First of all, what a great cover! Something a little different.

I've got to say, I really liked this book. To be completely honest, it is not the kind of book that I usually read so I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it but straight away it caught my attention and it became a quick and enjoyable read.

Right from the start I loved the characters. Zoey and Evan have a great friendship and I was crossing my fingers for them all the way through. I also absolutely loved the side characters - the banter back and forth made for some really hilarious moments!

The blurb tells you the basic outline of the story and I don't want to give any spoilers so I won't talk too much about the plot but I do want to say that I really liked Michelle's writing style. It flowed so well and made this book really easy to read.

And the epilogue?? Wow, what a fabulous epilogue. Loved, loved, loved it!

I really look forward to reading more of Michelle's books!

***A great big Thanks to Michelle Lee for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review***

~~ SPOILER FREE~~

I am in complete awe of this book that I can’t even begin to say how much I enjoyed reading it. After reading the synopsis and viewing the video trailer my expectations were high. A Four Letter Word managed to meet all my expectations plus more.

A Four Letter Word is very light and easy read, it gave me a little bit of everything I would want in a story. From the friendship to the love to heartbreak and finally the happily ever after.

The second I began reading A Four Letter Word I was reeled in by the easy banter of Evan and Zoey. Their friendship is beautiful; you can feel the love and trust that they have in each other. Don’t get me started with their new friends. They are amazingly outspoken and teased like there was no tomorrow. Once you got all the characters together it was a recipe for fun.

But not everything could be fun in games. Along comes Griffin and sweeps Zoey off her feet, leaving Evan on the sidelines. No matter how much Zoey tries to keep her best friend close, Evan is determined to stay away one way or another. That is until Zoey’s wedding day with Griffin that Evan finally decides to take declare his undying love for Zoey.

I could feel my heart breaking for Evan and Zoey. The anticipation of whom she would choose was nerve wrecking. I kept thinking of different scenarios in my mind of how this would end, but nothing prepared me for what I was in store for.

As for the epilogue I would have preferred for it to be closer to the end of the book. But I understand why she had to date it so far apart.

Michelle Lee has fascinated me with A Four Letter Word and I am looking forward to her future book releases. Maybe a novella to accompany this amazing book (hint, hint).

Won this book from First Reads! Shipped fast, signed by author and came with a matching book mark.

After reading the prologue in 'A Four Letter Word' I immediately thought to myself "yup know the ending to this one". Sure this is your typical, predictable love story however, good stories are good stories. Even if the subject has been repeated time and time again the story itself can be different and interesting. I did not expect to get engrossed in this book but was shocked at how quickly I finished it.

Unlike most love stories I related a lot to this one. After seven years of friendship my best guy friend confessed he had been in love with me the entire time, we celebrated our 10th anniversary this year. The characters were a bit cliche and a bit immature at times but overall I liked them all. And I was pleasantly surprised at the twist in this story that I did not see coming at all!

I have seen some reviews slamming this book for being Twilight fanfiction and honestly, who cares?!?! Lots of works be it literature, film, music or art are inspired by other works. Why would anyone discourage others just because they got an idea from somewhere else? You never know, some of these fanfiction writers might go on to write some wonderful original works just because they took at shot pulling from another story they loved. Maybe if it wasn't for that original book, they would never had tried writing their own stories at all. Lift one another up, not tear each other down.

I'm sorry to say that I could not like this book.

Characters speak and act as though they never left high school, and are written as cliches. The longtime, fashion-challenged gal friend just needs a makeover by her fashion-obsessed best friend. The gay guys use words like fierce and fabu and Leer at every attractive straight male in sight. The male and female best friends dance around the will-we-or-wont-we until you just don't care anymore.

~2.5-3 STARS.~

"The not knowing, the what ifs...that is what will kill you. It's better to put yourself out there and know the truth so you can move on, rather than sit in silence and slowly torture yourself with what ifs."

Okay, so I've read a few books wherein best friends fall in love with each other yada yada yada, this one's no different maybe except for its ending. Very original. Never really saw that one coming.

All in all, it was okay. Or not.

