Dr. Feelgood

Rate this book
Whether they’re paramedics, nurses, therapists, doctors, or even actors who play them on TV, the men in the medical profession must contend with job stress and long hours that can make finding love a challenge. These dedicated professionals aid patients from the severely injured to those just needing some help with a bath, and along the way find creative ways to release some tension, reconnect with past partners, and even forge something that might last a lifetime.

Injuries, huge workloads, dedication to duty, self-doubt, and fear of coming out of the closet are only some of the obstacles standing in the way of the men committed to easing pain and those in need of treatment. But with hard work, some humor, some steamy on- and off-the-job trysts, plenty of patience, and open hearts, doctors and patients alike can find the healing they need, whether it comes from a lifelong commitment or a quickie in the staff room.

The men in this anthology are looking for relief, and they’re in luck—the doctor is in.

It's been awhile since I've read an anthology. This one deals with medical professionals, be they doctors, EMTs or therapists. I will say hats off to all the writers for the attention to detail in conveying the medical terminology in each story.

A few stand-outs:

First And Last, by Sara York. Excellent story about two men coming together, bound by current tragedy and a devastating incident from their past.

Differential Diagnosis, by Anna Martin. This one plays into my love of medical dramas, and gives an interesting look into the making of one. I could totally read a whole book about these guys.

Rx For Sex, by Bru Baker. Nice look into what happens when career and personal life collide, and not in a positive, life-affirming way. And the resolution is smoking hot.

Tourniquet, by Kaye P Hallows. This is truly the set piece for me. If you liked House, you'll love this.

To The Next Level, by Laura Mathews. The main character is near and dear to my heart - a retired Marine. Even though I'm Navy, I can and did identify with him. This story deals with the aftermath of combat - learning to live with a missing limb and realizing that it doesn't define who you are.

Kudos to all the authors, and to Dreamspinner for once again releasing a satisfying anthology.

This anthology features stories related to the medical profession. Of the fourteen stories included, I found five to be outstanding, and I’d rate each of those 4.5 or 5 stars.

“Doctor in the Desert” by S.C. Wynne – An excellent story of a doctor in a small town hospital ER who meets one of the new cops in town when there’s a disruptive patient in the ER. They see each other a few times at work before Trace, the doc, asks Logan, the cop, out for a drink. The story was well-written, with a touch of humor. I appreciated the fact that the author managed to fit in a brief story, a date, sex, and a serious morning-after discussion, all within the bounds of the pages of a short story. There wasn’t insta-love but they did make a commitment to work toward a relationship.

“Iron Man” by Meg O’Brien – Another excellent story about Aidan, a young man who was blinded in an auto accident and Bryan, the son of his neighbor who happens to be a blind rehabilitation specialist. Bryan offers to work with Aidan at no charge because he’s completely captivated by not only his looks, but his intelligence, and his personality, by the time their first meeting is complete. He knows if he charges a fee, then Aidan will be a client, and he won’t be able to date him. I like the way the author allowed a great deal of time to go by before there was any romantic involvement. And she definitely gave them the promise of a HEA and some nice non-erotic love scenes to spice up the story.

“Hero Worship” by Kris T. Bethke – Alex, a paramedic, literally saves the life of the groom’s younger brother, Matt, at his best friend, Carrie’s, wedding. Matt has always had a case of hero worship for Alex and that just gets worse now, causing Alex to shy away because he’s older and that’s not a good foundation for a relationship. When Matt offers to move in with him to make up for the rent money lost with Carrie leaving, Alex initially hesitates, then reluctantly agrees. The story takes place over several months as the author allows the two to grow into more than friendship. Eventually, after several interesting twists in the story, the two get their HEA.

“Tourniquet” by Kaye P. Hallows – A doctor is injured in the Boston Marathon bombing when, after stopping to apply a tourniquet a young boy’s leg, he’s caught in a second explosion. There’s quite a bit of flirtatious play between Em and his nurse, Kane, who ultimately confesses that he’s been interested in getting closer to Em for six years. Fortunately, both uphold ethical behavior while Em is hospitalized, but when he’s released, the two begin their plans to build a relationship on their foundation of friendship.

