to shreds..But during these times is when she feels her lost ones around her, she can almost touch them, smell them..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Everything comes to a screeching halt when she's caught the eye of Sagan, his tactics by keeping people in line are threats and intimidation, he's a piece of work..

MY THOUGHTS: This isn't by no means dark, it's slightly sick, add anticipation coursing through your veins as you sit on the edge of your seat reading this highly addictive unsettling read and seconds, minutes, hours reading this will have you hooked..Such a unique out of the box well thought of story line..This book is brilliant, unorthodox, and thrillingly addictive..
I shit you not, this book was above epic, it's insane how good it was, nothing like what I expected, like to the point that I'm sitting here wondering wtf the author was drinking that night!! And another wtf moment was when it occurred to me that I've not read anything by this author before!!
Like the whole time I was reading this it felt like I was a passenger in a crazy toon car driven by the author where I'd only be let off until I finished her book as it hurtled me towards the unknown, the synopsis does not give anything away!! That ending GAH but it ended as it should've but still a GAH moment..
Flawlessly epic!! Gods I need therapy, I have NEVER read anything so fast in my life before!! *I need to go lie down I'm exhausted* lol

*Teasers used are off the authors page*

I'm going to need at least a few months to get over this book and the need to cry every time I think about it. Debra completely blew me away with this story. It's so unique and just AMAZING. I cried, I smiled, my heart broke, it was healed, I couldn't read it fast enough it was so exciting, and then I bawled like a baby and now I hate her for making me cry. But I love her for this story and how beautiful and horrifying and heart-pounding it was. Five stars aren't even close to being enough. Savvy's story is going to stay with me for a very long time.

☆☆☆☆ 4 "Craving Red" Stars ☆☆☆☆

"I'm too weak to die, and I have nothing to live for. If I could just stop breathing, maybe the pain would end."

 photo PicsArt_03-06-02.56.51_zpsuryo7kyd.jpg

Savvy is beyond heart broken. Losing the two loves of her life, her husband Kal and baby girl Sarah to a devasting car accident.

An accident Savvy survived because she chose to save herself instead of her family in a split second decision. That decision is an ever present blame her soul splinters to every minute of every day.

"The heartbreak is white noise, an endless, desperate background."

Until the night Savvy's life is flipped upside down once again. She sees red, she craves red. Savvy can see the auras of everyone, but red is a trigger for her to unleash super human powers and kill the worst of worst. She is unstoppable.

The destruction she leaves in her path, catches the evil eye of Silas Sagan. Silas is the reason for why Savvy is the way she is, filled with sadness with a side of incredible killer strength. He is also to be blamed for the death of her family.

Silas must capture Savvy, she is his creation, but Savvy is out for blood. The blood spilled when Silas' greed crossed three innocent lives.

Capturing Savvy proves to be end of many lives and hearts being broken in ways many don't see coming.

"I'm Savvy Raine.
I used to be a wife.
I used to be a mother.
Now I am the Revenger."

This book is nothing I've ever read. I loved the mixing of reality with super powers. I loved reading a woman kicking the ass of very bad people. The only thing that got me was a lull at about 60%. I got a little bored but the ending was a great turnaround.

Excerpt #1

“What the hell are you?” He searched frantically for the door latch, his panic making him oblivious to the open top of the Jeep above him.
He didn’t deserve an answer, and he wouldn’t get one. Only in her head would she respond. She pulled him from the backseat and held him aloft, thinking, I’m a mom without a reason. I’m a person without a life. I’m dead with no escape.

Excerpt #2

There was very little chatter after the alarming phone call. Savvy looked at the clock. It was only five, but the extra help Tallow had enlisted acted like she was about to disintegrate. When they were finally done, they hung Savvy’s costume from a door, fully expecting her to drop trou in front of all the strangers.
She looked at the silver outfit meant to demean her and classify her as his, just like all his other favorites.
“Yeah, I’m not actually going to be wearing that.” She looked from one shocked person to the other.
Tallow recovered first. “But this is what he told you to wear!”
Savvy laughed hollowly. “Yeah, he can suck his own d*ck for all I care.”
The atmosphere changed. The others now realized Savvy didn’t think it was a huge honor to be a f*ckhole.
“That’s not acceptable. I’ll put you in it myself if I have to, but you’re leaving here in that outfit.” Tallow bravely gathered up the skirt and came into Savvy’s personal space. He obviously thought she was just a regular girl.
In an instant she’d lifted Tallow into the air by his neck. “I’m not wearing it.” She stared him down until he began to turn blue. Then she set him back on his feet.
Tallow was a quick learner and smoothed his fancy shirt. “Okay then, let me see what else we have.”