I was honored an ARC of A Four Letter Word, by: Michelle Lee; for an honest review.

Honestly-It was a great book. I give it a 5 star. Really enjoyed it. Writing was great. Characters were amazing, absolutely loved them all. Story line was not what I was expecting, but was hoping for. I really enjoyed this book. ONLY reason it took me longer to read it than it usually does, is because of my hectic, personal busy life I been having the last few weeks. But each chapter I had to stop at, until I could continue, stayed in the back of my mind.Never forgot where I was and what was happening.

Michelle, you did an amazing job!!!! I cannot wait to see what you have in store for the cover, I sure hope it is as amazing as the book is.

Like most of my other reviews, I do not like to give all the details, that's what the blurb is for :]
You need to read it. And just know it will be worth it.

I always love the epilogue's, especially this one. That was a long time from where the book ended, at first I was like damnnnn, but when I read it, I had a smile on my face from ear to ear.

It defiantly doesn't need a book 2.

Perfect for a stand alone book. Loved it.

I really enjoyed this sweet, romantic story about Zoey and Evan. They have been best friends since they met 12 years ago during their sophmore year of high school. You will read about how they first met & how these two have managed to strictly keep their relationship in the “best friends” category for so long. Will Zoey ever find that four letter word??

Evan isn’t the jerk Zoey was told he was when she first lays eyes on him in high school. He turns out to be the nice guy, the one she feels close to, safe with and could always count on. The more she gets to know him through the years, her feelings change for him. But she doesn’t think he’d share those same feelings, so she’s kept hers locked away. She just settles for having him in her life regardless of how she really feels about him.

I experienced some laugh out loud moments, frustrating moments and ones that made me smile. Evan and Zoey have both had relationships with other people through the years, but they always seemed to be missing something and never lasted long. You will experience more of Zoey’s thoughts in this book rather than Evan’s. I did not think, for one minute, that I would get what I did close to the end of this book. I was taken by surprise. What Michelle Lee gave me was a treat in the way she layed out this storyline & the characters of Zoey and Evan, as well as the sub-characters which help to make this an enjoyable read. It was different, refreshing and I loved discovering an author that is new for me.

I’m looking forward to reading more books by this author.

4 Best Friend Stars

There are lots of four letter words. I use a lot of them. But this four letter word...L.O.V.E. can be one of the most beautiful. Most hurtful. Most hopeful.

Zoey is in love with Evan. Evan has been her best friend since high school. They have remained close through college, jobs, boyfriends and girlfriends. But she can't bring herself to profess that four letter word to him. What is he rejects her? She will have lost not only the hope of her long time love, but also her best friend.

Griffin is the cute guy she meets at a Halloween party who makes her forget that she has been holding onto this unrequited love for 12 years. He is a totally hottie and he is actually interested in her. So what's the problem you ask? That pesky Evan. Does he feel the same way about her? Why won't he just step up and tell her if he does? Oh...the same reason she doesn't tell him.

The book was fun, flirty and tension filled. You know Evan is going to confess his true feelings..its right there in the prologue. But what happens after...the big "turning point" was a disappointment to me. I loved the story. The secondary characters are great. But the Bobby Ewing Moment fell flat for me. If you can get past that small quirk in the story, it is a fun read.

I won this book in a giveaway. I liked it to a certain extent... It felt to me like every other chick flick type movie I have watched and was all to predictable. The characters seemed extremely immature and not very well developed and at sometimes I found the main character annoying.

I will save everybody 200 pages of one of the poorest-written novels ever and tell you that 90% of this book happened inside the head of the main character. I got to the ending and I was so angry that I was barely able to read the actual happy ending. Which only just made me angrier and angrier the longer it went on.

Not to say that the actual book was doing great up until the last chapter. Right from the first chapter, these characters acted like five year olds on cocaine, rather than people who were pushing 30. 90% of this entire novel felt like nothing but this obnoxious filler. If I had confidence that anybody bothered to beta-read this, they would have told her to literally just don't.

But hey! If garbage like this can be published (self-published or not), I feel like everybody has a chance of getting published!

