There is a current idea that writing several shorter books and making a series is the thing to do. A truism that holds water only if the story and characters feel developed fully, and unfortunately the characters in this story felt flat to me, and showed some truly questionable behavior.

Lexi runs into an old friend at university, and is stunned by the changes she sees in Whitney: not all changes are for the better, yet her older, obviously well off boyfriend seems to be all that. Under the guise of “guiding and helping’ her friend, she starts an involvement with Whitney’s man, a Dom who prides himself on ‘breaking in’ subs for others.

Eric was wholly unlikable; one would think that a novice to the lifestyle would need some gentling and slow introduction, and that the lack of honesty between Lexi and her friend, or Whitney and Eric show a basic lack of trust that would be the lynchpin of any Dom/sub relationship.

Lexi was bland, overcurious and rather too self-important for me, I don’t have a judgment on her submissive side, that felt real if a bit quickly developed. Whitney was almost a non-factor, serving more as filler than character. While the sex scenes that were detailed were hot and well written, there was something missing from all the characters that would have engendered my caring about what happened next. In fact, much of the discussion of “possible options’ and more extreme acts that push the pain/pleasure boundary were more interesting as undetailed topics of conversation than the interactions between the characters.

What happens is a non-ending that is less cliffhanger and more frustration: few of my questions were answered, and I don’t have enough of a tie to the characters to want to read the next to see what answers are forthcoming.

I received an eBook from the publisher for purpose of honest review for the Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

OMG. Another bad BDSM book, the latest to jump on the bandwagon. I am not amused. Much like FSOG, this just reads like fanfiction. This hus deserves a negative star rating.
