Domenic D'Angelo is an accomplished liar. He has to be. As second in command of the mob family, The Liseni, he's seen almost everything. That is until his boss, Carlo Commisso, kidnaps Alexis Montgomery: the daughter of a small town sheriff who witnessed something he shouldn't have. Charged with keeping Alexis safe until her father has a lapse of memory in court, Domenic finds himself drawn to the girl. Having subsisted on rage and vengeance for almost a decade, she brings out emotions in him that have long since been dead.
The situation becomes critical when Alexis has served her main purpose and is living on borrowed time. She finds herself in the precarious position of having to trust a mob-hardened criminal, who despite everything, has kept her safe against the men he works for in a bid to save her life. But trust is hard-earned, and Alexis finds out not everything Domenic tells her is the truth.
This is a story about survival, destiny and the awakening of a forbidden passion. Thrown into a dangerous inferno of deception and crime, how can they survive the flames?
Unfortunately this story didn't grab my attention, I didn't feel like I connected with the story nor got attached to the characters. The writing wasn't bad but didn't work for me
I don't consider kidnapping and violence (including a staged rape) as acceptable plot events leading to romance. The old "kidnap and fall in love" is a cliche that has been around a l-o-n-g time. It permeated my mom's romance novels in the late 70's and the 80's. I found it distasteful then as a teen, and even worse today as an adult. This story tries to pretty up the situation by making the kidnapper someone other than the leading man, but it still fails. I didn't like the character or the story.
The Sacrificial Lamb is the first in a series of books by a new, but talented, author.
This book has a little bit of something for everyone - suspense, action, romance, hidden agendas and zing!
Alexis and Dominic are the central characters in this story line. Caught in an impossible set of circumstances while trying to decide what's right, who to trust, and ultimately what to do, these characters embark on a dangerous adventure, with a twist or two thrown in for good measure. The writer's attentions to detail, steamy sex scenes, and interesting plot take the reader on an emotive journey where you'll find yourself knowing that something's going to happen, but amazed at how things come to pass.
As a debut novel, The Sacrificial Lamb is a real page turner and it's my kind of read.
Bring on book 2, Ms Fiore. I'm hanging for more, and I for one, don't want to wait!
I really struggle with the concept of fan fiction. It seems to me that now people write a story about absolutely anything and in order to tempt people to read it substitute characters names with Edward and Bella. Other than the fact that the hero is strong and protective of the female I see no connection. I feel this could have stood on its own as a good little thriller. The story was exciting, the sex was hot and the characters were exciting. I enjoyed it.
OMG is all i can say. This book was full of every emotion possible I loved every minute of it and read it in record time due to not putting it down. I fell in love with Domenic and his passion to protect and love Alex.. Can't wait for more ...
ok, i thought, perhaps, there were some changes from the ff, so i give it a try but it's the same. at least i saw some old characters again after a looooong time...
I read the original fan fiction multiple times and this was even better! I was pulled into the drama and romance and still managed to be surprised with the twists. Can't wait for the sequel!