"There is one word, however, consisting of four harmless little letters. Alone and separate from each other, they have no power and only communicate sounds. But, when they strung together in the right order, they have meaning and depth and power. Above all else, they are explosive."

A sweet, romantic, and truly beautiful story that will make you smile. In A Four Letter Word we're taken through Zoey and Evan's journey. The best friends that have always been in love each other, yet have never accepted those feelings. Doubts, fears, and essentially, life always getting in their way.

Throughout the book, we're taken back-and-forth in time. We get to experience Zoey and Evan in high school, which is where they met, we get a few past memories of them during college, and of course, present day. The way this book was written - so natural, so real - made it super easy for me to feel everything Zoey felt and experienced. All those butterflies, her heartbreaks, even her frustrations.
"I'm just Zoey. I'm just his best friend."

At a Halloween party, everything changes for Zoey and Evan. Zoey meets Griffin. To say that doesn't go well with Evan, would be putting it mildly. Throughout the years, they've both dated other people, but this time it's different. From that moment on, their friendship went on the bumpiest ride ever. All those years spent together were quickly put to the test. And my heart just sunk. It literally broke for Zoey and Evan.
"My worst nightmare has become a reality; I've completely lost my best friend."

There were moments where I kind of wanted to slap some sense into both of them, moments where I wanted to just shake them... but then, there was also Griffin. And let me tell you, that guy is dreamy!!! I felt so torn between Evan and Griffin. I wanted Zoey to be with Evan but dammit!!! Griffin was making things difficult... he treated Zoey like a princess. How could I not love him, too?

As I turned the pages, all I kept thinking was, how is this author going to work things out? Sheesh!! I could've come up with a million theories and never in my life would I've even imagined what ended up happening. I was floored. Yep. That twist towards the end?? WHOA! I did NOT see that coming... at all. WHAT!?! It literally made my jaw drop to the floor. Props to the author!

This book had me laughing, smiling, feeling antsy, at times frustrated and heart broken, but it generally warmed my heart. That ending was just beautiful. It's what true love is all about. I recommend this book to all romance lovers!
"You have always had my heart, and I can't live without it - without you. I'm home with you."

It probably only took me a couple of days to read A Four Letter Word, which is about my average when I’m working and (attempting) to write, also. This story follows the lives of Zoey and Evan—two people who have been best friends since they were in high school. Zoey is chasing that allusive four-letter-word, to share her life with one person forever. The funny thing is, she already has it, but is too afraid to admit it for fear of losing her best friend.

The relationship Lee shows us between Zoey and Evan is incredibly sweet. Evan is Zoey’s emotional net—always there to comfort her, encourage her and lend her the support she needs. We get continual snippets of Evan’s love for Zoey: a flashback to the school dance when Zoey’s recent ex-boyfriend has just shown up with another girl, his overprotectiveness of her when it comes to dating and his constant watching of her, reading her body language and her facial expressions.

Although Evan tries to disguise his love as nothing but brotherly concern, we can see that he is just as in love with Zoey as she is with him. He even goes to the physical extreme of Zoey when it comes to dating other women just to try and escape, but inevitably, it was a girl who looked exactly like Zoey that forced him to come face-to-face with his true feelings.

It was a kiss under the mistletoe at a New Year’s Eve party that starts it all for Zoey – crumbling her carefully constructed walls designed to hold back all those clandestine feelings she has for Evan. Despite Zoey’s best efforts, she has never been able to truly push away those feelings of love for Evan, even going to the lengths of being ‘okay’ with Evan dating other woman and trying to become their friends.

Evan on the other hand doesn’t handle Zoey dating other people very well at all. When she starts dating Griffen, Evan pulls away from her completely, putting distance between them—not because he wanted to, but because watching the girl of his dreams with another man tore him apart inside.

There were some intense characters in this book. I saw that they had their place in the story, but for me, they were a little too much to take for more than a few pages at a time. And despite the character’s ages, I also found some of the dialogue a little too ‘high school’ sometimes.

There’s a strange twist with this book that I must admit, didn’t see coming. I found myself yelling at my Kindle, asking what the hell had just happened. I likened this twist to A Christmas Carol type situation, but instead of ghosts from Christmas future, we have a Jaeger-induced glimpse into the future.