“To the Next Level” by Laura Mathews – Cam is a retired Marine who lost his leg in his last deployment and is being trained in the use of his new prosthesis. His therapist is Travis, and as the two flirt and get to know one another, Cam starts to hope that he might be able to create a future with this man. It isn’t until Cam is released from rehab, however, that the two finally are able to get together and the story ends with the promise of a possible HEA.

The other stories in the anthology, in no particular order are:

“Right-Hand Man” by Rob Rosen – A young man with a broken arm and his neighbor who happens to be an unemployed live-in nurse find sex, love and a long term commitment. 3 stars
“Mend What Is Broken” by Fil Preis – When a doctor falls asleep at the wheel of his car, an old love who was recently hired as an orthopedic surgeon takes over his care and they ultimately decide to pursue a relationship once the doctor is no longer a patient. 4 stars

“First and Last” by Sara York – Reunited after ten years, a young man takes the opportunity to apologize for his verbal gay-bashing teenage behaviors when his former classmate and crush returns to town as a doctor. They initiate a conversation which leads to dating and eventually to their HEA. 4 stars

“Differential Diagnosis” by Anna Martin –The producers of a popular TV series have decided to add a gay romance this year. When the men playing the parts are attracted in real life, the two keep their romantic interest private so that it doesn’t affect their TV roles. Of course it gets out, but the two stay together in a long term commitment and likely will have their HEA. 4 stars

“In My Own Skin” – by Thea Nishimori A surprise blind date for a movie marathon weekend makes Chris uncomfortable because he can never get close to a lover. He eventually confesses to his date that he has psoriasis and goes into a very detailed description of what that skin condition looks like, down to the weeping sores on the genital area. I didn’t find the story as much of a romance as it was a lesson on psoriasis, however the author did assure that the MCs would see each other again and may have a HEA. 2.5 stars

“Rx for Sex” by Bru Baker— Two psychiatrists struggle to stay together long term when schedules conflict, and they never seem to find time together. One decides to prescribe sex as their cure, and they make the commitment to find time to be together every day, no matter what happens. 3 stars

“Kind” by Samuel Scott Preston – Rod is in training as a grad student athletic trainer but he’s had to go back into the closet to do so, since he fears exposure would ruin his career. While taking care of Damon, an injured athlete, the two find so much in common they become very close. After a misunderstanding over Thanksgiving, I got lost in some of the reasoning behind the balance of the story. It didn’t quite make sense to me, and the quick turnaround in behavior when the two meet again threw me off so I ranked this story lower for that reason. 2.5 stars

“Pain Management” by Brigham Vaughn – This story is about a massage therapist who is treating a man who suffers from terrible migranes. The massage helps but the man needs to have ongoing treatment so they can’t date due to ethical considerations even though they seem to have insta-love. After undergoing an amazing new medical procedure, the patient is released so the two MCs are able to finally be together and find their HEA. 3 stars

“Night Shift” by Casey O’Neill – Det. Wayne Fisher is a cop who’s been separated a year from his husband, Mike, a doctor, because Mike couldn’t live with all of the near death experiences a cop can have. Of course, one more happens when Wayne is shot in a convenience store robbery but it helps Mike to see that he’d rather have Wayne with him than never knowing where he is. This was a nice story but fairly predictable in its outcome. 3.5 stars

Overall, the anthology was good and I’d recommend it to any lovers of M/M romance, especially those who like stories with medical personnel. This would also be a great book to take on vacation.

Calculating the average of all stories, the score overall is 3.9 stars rounded up to 4.

Overall I enjoyed this anthology. I rated all stories 3 and above which was great. It took me a while to get through because my approach with anthologies is to read a story on those nights when I want a quick read before bed but don't want to get sucked into a long novel. This was perfect and I ended many a night with a little bit of Dr. Feelgood. Overall rating 3.5.

