Nathan is in love with Brooke, since the first time he laid his eyes on her. But Brooke seems like a pipe dream. He's an animator and she's the Director of Development at their animation studio. He's a geeky guy with glasses, shy and he can't fathom the beautiful and dynamic girl of his dreams ever being interested in him.

That's how Nathan creates his own comic book, B-Girl, a heroine inspired by Brooke. One day they get to meet and that's the push he needed to start bringing to her office her favorite coffee, with a little surprise on a daily basis. A new project brings them close and they form a friendship. Nathan gets his hopes up, but there's also another problem. Brooke has an open relationship with Arnauld, the head of the animation studio.

I will do whatever it takes until my dreamy, cartoon-loving, Red Hot in yoga pants knows without a doubt that I’m the best man for her.

Nathan is the exact opposite of confident, charming Arnauld, but maybe that's not so bad, especially considering that Arnauld is lacking in personality. However, Brooke is a woman who loves her career and has been dating Arnauld for a few years now. Would she risk everything for Nathan? And what would happen if she found out about B-Girl? Would she be freaked out that he had a crush on her, way before they met?

B-Girl is the physical manifestation of my love and admiration for her. I think Brooke also understands by now that with her strength, kind heart and goodness she’ll always be a super hero to me.

That was such a cute read!! Nathan is not the ordinary alpha, sexy man we love to read. But I can't hide the fact that I love this kind of male characters once in a while. This story was so unique and different that it was refreshing.

I loved the coffee cups and the drawings (♥), the sketchbook (♥) and how shy and insecure he was and on the other hand, the confident, sexy heroine. Such a pair!

It was so adorable how much he loved her and had a crush on her and she just seemed so out of reach and impossible to ever dream that she would be interested in someone like him. On the other hand, she was trying to work on his confidence and to make him realize that he was so much more than he thought.

I swooned and awed many times and I just thought that it was a really adorable read. I'm amazed that not many have read this one, because I had a great time reading it. But it could be that I'm also into this kind of heroes :)

I love her passionately, with all my super powers.
I love her tenderly, still mindful of her fragile heart.
I love her completely, until she understands the majestic way she has filled me, heart and soul.

So, if you like geeky heroes, light, fun, sweet & sexy reads, this book is one that you should definitely read.

PS: I don't understand the difference between Arnauld & Arnold.. I pronounce it the same, so maybe that's just me. I just didn't figure the reason his normal name was a reason for laughter.

Book was loaned by the very sweet Jeanne! Thank you so much!! <33

I enjoyed this but I didn't feel Brooke was good enough for my Nathan maybe because she! The storyline was a little on the slow side. Also I got a bit tired of them saying how handsome and sexy each other was. But I love Nathan soo much. He was adorably geeky, clueless and sweet all wrapped in one.

What a quirky and sweet read! This was very unlike the typical romance, no alpha male here! But a cute nerdy one nonetheless.

Animate Me tells the story of love between two kindred souls, one of whom is a quiet, nerdy animator, the other a beautiful woman that's truly a nerd-loving, comic book reading one underneath!

While at first I didn't warm up to Nathan, with his quiet disposition and lack of alpha male skills, I came to admire him and love him anyways. He was passionate, caring, determined and never gave up his quest for the woman he loved.
Brooke was his dream girl, his B-girl, a comic character he had created in her image. He loved her from afar and never thought he had what it took to win her over. But it turned out his quirky and lovable nature was all it took. That and several cute carictures drawn on starbucks coffee cups that ultimately stole her heart!

Brooke is in development and works for the same company as Nathan. They've worked together for years, with Nathan secretly admiring her. One fateful day she walks into his life out of work and they're both changed forever. I really liked Brooke. She was a beautiful woman who hid her geekdom underneath expensive clothing and professional obligations. She was truly Nathan's soul mate and the journey they took to be together was touching.

I loved all the little animations throughout this book, not only the ones Nathan drew for her, but the storybook he ended up making for her during a very rough and taxing time.

There were many other memorable characters including Arnauld, Nathan's boss and Brooke's boyfriend. Even Nathan's parents were sweet and added richness to the story. The nice guy truly does get the girl and it was sweet karma for all involved.

I loved the ending and how both the main characters used animation to tell the other what they wished for, very different and original. This was a beautiful story filled with laughter, love and finding the one.