The Revenger by Debra Anastasia
4 stars!!

“Isn’t time supposed to heal all wounds?”

Is there no end to the talent of Debra Anastasia? From the Paranormal Seraphim series, to the dark and gritty Poughkeepsie series and then to the hilarious and down-right filthy Gynazule series, Debra Anastasia now brings us a raw, gripping, emotional story with a slight fantasy element. The Revenger was not what I expected, but none the less I was pleasantly surprised and couldn’t put it down.

“I’m a mom without a reason. I’m a person without a life. I’m dead with no escape.”

The heroine of this story is Savvy. Savvy is at her very lowest ebb having lost everything in the world that mattered to her. Her husband and daughter were tragically killed in a car accident and she has the hugest dose of survivor’s guilt. Savvy just wants to die so that she can be with her family once again, but with her brother staying with her to keep her on the straight and narrow he won’t let her give in. The Revenger begins one year after the accident.

“Every morning, I get hit by a truck. Every afternoon, my mind gets to take a bath in lava. Every night is so black. I don’t want to be here without them.”

The accident that Savvy and her family were involved in was with a chemical tanker and Savvy had been exposed to the liquid before the tanker had exploded. So far she has not had any symptoms coming from that exposure but having decided to take her own life once again she soon finds that it may be harder than she first anticipated and maybe that chemical was having an effect on her body after all.

I don’t want to go into any details as you should really read this for yourself and see how Savvy comes to be The Revenger. This book, as I said does have a fantasy element to it but none more so than some cartoons that I had read and watched as a child and while probably unlikely in the real world did not stretch my imagination that much and is definitely a possibility seeing as chemical warfare is becoming something that hits the headlines on a more regular basis these days. But this side of the story is not really what this book is about but is more a means to an end to deliver the real moral of this story.

Good vs evil is always a winning message and I could really see this book on the big screen as one of those action packed movies that keeps you glued to your seat as you munch your way through a bucket of popcorn. Savvy gets rewarded for ridding the world of bad and even more so for turning the bad to good. With auras as her guiding light her fight is fierce and nothing more gives her hope for her future and her end goal. With mob bosses at the forefront of her fight you always know that it is going to be an uphill struggle but Savvy is determined, sassy and takes no crap, no matter how scary the adversary and with very little regard for her own life. Think the Mrs of Mr & Mrs Smith on speed and in killer heels.

“Her eyes were her gauge, so it seemed – windows to the soul and all that. And her soul was crumbling without the hits from her people on the other side.”

Debra Anastasia introduces some great side characters that have a huge part to play in the story and each one brings something different but gives depth to this action packed read. I adored Boston and was desperately hoping for an outcome that I knew was not within the realms of possibility, however, it didn’t stop me from wanting. There was always an inevitable end to this story but none the less, knowing did not lessen the emotional impact. But kudos to Debra Anastasia for delivering it with honesty and sticking to her guns. Savvy was a woman on a mission and at the end of the day she achieved her goals with venom and flair, she was a force to be reckoned with, she reduced grown men to tears but she definitely goes out with a bang. Long live Savannah Raine.

“Patience is a virtue.”
“But vengeance is a bitch.”

I went into this book blind. I didn't read any reviews, and really just skimmed the blurb. I had no idea what I was getting into, so imagine my surprise when I was blown away by how good this sucker was...

description

A year ago Savvy (love that name) lost her husband and child in an accident. Over the past year she hasn't been able to move on, and has tried to kill herself on a couple of occasions. I was expecting some sort of "revenge" plot, what I wasn't expecting was a BADASS superhero vigilante. But OH was it awesome.

description

This book was so well written. It had SO many feels. It kept me turning the pages. I adored Savvy, she was badass, but she ripped my heart out. Silas, oh Silas..he was such a bad man, but I loved him through the whole book. His growth as a character was the highlight of this book for me to be honest. Every character in this book was engaging, and I hated to see it end. End it did though and left me bawling like a baby. I'm hopeful we'll get another book with Boston as the hero...fingers crossed.