Right-hand Man by Rob Rosen
Basically this is one quick - albeit very hot and sexy - scene as Alan gets a bath from his friendly and helpful neighbour Brad (we all need good neighbours like Brad!) Alan has a broken arm and luckily Brad is a medical professional who likes to do good deeds. There are witty lines and amusing banter with lots of sex. These guys are not shy, basically going at it from the moment they meet. 3 stars.

Mend What Is Broken by Fils Preis
I liked the realism of the traumatic experience. The descriptions took me right into the scene - the slipping in and out of conciousness, the confusion etc. I would have liked the story to continue for one or two more chapters to give more of a taste of the characters together but I guess you can't have it all in a short story! 3 stars.

Doctor in the Desert by S.C. Wynne
This had some cute moments and the characters were really likable. I loved their date where they were feeling each other out - gay? not gay? just good at acting straight? The emotional connection between them was super-fast and the characters even acknowledge this so I wasn't the only one thinking it! :) My only puzzlement was how a doctor could have had such a bad time bottoming in the past as surely he would understand the need for prep so why not ask for it? Luckily he doesn't have to ask his gorgeous policeman! 3.5 stars

Iron Man by Meg O'Brien
I loved Aiden and Bryan and I appreciated the author's descriptions of the blind experience but I adored mom - she was wonderful and kind and funny. 4 stars

First and Last by Sara York
Love a story with a reunited men and I loved tat Jeffery didn't hold a grudge about the past. I adored the father and son relationship between Trevin and Burt. 4 stars

Differential Diagnosis by Anna Martin
This was a cute story of life imitating art when lead characters on a soap opera play the part of lovers. I was really getting into it when it ended - unfortunately! The ending just seemed too abrupt. 3 stars

In My Own Skin by Thea Nishimori
This story was definitely different, given its focus on an illness that impacts Chris' ability to meet men and engage in physical activity. His everyday living is obviously impacted as well as his chances at romance. It is nice that the author is providing a sense of realism and information on a condition that no doubt affects many, including herself but at times I thought it maybe a bit too descriptive - maybe I just think this because I'm thinking it doesn't fit with 'romance'. Anyway, it has nice potential for Chris to get his happy ending. 3 stars

Rx for Sex by Bru Baker
4 stars for a hot little sex scene in the on-call room! I loved the dirty talk, I loved Charlie's cute prescription for Barr. I'd really like to hear more about these two.

Kind by Samuel Scott Preston
3 stars. Unlikely (I'm not sure that Derek would have really spent his recuperation with this team physical therapist) but it was sweet.

Hero Worship by Kris T. Bethke
I loved this story as it was but it would have made a great longer story. I loved all the characters including the sister/best friend. A bit of humour, nice sex, emotional soul searching and a happy ending. 5 stars

Tourniquet by Kaye P. Hallows
4.5 stars. I loved this story - heroes, the Dr House references, Kane's personality and his persistence going after Weston and taking chances. "I want you to saw off that damn tourniquet around your heart and let me bring you back to life. I want your devotion, your respect, and your trust. I want you, all of you, not this watered-down version that makes you feel safe. I wany you to love the shit out of me without fear or reservation."

Pain Management by Brigham Vaughn
A little niggle of inappropriateness but really who cares in a sweet short story involving a massage therapist and a patient with a chronic migraine. It's amazing what a good massage (one very hot one, in particular) can do! 3.5 stars

Night Shift by Casey O'Neill
4 stars because I like drama and happy endings - plus there were cops! There's no sex but that impact my enjoyment of the story which focused on a long term couple who are married but separated, struggling with accepting the risks that come with the job of a detective.