Was it a predictable plot? Yeah, it was, but I was willing to overlook that because I really connected with the two main characters. It’s a nice love story about two best friends who have finally realized they’ve found the right person to fall in that four-letter-word with.

***ARC***

Zoey has loved Evan since that day her sophomore year in Biology. They were paired as Lab Partners and never would she have thought that they would be best friends for the rest of their lives. Zoey has always told herself that she is not Evans type and that he only sees her as a friend and nothing more. Little does Zoey know, that just one greeting by a complete stranger will throw her life into a tailspin of events that will forever change the way she sees Evan.

Zoey and Evan are at a Halloween Party with Ashlee their other Best Friend and Evan is carted onto the stage by the Hosts to partake in a Costume Contest. Out of nowhere Zoey sees Griffin. It is like the two are instantly drawn to one another and she winds up kissing him. Griffin doesn’t want to see Zoey go at the end of the night and they exchange numbers with words of promise to call that week. Griffin and Zoey wind up in a relationship and the whole time, Evan is slowly slipping away from her. She doesn’t understand why this is happening. He has always been there for her with the other guys she is with.

Evan is tired of picking up the pieces of Zoey’s broken heart when guys break up with her. He is tired of playing the Best Friend and wants more, but has no idea how to tell her, so the only thing he can do is distance himself and it is killing him inside not being able to communicate with the one person who makes his life worth living.

Zoey has finally found the guy that she that Four Letter Word too, and is happier than she has been in her life, but she has this emptiness in her heart where Evan should be. Zoey is about to walk down the aisle to marry Griffin and has asked her dad for a moment alone. She turns around and standing in front of her is Evan. He has something to confess to her before she walks down that aisle to marry Griffin.

What he has to confess will forever change the way that Zoey feels about Evan. Does Zoey love him like he loves her and run into his arms with the same feelings or will she push him out of her life forever with it being too late for his confession to her…..

Well, the book description basically says it all. BUT.....I still thought this book was a total enjoyable read.
Let me start off with the cover: OMG, No half naked, muscule packed, tattooed guy? THANK YOU, Michelle Lee. It´s been a while since I´ve seen a cover without a body on it. That´s what actually caught my attention in the first place. It was white * smile * (white covers are rare these days).
With all the new stories I´ve been reading lately, I can´t say this story was something new. A Four Letter Word is not original and it´s predictable. Still, I found this book to be absolutely cute, simple, slightly different and totally romantic. It´s a classic romance!
The tension in this novel is perfect and there is no uber drama, which I thought was really great.
It´s kind of like the author wanted the romance genre to go back to the roots. Keep it normal, with events readers will most likely be able to relate to, and add some angst towards the end, leaving a reader with a smile. I couldn´t have asked for more.
Reading about the characters and what they went through to find their own happiness was so cool. I´d like to call Evan and Zoey´s friendship / relationship an „ old school angst“ because you knew they were friends....and you also knew there was more. A blind person could have easily seen that they were meant for each other, but the characters weren´t sure themselves. When doubt comes in the picture, you start doing the „ What if´s“. And that´s what happened with Evan and Zoey. The „ What if´s „ were to much to handle and then BOOM! ( and no....I didn´t spoil anything here. Promise)
The end was fantastic. I hardly saw that one coming. It was cool to see that somehow history does repeat itself in one way or another. Fab ending!
A well written story with great characters. I´d recommend this book anytime!

Since I'm getting back into reading this was a great book to start off with. It did start off a little slower than I like, but it definitely caught my attention within the first chapter. As I continued to read, I could easily picture and relate to the characters and settings that were displayed. If you have ever had that one really close friend and ever had a moment of blurred vision where you wonder if there could ever be more between you, then you would definitely be able to relate to this book. With the set up of the entire story line, you can easily see that Zoey is trapped in the wonderment of "what could be". As you read through what appears to be current happenings, the author catches your attention and establishes a sense of suspense and almost engages your emotions as they display a sense of reality that can be felt through the words that Zoey shares through-out the whole book. Yes, there is a touch of "high school drama" that can be felt between the characters; however, if you let yourself become fully engaged with the happenings of the story, then you can feel the reality of how real the story is. I especially liked the twist at the end where everything is revealed and the built up suspense is finally released, but also set up in a way that the story could be continued. I honestly found this to be a very good book and I am very happy that I was given the opportunity to experience the well written style of Michelle Lee for the first time. The story gave me a wonderment of reflection onto my own life. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone that is looking for a nice, simple love story that not only has the drama of love stories, but also contains a touch of humor. Happy reading!