Wow! This book is not what I expected, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. If you are looking for a dark romance, you will NOT find it here. Why it's labeled as such is beyond me, because I read a shit ton of dark books and I know the difference. I don't know if she's trying to cash in on one of the hottest genres right now, but it's not. Sorry to break it to you. What this story is like though is a very badass urban fantasy of sorts, with a hint of romance.

This isn't the first book by Debra I've read. A few months ago I jumped into Fire Down Below and loved it, along with the follow up book, Fire in the Hole. I really loved Debra's writing style and snarkiness, so when I saw that she was writing a more serious, dark superhero book of sorts, I was all over that shit. And I'm so glad that I read it. It's still told in her descriptive third person pov, which I love, but the depth she goes into with this story is amazing. I was hooked. Sucked it down in a day.

"I'm a mom without a reason. I'm a person without a life. I'm dead with no escape."

Savvy is a woman on a mission to end her life. In the first page alone we feel her suffering from losing her family and feel deeply for her loss. Her brother Toby stays with her to keep an eye on her and to make sure that she doesn't try to kill herself again. It's a hard life for both of them. But then one night, Savvy decides that it's time. And since she promised her brother she wouldn't kill herself, she never promised him that she wouldn't put herself in harms way to make it happen.

She slaps on some heels and sneaks out of the house to go to the roughest part of town in the hopes that someone will take advantage of her. But when she gets there, her body begins to change. She begins seeing auras and the majority of them are red and she feels alive. So alive that she no longer wants to be harmed, she wants to harm.

This is the turning point in her life. She kicks the shit out of some dude and almost kills him, because suddenly she's stronger when these senses kick in. But by doing so she puts herself on the radar of Sagan, a major crime boss in the area. She doesn't know it, though. All she knows is that when she allows herself to injure mean individuals, she gets brief glimpses of her passed husband and daughter. And she will do anything to keep getting them. It's the only thing keeping her going.

Sagan is real piece of shit. He works through intimidation and promises of injury or death. He's petty, doesn't give a shit about others, and takes what he wants. He wants Savvy. Not only her body, but her abilities. Sagan stops at nothing to try to control her, but she's a ticking fucking bomb. He's scared of her and he very well should be. She's out to destroy him. Once he takes her, all bets are off and he holds her brother's life over head to control her. But Savvy can only be pushed so far. And Sagan isn't the only one hunting her down. Let the games begin.

"She was like him--broken down to nothing. He recognized the walking dead in her."

I loved this story. Savvy is a hell of a woman. Life has put her ass through the wringer, and yet she stands strong as ever. Her emotional state is insane, pinging from one extreme to the other and back again, but she is so in control. Absolutely amazing. Sagan, god I loved hating him then loved loving him. He's not so much an enigma as everyone thinks he is. He's angry and confused and taking it out on everyone around him. When he and Savvy finally begin to connect *sigh* the feels. Lots of feels and inner turmoil going on. Boston, her bodyguard. I liked him from the beginning and loved seeing them bond all while worrying where it was going to go. His loyalties are to Sagan, or are they? And Jack! The hotty Jack. I wish there were more of him. Can I have more of him PLEASE! Jesus, I loved his character and he wasn't in the story near enough for me. And the ending couldn't have been better. It was perfect for her story. Absolutely perfect. We are getting a book two right?

Basically, if you like literal kickass heroines and deep story lines, you will LOVE this story. Pick it up, suck it down, stew on it. You won't regret it. It's an awesome book about the lengths a woman will go to find happiness.

Savvy was an average wife and mother until an accident changed her completely. The reader witnesses the aftermath and evolution from Savvy to The Revenger. I really got into it. I felt the pain and excitement. The author did an excellent job of making me empathize with everyone. Lines between good and bad become blurred. The plot is full of action, sweetness and sadness. There's never a dull moment.