To The Next Level by Laura Mathews
A nice story with a military touch as Cameron goes through rehabilitation while falling for his therapist. A little flirtation but no boundaries crossed. It was sweet. 3.5 stars

3.5

This was a good anthology. There were a lot of diverse medical stories here. Really great range of storylines and characters. I'm often in the mood for shorter stories and this really hit the spot. Quite a few of these authors are ones I haven't read before so I'll be checking out more of their work. Definitely something that I'd recommend

Right-hand Man by Rob Rosen 2 Stars

Alan broke his right arm in three places and his neighbour Brad, who is a live-in nurse that's in between jobs helps him out. The humour didn't work for me with this one.

Mend What is Broken by Fil Preis 3 Stars

Connor is a radiologist and he reconnects with a friend from med school, Josh. This was very much just a sweet flirtation with the promise of something more. Cute.

Doctor in the Desert by S.C. Wynne 4 Stars

Trace is an ER doctor in a small town and he meets the new cop on the walk, Logan. Great dialogue and some smoking hot chemistry. I liked this one a lot. My favourite so far!

Iron Man by Meg O'Brien 3.5 Stars

Aidan is recovering from a devastating car accident that left him blinded. Bryan is a former rehabilitation specialist who used to help the blind but has moved on to another career. He agrees show Aidan a few things as a favour. This was really interesting. The MC's were really sweet together and I liked the flow of dialogue as well as the story.

First and Last by Sara York 3 Stars

Trevin and Jeffrey shared a kiss in high school. It didn't end well. The men both move back to their hometown and reconnect when Jeffrey takes over an older doctor's practice and goes on a house call to see Trevin's father. I like the history here and there's a nice epilogue.

Differential Diagnosis by Anna Martin 3.5 Stars

Liam and Dan are actors working on a medical drama. Their characters are involved in a romance storyline that bleeds out into RL as the men act on the explosive chemistry they share. The two men aren't out to the public so they remain a bit on the down low. I liked their character internet name #TeamCormate for Cormac and Nate. Cute.

In My Own Skin by Thea Nishimori 2.5 Stars

This one started out okay but then got a bit odd.

Rx for Sex by Bru Baker 3.5 Stars

A bit of a bittersweet story about an established couple having relationship issues due to lack of time together because of hectic hospital work schedules. Nicely written though with great dialogue and a super hot sex scene.

Kind by Samuel Scott Preston 3.5 Stars

Rod is too highbrow for me to really connect with him. That being said he's a good guy with a foot fetish. ;) I liked this story a lot but I found the characters a bit young. Derek is an injured football player and Rod is a graduate student in athletic training and is there for the initial diagnosis.

Hero Worship by Kris T. Bethke 4.5 Stars

This was wonderful. Really wonderful. Loved it.

Tourniquet by Kaye P. Hallows 3 Stars

A doctor is injured helping victims of the Boston bombings and he and his nurse hit it off. It was good but not to my taste.

Pain Management by Brigham Vaughn 3 Stars

A massage therapist helps a man suffering from chronic migraines. I felt bad for the migraine patient. That's brutal but it had a nice happy ending. ;)

Night Shift by Casey O'Neill 3 Stars

An established married couple on the rocks. Wayne is a cop and Mike is an ER nurse. Wayne's job is slowly breaking down their relationship as Mike's fears for his safety.

To The Next Level by Laura Matthews 4 Stars

A injured Gunnery Sgt and his physical therapist. I liked the progression of the relationship here quite a lot and loved the military angle. Really great dialogue and characters. I liked this one quite a bit.

Individual stories are rated in the status updates. This is a not-bad collection of hurt-comfort romances, many at the early stages, several with no sex at all.

Standouts are "Iron Man" by Meg O'Brien, "Differential Diagnosis by Anna Martin, "Tourniquet" by Kaye P. Hallows, and "To the Next Level" by Laura Matthews.

Right-hand Man by Rob Rosen - 3 Stars
Fun, quick, and dirty.

Mend What is Broken by Fil Preis - 3 Stars
This short story was by new-to-me author Fil Preis. It was nothing groundbreaking, but I enjoyed it. The writing was clean, the characters engaging, and the story was perfectly paced given the short page count. Bonus points for setting this one in Canada. Bonus points taken away for lack of smexy times.