If you're looking for something different from your romance reads and are willing to give a nerdy yet beautiful non-alpha male a chance, check this out!

This is a standalone with an HEA.

I was so happy when I received the ARC for Animate Me in exchange for my honest opinion, I was asked not to hold back, so here I go... :)

I truly loved this story, Nathan won me over within the first pages, you can't help but fall in love with him.
The story is told through Nathan's POV so we get to hear everything he is thinking and feeling.

When we first meet Nathan he is this nerd who loves his cartoons and his job, animation.
We quickly get to see that he has another love, Brooke. She's captured his heart and in his eyes she is the girl of his dreams.
But Brooke is unattainable, she's not only the Director of Development at their animation studio, the head of the studio Arnauld is her boyfriend.
Because of this Nathan has learned to love and admire her from afar and through his B-Girl, the cartoon character he has created through the inspiration he gets from his love for Brooke.

An opportunity comes up that finds Nathan helping Brooke out with her computer which leads to them spending time together.
The more time they spend together the more they find how much they have in common.
Nathan can feel that Brooke and him belong together and puts a plan in place to win her heart by wooing her :)

Nathan starts by drawing on Brooke's Starbucks coffee cup, these coffee cups come to mean so much to Brooke, she saves them all and can't wait for her daily afternoon coffee delivery to see what Nathan has drawn for her.
Nathan also listens to her, he pays her compliments, he tells her how talented and smart she is but the one thing that most touched me was the way he loves her just the way she is. Her boyfriend Arnauld is always telling Brooke how she needs to lose weight as her butt is too big or that she needs to get her breasts enlarged, which has left Brooke feeling very insecure about her body. Hearing this enrages Nathan, he is determined to get Brooke to love her body and to see how perfect she is.

Arnauld has noticed Brooke has changed and he knows Nathan has played a role in these changes. He hates that Brooke is spending so much time with Nathan and hates that he is losing his control over her. Arnauld will not stand for this so he sets out to destroy Nathan.

Will Arnauld succeed in taking everything that means something to Nathan away? Will Brooke stand by Arnaulds side or will she give her heart to Nathan?

Not going to give anything away other than to say Nathan has the best family and friends. They don't hesitate to step in and help Nathan out in anyway they can, even if it means they can lose their job.

Another major plus that made me love this book was the animations Ruth has included, we get to see what Nathan has drawn for his Brooke and I couldn't help but smile and fall more in love with him *swoon*
One of my favs was his animation of Arnauld :P

Seeing Nathan and Brooke together made my heart sing, they complimented each other so well, and OMG are their sexy times HOT!

You will lose yourself in Ruth Clampett's words, she draws you in and you can't help but keep reading so you can find out what will happen next.

Thank you Ruth Clampett for writing this beautiful love story and for sharing so much of your own family with us. I learned so much about the animation world through reading Animate Me.

If you are looking for a heartfelt romance that is a little different from the norm then you will love Animate Me.

Thank you for the ARC and I'm looking forward to reading more from Ruth Clampett in the near future.

Animate Me is a geeky love story.

Nathan is a cartoon animator for an animation studio where he’s love sick for his superior, Brooke. The owner of the company is Brooke’s boyfriend. Brooke and her boyfriend are in an open relationship. Nathan is awkward and quirky who develops a friendship with Brooke by bringing her 5Bucks Starbucks coffee with his cartoon drawings on the cups. Brooke is on a ”My Fair Lady” mission with making over Nathan. Their relationship moves from friendship to a sexual nature. It created a love triangle (my definition of love triangle- one person in love or dating two people at the same time). I kept hoping

description

The cartoon quotes at the beginning of each chapter were fun. Plus all the caricatures throughout the book added a nice touch to the story.

I absolutely loved this book. So fun, sexy, and opened my eyes up to the world of animation in an entertaining and enjoyable way. The characters were complex yet relatable and the angst level was completely tolerable! I am in love with the illustrations and quotes. Reading this was a completely satisfying experience. I totally recommend it.