I love that this author is able to change up and write different genres. Some label The Revenger as dark paranormal. I personally would not label this as dark. To me it seems like an old school superhero story, the kind where a hero is born from great suffering. If you like Marvel, DC and such, you should definitely check it out. If you're looking for something different, this is it.

If you are looking for your next intense, intoxicating, suspenseful, un-put-down-able 5 star read, then look no further... THIS IS IT!

"Every morning, I get hit by a truck. Every afternoon, my mind gets to take a bath in lava. Every night is so black. I don't want to be here without them."

That, right there sums up the deep intensity of this story. The Revenger starts with a woman, Savannah Raine (Savvy) consumed in darkness. The loss of her Husband and Daughter has stripped her of everything she was. The loving wife and doting Mother is gone, a grieving guilt - ridden shadow all that remains.

Toby is her rock. The caring and concerned Brother will not leave her side, not after the second suicide attempt as he moves in and promises to help her get through the darkest of days.

But fate has other ideas when her world gets turned upside down, again, and collides with a notorious villain who wants Savvy for reasons that many could never comprehend. She's a weapon, an addiction and quite possibly... his downfall.

The Revenger is unlike anything Debra Anastasia has gifted us before. This is her darker side. The Revenger is packed with suspense, violence and a power so strong it teeters on paranormal but with a scientific edge. Sounds all very intricate but I can tell you that this story flows beautifully even if there are many turbulent bumps along the way. One thing is absolutely certain ...like the synopsis suggests, this is a story of revenge; to fulfill a need to seek and destroy in the name of love.

Silas Sagan is a force of epic proportions. Brutal, feared and wants for nothing, that is until now. He's finally met his match and that thought is exciting as much as it is terrifying, as they clash in a good vs evil twisted game of dominance.

A Mothers love is unconditional...until it turns deadly.

A full throttle, dramatic read that has a little bit of everything. Read it!

This is not my normal kind of book but it's Deb and I will read anything she writes simply because I adore her but more so because I love her writing style and her creative imagination.

This story is creative and original and with the paranormal aspect, very intriguing.
I liked the way it played out from past to present to past and then future....( You will have to read it to understand that).

This book had incredible characters that you can really connect with. I really enjoyed getting to know them all and their stories. It wasn't as "deep" as the Poughkeepsie series but then again, this is not the Pough brothers is it lol... I would like to see a little more of Boston in a second book. Savvy was a little odd - again paranormal and crazy brutal but so sweet and passionate. She totally went from house wife to crazy ass bitch in a matter of minutes - awesome. Wish I could do some of that kung foo LOL

The ending was good - a few people will want something different but I liked the way it closed. I did however find it a little odd the way things progressed so fast towards the end.

The story was sweet, emotional, brutal and heart wrenching yet at the same time funny, exciting and revengeful. I would suggest this to anyone that enjoys paranormal, romance or exciting reads.

If you know me at all, you’ll know it is very rare that someone or something—or in this case, a book—can leave me speechless. This book has done just that. Not only am I speechless, I am knocked on my ass by the force by which this book hit me.

So, now that I am down here, let me tell you my thoughts… First and foremost, this book is so different from anything I have ever read that I have nothing to compare it to—and that in itself is a hard feat. Second, I was literally transported into Savvy’s world, I felt what she felt, and rejoiced with her. Third, I WANT MORE!!!

I am not going to sum up the book for you, as I feel it would give things away. You really need to experience this book for yourself. But I can tell you that the characters in this book will make you connect with them. You will want more of each of them when you are done reading, and you will absolutely fall in puppy love!

I want to rant and rave for hours about why you need this book in your life. But I have a feeling no one would read a review that long, ever. With it being classed as “paranormal”, that label may turn off a lot of readers. However, there are no sparkly vampires, aliens, or crazy creatures—The Revenger is a love story about an extraordinary human with a little extra. ~ Devlynn, 4.5 stars

5 Kick-Ass Stars!

Wow . . . just, wow, people! What a wickedly good ride!

 photo tumblrinlinemjixnkxzqf1_zps82b7af61.gif

If you're looking for something different, something that has you turning the pages, needing to know what the hell is going on and what will happen next, then please do yourself a favor and pick up The Revenger.