Doctor in the Desert by S.C. Wynne - 3 Stars
The writing in the first half of this story was decidedly so-so and that first date was awkward as hell (a by-product of the so-so writing more so than by design, I think). Thankfully, Wynne ramped up the characters' chemistry in the bedroom and the smex was pretty good. When she followed that up with a sweet, playful, joyful morning after, the story was redeemed.

Iron Man by Meg O'Brien - 2.5 Stars
Age gap? Big fan. Instalove? Not so much. This story about a man recently blinded in a car accident and his unofficial rehabilitation therapist was truckin' along just fine until one of our MCs, Bryan, dropped the "I think I'm falling in love with you" bomb waaaaay too early. That sound you hear? It's the screeching brakes on my enjoyment of this story. Still, some of Bryan's internal dialogue was pretty smile-inducing, so it wasn't a total write off.

First and Last by Sara York - 2.5 Stars
I was frustrated by the fact that the all of the moments in this story that should have been packed with heightened, complicated emotions felt too easy (seeing the guy that called you a faggot in front of your peers in high school again for the first time in more than a decade? Meh. It's water under the bridge. Your father dies after a prolonged illness? Whatevs. You had a good life. I'll catch you on the flip side, Pops.). I was also not a fan of the fade to black sex. Call me what you will, but that shit is a cardinal sin in my romance books. However, the writing style was smooth and the characters seemed like average, relatable guys (which I love), so the story had its positive points too.

Differential Diagnosis by Anna Martin - 3.25 Stars
Let's start with the positive, shall we? I have a total and unapologetic weakness for the actor/Hollywood type trope. Lifestyles of the rich and famous? Bring it on, Robin Leach. So when I saw that I was getting a Hollywood story written by ANNA MARTIN of all people, I was sure that this story was going to garner a 4 or 4.5 star rating from me.

And it was so heading in that direction until it the story just... ended on a heaping pile of "what the hell just happened?!" Like, one minute the characters were bringing the cute on the down low, the next they were bringing the illicit sexy on camera, and the next the story was just... over. In the middle of the scene. On a ho-hum note. WTF?! In fact, the ending was so abrupt, I was convinced I had accidentally skipped forward a bunch of pages on my Kindle instead of just one, and went back a few pages to double check. Nope. Hadn't been user error. So then I wondered if the copy I had downloaded from Amazon had a flaw. Nope. Not that either. No... Anna Martin had just ended the story in what felt like the middle of a sentence.

So, it's with a heavy heart, but I can't give her full marks for such squandered potential. :(

In My Own Skin by Thea Nishimori - 1 Stars
After reading the "About the Author" section at the end of the story and realizing how personal this story is to the author, I feel a little bad about the 1 star rating. Not enough to change it, but, you know... Still bad. Overall, this story just didn't give me enough romance or feels and Tony was such a pushy d-bag that I found myself actively rooting against what I can only loosely call a "couple."

Rx for Sex by Bru Baker - 2.5 Stars
Story about a couple going through a bit of a rough patch, solving it with hot sex in the on-call room. Probably the sexiest of the anthology so far.

Kind by Samuel Scott Preston - 2 Stars

I was intrigued by the premise of this short story - an openly gay man that forces himself back into the closet to pursue a career in the uber masculine world of professional sports and sports medicine. I hate that anyone would feel the need to do this, but I understand that the potential for this happening in real life does exist. And so I turned the pages...

Unfortunately, this story never quite lived up to my hopes for it. It would be truckin' along as a perfectly acceptable 3 star story and I would start to get warm feelings towards it, and then next thing I knew, the author would slip in a bizarrely distracting plot point (uncontrollable erections and weirdly timed foot fetishes come to mind) or piece of dialogue and I'd be left scratching my head. Then, there was a bit of manufactured drama and a completely inappropriate (and, in my opinion would-never-happen-in-real-life) ultimatum, and all my positive feeling about the story disappeared in a puff of smoke. Also, they were supposedly in love and yet we didn't even get so much as a kiss. I call bullshit on that.