Do you believe in soul mates?

That's a good question when it comes to this book. It's a BIG what if moment in time! It turned out to be so much better than I thought. If I could I would give it more than 5 cupcakes. Yes, its one of those that has your heart breaking into a million pieces and you just know Thiers nothing you can do.

As the story begins we meet Zoey, I loved her. She reminded me of myself so much, she was totally relatable. She has her two BFF's Ashlee and Evan. But she's also head over heels in love with Evan. But refuses to admit to it, to ANYONE including herself. Then her world tips slightly and she meets Griffin. He's just the perfect guy, Thiers nothing wrong with him at all. Zoey finds herself slowly falling for him and fast. But what if.......

Griffin is the up most perfect guy, he absolutely loves Zoey. Their relationship progress' at a nice slow pace but also just fast enough. They soon realize their both in love together. But is Griffin worth the price of losing her friendship with Evan?

Evan, what can I say he's THE perfect guy for Zoey. Although she doesn't say anything. Throughout the book we get to look in on past memories of Evan & Zoey growing closer and forming a very real very tight friendship. The more I learned of Evan the harder I fell for him. My heart absolutely broke for him in the bridal suite. But the question becomes "What if?" Yet again! Does she let him walk away or is it all just some sort of .........

You'll have to read it to find out. I promise this is a book that has you thinking one thing only to turn out completely different and unexpected! I sooooo recommend!

Oh my God. There are no words to describe the way that this book completely and totally consumed me from the moment I picked it up. "A Four Letter Word " Is a story that all of us can relate to from at least one point in our lives. We've all had that one friend that was always more family than anything, that you could always be yourself with in ways that no others could possibly understand, where you rode the line between love, and LOVE . The story between Evan and Zoey is a perfect tale that will pull you in from the first chapter. I smiled constantly, and as the book goes on you're pulled into the story as the words paint a picture for you. You'll grin, laugh out loud, get the ferocious butterflies in your belly and feel your heart break with each worry of the characters. Geoffrey and Patrick are a HILARIOUS addition to the book that brings a constant bit of amusement when necessary, and filling the book with their own brand of loveable fabulousness. Started and finished within hours, I couldn't possibly wait to finish this book, and though I hated to see it end, I have to honestly say it's one of the best I've read in some time. Lighthearted and yet so incredibly real at the same time, this book pulled me in and took me for a ride.

" There is one word, however, consisting of four harmless little letters. Alone and seperate from each other, they have no power and only communicate sounds. But, when strung together in the right order, they have meaning and depth and power. Above all else, they are explosive."

A Four Letter Word absolutely rocked my socks off. I LOVED it, more than I can possibly begin to describe. :)

this book was sweet. You have Evan and Zoey, 2 people who have been best friends since sophomore year of high school. now they are all grown up, and still best friends. Evan is still over protective of Zoey, and it's starting to drive a little crazy.

Deep down, Zoey has always had a thing for Evan, but in her eyes, he never has and never will see her as anything other than a best friend. She won't admit it, but she still has feelings for him, but continues to deny it, despite what everyone around her tries to tell her and make her see, that he feels the same way.

I laughed out loud during the Halloween party scene, Patrick and Geoffrey are a HOOT! Love those guys. And Ashlee, she is awesome, a truer than true best friend who tells it like it is.

Zoey meets Griffin at that party, which Evan is none too happy about. The story follows them for a bit, as well as the other characters and their interactions. When I got to the end, wow! What a twist, that was very sneaky Michelle Lee!!!