Savvy Raine is a mother and a wife who's been handed almost too much to bear. She's broken and ready to give up.

 photo tumblr_m506qqACYi1qg7g90o1_r1_500_zpsf2cc9b09.gif

But then she finds a way to survive. And that's when the wild ride begins. Savvy discovers . . . let's say, her inner strength, and, as a result, becomes a kick-ass heroine. Still, thanks to Ms. Anastasia's stellar writing, Savvy remains multi-layered. She's still vulnerable and you understand her motivation to do some questionable things.

Enter Silas Sagan.

 photo tumblr_mcm9de2_S8_Z1ryjwc0_zps23cdf220.gif

I hated him so much, at first. But then I started to understand him. He's fascinated by Savvy, but will he be the one to break her? You'll have to read for yourself and see.

 photo giphysave_zpsplzmseea.gif

The thing I liked the most about this book is that it made me feel such a spectrum of emotions. I'd go from "Hell, no" to "You go, girl" and then back to "What the hell is going on???" I was kept on edge, glued to the pages, and if you give The Revenger a try, I'm sure you will be too.

Where do I start with this review? This book is unlike anything I have read. It's raw, gritty, sad and redeeming all at once. Its unique storyline had me drawn to it for a while now.

Have you ever read one of those books where you told yourself that you needed a boo like this at a particular moment but didn't realize you needed it until you read it? That's this book for me. Sure, I love dark books. I like books that give me so much more than a baseline of a story. This one is so much more than that!

I have only read one of Debra's books in the past. So, going into this one had me a little leary. The last one I read was more of a funny read. This one? Nope. I knew that from the get go, but sometimes when you read one type of book from an author, you are afraid to read anything else. That's exactly where I was at.

If you read the other reviews, do NOT let the paranormal part of this story scare you off, if that isn't your thing. The paranormal part is just a small element to the story. It gives it that extra umph the story needs to be told. This is such an emotional book, twisted and raw in the right ways. All of the ways I love a book to be.

Don't be fooled. This isn't just some woman going on a killing spree. This is a broken woman taking revenge. This is a story about a woman learning to heal in the most horrific yet delicious way possible. Debra told this story from deep within her somewhere. Where ever she pulled this story from, she needs to do it over and over again. This is definitely a book that should be read.

REVIEW UPDATE !!

Review Posted Also On Crazy Beautiful Reads

THIS IS NO FREAKING ORDINARY BOOK BY OUR BELOVED DEBRA ANASTASIA- just a heads-up if you are planning on reading it, that's all !

Debra Anastasia just had outdone herself with this one. And it is the simple and pure truth. Thank you for making me fall for your book and afterwards cutting me open, get my heart out and kill me - not fast but rather in slow motion for your "entertainment". But I loved it ! I still have tears in my eyes after that explosive ending...

Prepare to meet the female version of Hulk in this explosive and mind blowing New book by Debra Anastasia !!!

What's a mother with superhuman powers to do after she loses everything that gave her life a meaning, a purpose and a reason to breathe ? Plot the revenge on the one who's fault it is for the accident that caused the loss of her loved ones.

Savvy could be just a normal woman. One that had lost everything that made her life beautiful and meaningful. Except that she is not. And that is because after the accident - which made her feel selfish over the time -, her body has been "invaded" by some sort of substance that gave her superhuman powers. Just that this power would only make her go insane somehow and no one is able to actually help her. The only person that's been by her side ever since the accident is her brother, who'd do anything for her.

What she doesn't know is that someone watches her from within the shadows only to ultimately get his hands on her for that one single purpose, that is the substance which makes her so damn powerful. Not much time passes until they actually do so and she fights back real hard to free herself from their hold...until they tell her that her brother will die if she keeps on fighting them. Her only remaining solution is to do what she is being told. Fighting back the urge to kill every single one of the bad boys is a hard thing to do.

After a while the man who ordered her capture comes to his lair and she has to comply to the new house rules. Here she finds out what he really intends to do with the substance found in her system. And that is one bad thing. She keeps on fighting hard and bad to get under Sagan's skin and make him change his mind about everything. Make him even fall for her if that means she can do it. Her plans work out, and after her brother's suicide, she's being taken away by Sagan to another estate of his until everything calms down.