Hero Worship by Kris T. Bethke - 3 Stars
Both the beginning and ending of this short story were pretty cute, and I'm totally giving bonus points for the hot yet realistic smexy bits. Unfortunately, the middle of the story, the why-I-can't-be-with-you rationale, was laughably weak. Good, but not Bethke's best.

Tourniquet by Kaye P. Hallows - 3.5 Stars
Now that's what I'm talking about! The clichéd crabby but brilliant doctor and the kind yet sassy nurse falling in love was right up my alley. I liked both characters, thought the story flowed well and felt complete, and I appreciated setting a tale as old as time against something as topical as the Boston Marathon bombing.

Pain Management by Brigham Vaughn - 2 Stars
I'm starting to feel like my apathy towards them is a recurring theme with the additions to this anthology. The writing wasn't anything special, the characters weren't particularly memorable, and as much as the the idea of orgasms as pain management made me smile and waggle my eyebrows, I just couldn't get behind the idea of Breaking those legal and ethical boundaries made me feel squicky.

Night Shift by Casey O'Neill - 3 Stars
One of the things I like best about anthologies is the chance to try new-to-me authors in a way that is a little less pressure than a full-length novel. I liked this little story of an estranged but very much in love married couple that made their way back to each other.

To the Next Level by Laura Mathews - 3 Stars
A gruff, inured Gunnery Sgt. falls for his physiotherapist? Heard that one before (but it doesn't matter in the slightest). This story was well written and there was some cute touches that made me go, "awwww!"

This anthology was AWESOME!!!
I freely admit I'm a fan of anthologies. I like short stories and I usually pick up what to read choosing from the pool of my favorite themes. So a bunch of theme-oriented short stories is a win-win situation for me. And it's a great chance to sample new (to me) authors.

And here it was just a great read all over. Seriously I loved all these stories: some touched me more, than the others, but still I enjoyed every one of them! Great work from the editor here - the stories were diverse and I couldn't put the book down till I've read all of them :) Now I'll check the authors' other works!

I hope new authors continue to write, cause their debut stories were so good!

The title works on this anthology, as most of the stories in it made me feel good. Like any anthology, there were stories that worked for me better than others. Three of the ones that spoke to me the most included Iron Man, a story about a man blinded in an accident. He's an appealing character, someone I could totally understand the POV character falling for.

Another story that I really enjoyed was The Tourniquet. Set immediately following the Boston Marathon bombing, it told the story of a House-like doctor injured in the blasts, and a nurse who cares for him in the aftermath. Both of these characters were great, and I found myself really caring about them ending up together.

The third story that touched me was the final one in the anthology, To the Next Level. The MC is a retired Marine in rehab after losing one of his legs and injuring his arm while in combat. His characterization captures that tough, upright mien of a career Marine, while also showing us his vulnerable side. Working in rehab. myself, I appreciated his love interest therapist, and the way his recovery is depicted.

I’m an anthology junkie. They are the perfect way for me to find new for me authors and read something fun in the time it takes for a dentist appointment. I thought the concept of this anthology was fun and couldn’t wait to dig in and find a few treasures.

I enjoyed quite a few of the stories in this anthology. It was a great addition to my collection. I appreciated the unique approaches the different authors took the theme of people in the medical field and created such diverse stories, excellent editing from Dreamspinner Press. There were patients, doctors, therapists,  and every other combination. Who doesn’t like a man in a lab coat?

Some of the highlights were:

S.C. Wynne’s Doctor in the Desert. About a cop and a doc. finding common ground, respect, and each other.

Bru Baker is always solid and Rx for Sex was no exception. Although not a funny read like some, it was incredibly full of emotion and was artfully written. I was lost from the first scene to the last. A beautiful story.