This was a quick, fast paced read. I thoroughly enjoyed it, couldn't put it down. I couldn't wait to find out what happened with Zoey and Evan. Did they stay friends? Did they ever get over themselves and admit their feelings??

I received an copy in exchange for my honest review for the author's blog tour. That being said, I'm not sure if it was the final edited version or not. If it is, then it needs to be re-edited, IMO. There were a few mistakes, and could do well with another proofread. Other than that. great book!

Congratulations to Michelle on a fantastic Debut Novel.
When I first saw the cover to this book and read the blurb a while back, it caught my eye as to wanting to read it. She certainly didn't disappoint. Another Couldn't put it down til finished book.

The storyline between besties Zoey and Evan, was hilarious, unexpected, well written but also felt the moment of a true solemate for the characters. The feeling I got through this book was warming as you felt the chemistry they felt for one another. But as both don't come forward with their true feelings, we go through the story of what happens when nothing is said.
After a build up of longing suspense, there is a twist thrown in. But it was a good one. I cannot reveal any further information than that, but its definitely a must to read.

It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to read this book and definitely would recommend to those who love a book for those time during the weekend coffee and book sitting that loves a hilarious love story with a Happy Ending.

An incredibly well written novel. It is endearing, laugh out loud funny, and very relatable to all ages. The characters are very human, three dimensional and so well written I could hear them while I was reading.

I don't think there is anyone who hasn't felt the sting of unrequited love. Zoey and Evan meet in their sophomore biology class where they are paired as lab partners and a friendship is born. Zoey feels much more than friendship, but puts her feelings aside believing that they will only be friends because Evan will never feel the same. They become the best of friends, go to the same college, even date other people- but it is ALWAYS Zoey and Evan. Until one New Year's eve when Zoey meets the ever so attractive Griffin.

Do Zoey and Griffin fall in love? Will Evan and Zoey' s friendship be severed? Will Zoey finally admit her feelings for Evan? Nope, no spoilers here! I highly recommend you take the time to discover A Four Letter Word!

OMG I freaking loved this book. I fell in love with every character I mean this book was a sweet romance, but it also has me laughing so hard. Zoey and Even have been best friends since their sophomore year of high school and they are both in love with each other but to afraid to admit to their feelings. Then Zoey meets Griffin at a Halloween party and well things get heated. I have to tell you though I was not expecting that surprise toward the end, but man I sure did love it. This book was super cute, funny, and romantic and absolutely one of the best epilogues I have read lately. Definitely 5 amazing stars that I literally did not want to end.

This was actually a unique love story. Where there any surprises? No, not really (except for one twist that I won't give away). But it was a fresh take on a love story. I loved the characters, and if I was a crier then I would have gone threw a few tissues!!! I felt my heart breaking for both characters.
The only issues I had was sometimes there would be words missing or actually extra words. This would hurt the flow every once in awhile. I would have to re-read things a few times to figure out what it was supposed to be. But this wasn't a major issue just something that would pop up every so often.
As by the 4 stars - I would definitely recommend this book.

I would have to say that Michelle Lee did a GOOD job with this book. Zoey and Evan were like friends in which I grew up with and I felt connected and drawn in from the beginning. I actually read this book on the bus and caught myself getting stares because I laughed at many scenes and forgot where I was.

There were times when the events made me want to throw my device but in the end I was like WTH!!! I givethis book 3.5 stars and recommend it for a fast and relaxing read of a journey two friends take to find the one HEA they are looking for.

I won this book through goodreads first reads for free.

I have read this type of thing too many times for me to be really impressed with this book. I do however like it a lot and I would recommend it to everyone to read at least one time because i do not want my words to weigh heavily on this book. I find myself with mixed feelings for Zoey.

Thank you to Michelle for taking the time to write this rather likable read.

It was a little hard to get into the story at first. But as I kept reading, I couldn't stop.
The characters are memorable, there are many times when I had a smile on my face, and I loved the ending.
Yes, it is a bit cliche and it has a been-there-done-that feel to it. But it is a love story after all, and what person can honestly say they don't like a love story?
Good job Michelle Lee, and thanks for the note and bookmark! (I won the book through Goodreads.com)