Unfortunately, time isn't on her side, as she learns that she is a walking time bomb, rather too late for her and the ones on her side's safety. If she'll make it or not, remains to be seen.

NOTE : This is one heck of an emotional roller coaster ! You'll need some tissues by your side and a few days tops to recover after finishing it.

Usually, I don't like going into a book blind... but I did for this one. I intentionally ignored reviews and in-depth summaries because I heard how fabulous it is and I wanted to experience it all on my own.
And I'm glad I did! Holy cow! This book is so god-damn good!! It was one amazing roller coaster of a story; for not only the characters but for me as the reader. I felt very strong feelings of sympathy, curiosity, horror, disgust, excitement, and so, SO much more! Savvy's story had my heart thumping, adrenaline pumping, and even my stomach dropping at SEVERAL points in this read.

Savvy... Savvy is AMAZING!! So broken, but fierce and dark and STRONG! She doesn't even realize how strong she is... what a warrior she is. And while I find her actions in the beginning pretty horrific, I also understand it... given the very life changing event she's gone through, as well as the foreign, shall we call it ENTITY, inside of her that is and has changed her. But I like her sass and wit the most. She had a witty retort in just about every situation she found herself in!

Silas... I'm genuinely shocked by how much I liked him by the end of it... considering I spent the first half of the book thoroughly repulsed and disgusted by him. But he did gain my sympathy as the story went on and more of his past was revealed and as Savvy changed him just as much as she was changed by the entity he had found.

Boston... a truly admirable character. I half hoped he would be a love interest for Savvy (actually, I went back and forth between him, Silas, and Jack on that front), but I love the way their relationship went.

Jack... I actually think Jack was one of the most important character roles, despite not having much "air time"... he was vital to the way the story went. I don't think the story would have had anything resembling a happy ending had Jack not shown up.

The ending... I don't normally like endings like this, but I think it was quite a fitting end for the characters and their story.... but I'm kinda hoping the ending of that epilogue means another revenger book is coming!! Any chance of that happening, Debra?

Overall... this book was AMAZING!! I highly recommend it! It was thoroughly enjoyable and incredibly immersive! It was witty and funny when it needed to be, dark and scary when it needed to be, and sad and touching when it needed to be! And I don't know if I'm alone on this, but this movie would make a FANTASTIC movie!! As I read and got immersed, I could SEE this in my mind, like a movie! And it was pretty fucking awesome!

~*~

I think the only real piece of criticism is that I wish certain parts had been fleshed out more. Like Silas and his change, Toby and Theresa's relationship (it felt like they went from zero to 60 in no time flat), and I wish the end would have included Toby and how he coped in the aftermath.

But beyond that, I just can't think of anything wrong with this book. It was well written and developed, immersive, and fun! :)

Sod a freaking dog and fleck me sideways, what the hell did I just read?

Debra Anastasia! How on earth? What in the world? I need wine. I need to lay down on cool sheets and have someone stroke my hair.

Amazing.

Gripping.

Intriguing.

Inspirational.

I'm totally in awe of the perfection of this book. I'll let you into a little secret, it's not really a spoiler, but there is weird shit going on. Savvy - she is like, super badass. You know the type, I'm talking Margo Moon, Deanna Madden, Katniss Everdene, Hermione Granger. Savvy is them all put together on speed!

Silas Sagan, evil baddy. Bond villain for sure. Nasty through and through. He will stop at nothing. And his assassin - waiting in the wings for the command. He doesn't maim, he doesn't toy with his victims. Just hasta la vista baby.

She was a mum. She was a wife. Now she is soulless. She has one thing on her mind and that is revenge.

When you read a book and KNOW this should be, has to be, must be, made into a film. All of it playing in clear pictures in my brain.

My clippings were mostly around the pictures in my brain. Perhaps I was infused with Compound E.

"Know this: I will kill you. Take these words and carve them on your horrible soul."

"Run. Run far. I'll find you. I'll always find you."

"The only thing that keeps me breathing right now is hate."

"Where there is light, others can always find dark."

"I'm a mom without a reason. I'm a person without a life. I'm dead with no escape."

"The white sheers took off like kites in the breeze, and several of the candles lit to set the mood blew out, adding grey, twirling smoke to the atmosphere."