Iron man by Meg O’Brian was awesome and different. The story is about a blind man and his neighbors son. It was refreshing and new.

Right-hand Man by Rob Rosen was funny and sexy and completely impractical, but I laughed the entire time.

Pain Management was fantastic. A story about a man who suffers from terrible migraines and is going through pain management and part of that is massage. It was believable and well done.

Most of these stories are full of wit and and joy at new love. Some like Bru’s are about a love rekindled. All of them are worth a read.  A solid set of stories and I know you will find a new author for you to grab, just like I did.

With this being an Anthology, I knew going in, these would be short stories. With that being said, I would love to see if a few of these stories might expand. I will be putting authors on alert to see if I will get just that. Plus, I want to see more of what each author has for me to read!

I truly enjoyed that each story had a different aspect to it. Dreamspinner did a great job of collaborating this. It's not the same story over and over again. Or the same medical profession every time. For example there is a story based on a soap opera medical drama, one based on a pain clinic, and one based on the Boston Marathon bombing. This is just a few themes of the 14 different stories.
It also shows each author's own twist on different characters, plots, love and romance.

If you haven't read this yet, you definitely should.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.25 stars

It’s really hard to review an anthology in its entirety, but since this one has fourteen stories and I’m not sure how many of you want to read individual reviews for each, I’m going to attempt it. As always when you’re talking about a collection, there were a few stories that just didn’t work for me, but not many. This collection really was wonderful, full of diverse characters and lots of inventive takes on the premise. When I first opened up the book, I thought I was going to get sick of reading medical themed stories after three hundred pages, despite the fact that I normally love them, because I expected them to all be similar, but that was not the case.

Read Angi's review in its entirety here.

Most are short stories, but with 14 tales in the book, there is plenty of reading.
Most get right down to the sexy times very quickly so don't expect lots of will they/won't they - they will and do!
The last four stories are much longer - I got to 57% by the end of the 10th story, so was looking forward to these end ones. Being longer gives more buiild up and added to the yum factor.
I enjoyed all the stories - they range from forces amputees to domestic bomb victims; real doctors and tv doctors; cops and docs; doctors and nurses; migraines and psoriasis; blindness and first crushes reconnecting. Lots of different styles but all good. New authors and old favourites.

An anthology of stories about men in the medical profession and their relationships with each other, this book gave me pleasure from start to finish. About 80% of the stories were 5 star rated in my not so humble opinion but all had excellent writing and maximum entertainment value. Very much worth reading!

Anna Martin’s Differential Diagnosis:

This story is just all kinds of cute. Liam and Danny are both adorable. I loved that Liam’s very open and very accepting. The TV medical drama was very Grace Anatomy – I’d say very O’Malley of Grace Anatomy but nah – different story arc people. I just adore Anna Martin’s writing so this is a total win.

I'm working my way through this anthology and am enjoying it so far.

Right now, I think my favorite is Iron Man by Meg O'Brien. I'm a sucker for blind main character stories and I really loved this one and the pace of it for being a short story.

Temp on hold…about half way through.

I have never understood the fetish with everything medical, but these stories are quite nice. Some sweet, some just too short, but all in all a great anthology. Makes you wish every doctor looked and acted like this.....

I love anthologies! I do! ♡
Of course, there are stories I love more than others but I just love the compilations, lol!
There are also definitely some that I was all, MORE! It just can't end there, no fair! ;)
But definitely, some new authors to watch out for! :)

3.5 stars. Only one or two duds out of a nice collection of short stories that were perfect for small breaks in the day.

There were some really hot short stories in this...In fact they were all pretty good...but i think my favourite was the second to last.....the cop and his husband the dr who were married but seperated.....no sex in it but damn the way it was told was amazing...would have made a great full length novel.....Great set of stories x

Good stories

There is a wide variety in this collection, even though they all have a "medical" theme. It is fun to read and some bring up issues that need more thought. My thanks to all the authors.

Some great stories, not an awful one in the bunch! I think I've found some new favorite authors.