"I crave your violence. I need it. I will consume it."

"Time just moves. That's the only job it has. Healing requires something I don't have. That I never want. I deserve the pain."

"Caught in your own trap. Sometimes it switches, you know? The kidnapper becomes the kidnapped."

"He listened to her inhale and exhale. It was like being dipped in forgiveness and caring. It became everything."

"He could kiss her until the world ended. She had turned him into a love song and a sappy story."

It ends on a high. I love Boston.

*Received an arc in exchange for an honest review*
Savvy is the judge, jury, executioner, but most of all she is the Revenger.

"I can't kill me, but I am sure I can find someone who will do the deed. For the first time in a year, Savvy smiled."

This book was honestly very different from what I thought it would be. But I loved it!
We have a women named Savvy who lost everything she cared about. She is on a downward spiral, wanting to end her suffering. Her brother Tobias has been there for her every step of the way. One night Savvy decides its time to end things once and for all and this is where everything changes.

She starts seeing these red auras around certain people and she wants blood.

This story was a rollercoaster of action, sorrow, and a hint of romance. It had me on the edge of my seat, wondering how this book would end. It was one hell of a ride!

Sure you have her lover Sagan, who all in all was a total douche who wanted to control her, was scared of what she was capable of. But in the end he grew on me, I saw that he truly cared for her in his very own way. The thing is though is that was Savvy's story of redeeming herself as a character. From losing it all and trying to make the best of it. With her power of hurting bad people and being able to see glimpses of her family it was just so sad to read.

I must say Savvy was a remarkable character, in the beginning she is broken, numb, a shell of what she once was. Savvy just wanted to end her suffering. But after that night she discovers a new identity with unique physical strength. With that strength she uses it against evil, and in reward she gets glimpses of her lost husband and daughter. Savvy was a total bad ass character, and she was not weak, but a warrior. That is what I love about her.

All in all, it was a great book that I finished in one sitting. I am a huge fan of Debra Anastasia's work and this was just as good as her other novels.

Highly recommend.

I have to admit that when I read the synopsis, I was a little skeptical but more so curious than anything else. I have read some of the most poignant and funniest romances books by this author in the past and I swear that Debra Anastasia’s talent is limitless.

The Revenger is certainly not what I expected. Don’t let the synopsis fool you. Although, the synopsis a little ambiguous, The Revenger is a wild and crazy conundrum of one woman’s quest to reconnect with the life that was so tragically taken away from her.

Savvy’s quest for revenge winds up being so much more than she could have ever imagined. The tragic accident that changed her life forever contains information that has the power to destroy and entire world should it ever fall into the wrong hands.

Alliances are formed, bonds are broken, and relationships are changed forever. Some for the better, some for the worse, yet Savvy will never let the very thing that destroyed her life, wreak havoc on others.

A unique, thrill seeking journey, The Revenger will take you on an exciting rollercoaster ride into a world where the lines between love and hate become blurred, but reminds you that there is good left in the world after all.

Wow!! I have read all of this authors books and The Revenger blew me away. It's a bit dark, gritty with a touch of romance. A mix of paranormal and fantasy. At first I wasn't sure what to make of Savvy. She is shattered and broken. She doesn't want to be fixed. Her story made me shed a tear or two. What I didn't expect was her to become the badass she became. This book will test your morals in a way that really makes you think. Savvy does things that will make you go wtf, but then you need to think of what you would do if you were in her gorgeous high heels. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this book. Savvy is an unhappy woman looking for a means to an end and I'm glad she finally got what she wanted.

OMG wow! I really REALLY enjoyed this book! It was just so different and interesting, exciting and so VERY sad that I devoured the book in day. Its not often a book drags me in deep that I drop everything and just read to the end! For that alone I would give it a 4.5 stars! The story was like a comic book on steroids. At first it was a bit confusing and a little jagged as we stepped into the story and witnessed all Savvy's pain and heartbreak, then it was full on kick-butt action stuff at its best, a little anti-hero super stuff going on never goes astray as far as I am concerned! Next came the emotions and the real battle began. And the end .....oh wow! I shed a happy/sad tear. Such an enjoyable story-line!

1.5 stars?

I hated this book. It was so dumb.

A meteorite mater gets into a woman’s system and gives her “super human powers” but she can die and go into this world with her dead family and then comes back into the real world where she is a “revenger”....*rolls eyes forever*

I really liked this author...this book...

Just.

This is my first book by this talented author and it was so good. I have no clue why I waited so long to start reading her books. I finished it in a day because I was hooked from the first paragraph. Dark, intrigue and good.

I never quite know what I’m going to get when I dive into a Debra Anastasia story. She has a unique style to her writing - one that doesn’t confine her to certain standards - one that allows her to shape the plot and her characters the way she wants to without worrying about the reality of situations - the fantastical works for Anastasia, and she definitely delivers the extraordinary and other worldly in her newest release, The Revenger.

“You just fight the bad guys and keep the good people safe.”

That’s Savannah Raine’s purpose…the reason her life was spared and altered while her husband and daughter died in an accident that not only destroyed her happiness but manipulated her into a deliverer of retribution…a punisher of misdeeds, and no one is more on her radar than the man who stole her happiness and left her with a power that can ultimately destroy her as well.

There are multiple perspectives in The Revenger, and all of them provide a wider view of all that Savvy has become since the accident, emotionally and physically, and because the viewpoints are on both sides - those with golden auras and those with red - it stands to reason that there would be a clear scope of right from wrong, good from evil, but that is not the case, and that’s what works so well with Savvy’s role as revenger and what she teaches to those around her, even those she wants to punish because the hatred oozes out of her when she’s near them.

Savvy’s story begs the question if there are people who can clearly be defined as good and bad or if there are moments in everyone’s life when there is no choice whether to commit a crime or not because others could be negatively affected if you don’t. The Revenger doesn’t answer that question nor does it try to prove that there is only one choice to make in any situation but what it does show is that everyone has good and bad inside of them and it’s how they live and the decisions they make that lead to the type of aura that surrounds them.

The Revenger is an intriguing read that proves how extraordinarily precious life is and the complications and conflicts that arise when people forget that idea and then have to be remained in atypical ways because that’s the only way they’ll see what their life is supposed to be instead of what they’ve allowed it to become.

I received a copy of this title to read and review for Wicked Reads

3 Stars.

I was eager to begin The Revenger after reading the blurb. The first page had tears prickling my eyes as I read about how lifelike the emotions felt by Savvy when dealing with the loss of her husband and daughter. I settled in to read the book in its entirety, just knowing it would be a page-turner.

Then it took an odd yet unexpected turn. A turn I hadn't anticipated after reading the blurb again. The Revenger took on a science fiction note. Not that I mind Sci-fi, but it was an odd transition. I experienced emotional whiplash, and continued to do so for the rest of the read.

A year after her husband and daughter's deaths, on the anniversary, Savvy is not coping. Her brother, Tobias, lives with her to make sure she doesn't attempt suicide yet again. Despondent in her grief, wishing for death herself, Savvy's every thought is about her loss. She returns to the scene of the accident that took their lives, and all goes haywire.

I won't explain what happens next, because I don't want to ruin it (spoil it). But what I had a hard time wrapping my mind around is the transition. Savvy, the one wishing for death, dwelling in her self-inflicted pain, not wanting others to feel such pain, didn't have one single emotion besides glee when she saw red. This was the opposite of human nature, even if it took a science fiction turn, because her emotions didn't. Seeing red or not, being bad or not, people in their lives would feel the same level of grief Savvy felt, and someone grieving wouldn't want to do that to anyone.

Back and forth, Savvy would go from lying down and dying, full of emotion that tugged at the reader's heartstrings, to seeing red where she was ballsy, arrogant, antagonistic, and sociopathic. Two opposites, neither healthy, and neither enjoyable to read.

The Revenger was an intriguing read, inventive and original. But I wanted more out of Savvy, the emotion she showed during her grief, even if it was true negative emotion, when she saw 'red'- other than I'm going to kill him. Some of the moments were humorous in their badassery, but it disconnected me as a reader.

Overall, it was a well-written, compelling read, where I got more than I bargained for after reading the blurb, but I'm on the fence on whether or not I actually enjoyed reading it.