I had the honor and privilege to read an advanced readers copy of Animate Me the first novel by contemporary romance author Ruth Clampett.
Animate Me tells the story of Nathan Evans an animation superhero hiding in geek clothing who spends his day drawing animation for Sketch Republic and his night’s drawing his comic book B girl based on his dream girl. B girl is actually based on Brooke Tobin, a woman who is not quite comfortable in her own skin, an executive at Sketch Republic whom Nathan worships from afar. Animate Me follows the unconventional relationship of Nathan and Brooke who meet accidentally outside the work place. Through the course of the novel there are many twists and turns but in the end we find that it is important to be comfortable who you are on the inside and then you will find your happiness. We are all superheroes!
The first words in the book are the definitions of the word animate – to bring to life; to give spirit and vigor. This definition captures the absolute feel of the book and the theme. Brooke and Nathan bring each other to life over the course of the book. The most amazing part of Ms. Clampett’s novel is the weaving in cartoon characters and references to classic animation. I had to laugh out loud when characters were described like Wiley Coyote or Tweety or Pepe Le Pew. In addition each chapter starts with a classic quote that sets the mood for the events to come. All the comic references give the book such spirit and vigor. One of my favorite parts of the book is the use of the word “woo” and how the characters woo each other. The best wooing is when Nathan draws pictures on Starbucks cups of B-girl and gives them to Brooke. I just could not wait to coffee time each day in the story to see what Nathan drew.
Animate Me is a truly unique romance. The characters are great and you fall in love with them. The story is very well written. There is so much detail in each paragraph that you need to read slowly to savor each word because you do not want to miss one anvil fall or ACME bomb. If you want a sexy fun story with good romance, good characters Animate Me is for you. Get yourself a half-caf soy caramel macchiato with three pumps of sugar-free vanilla and a Splenda a comfortable chair and settle in. Before you know it you will be surrounded in cartoon hearts.

This book. Where do I start?

I read this originally as fanfiction and would be glued to my computer on a Saturday morning, eagerly awaiting an update! So when I heard this was going to be published, I literally sat glued to PC again, waiting to order!

It's one of those stories that grabs you from the first moments of reading. The shy, nerdy boy, in love with the girl on his dreams who is so way out of his league...
But it's more than that.

When you meet Nathan, you can't help but fall in love with him from the offset. This adorable chap who loves to draw cartoons for a living, idolises a girl he can't have (and has made her into a comic superhero - win!) and also has cheese wiz in his fridge!
What's not to love?

Brooke, the object of his affections and star of his own comic book series is beautiful, funny, strong, very free spirited and brings Nathan's personality alive, every time she's with him. But this is where we hit the inevitable bump in the road because Brooke is in a relationship with Arnauld, head of the animation studio.

Brooke & Nathan's friendship soon develops into something more, over a joint love of animation, Nathan's exemplary woo-bilities and a boyfriend who will play dirty no matter who gets hurt along the way and you soon realise that Brooke is definitely with the wrong guy.

Will Nathan ever get his girl? Will they find their happily ever after and be able to ride off into the sunset?
With his toon army to support him, his amazing family and a superhero attitude, he can only try!

This book also comes with the added bonus of some fabulous illustrations which help to bring this story to life. I adored these and it's great to see B-Girl in all her glory.

If you are looking for a romance that has everything and will keep you grinning throughout, then you'll find it here.
I adore Ruth's story and I'm so proud to have it on my bookshelf.

Oh Animate Me! Sweet, Hot and down right melt my heart. I really ENJOYED Animate Me! I normally don't read books that are in a Males pov but I have to say I really liked it. I always like reading clips of Male POV to see how he feels for the Girl. In Nathan's case it Melted me into a puddle..what a Mr. Woo :D ..I will be doing a full review on my blog on June 18th. Stay tune to read more amazing things about Animate Me.

Ruth Clampett gives us a peek into the Wackyland World of Animation where she grew up in her Book, Animate Me. A Contemporary "Slice of Life" involving Love, Lust, Romance, Passion, Work, Family, Dreams, and Friendship told from the Male Character's Point of View. This is a rare experience to discover and uncover how the Male Brain works and thinks when it comes to matters of the heart, and I believe it ALL to be accurate! You will need your partner, friend with benefits, and/or a cold shower to see you through the romance, but Animate Me is so much more than that! It is very, very funny, to the point that I laughed out loud with no one else around throughout the entire Book. There is also a very interesting and suspenseful storyline that unfolds - I couldn't wait to read what would happen next! Ruth's insights into the world of Animation creates a not often told environment for the story to unfold complete with quotes and references from famous Animated Characters and a "Who's Who" of Animator Greats. But, you don't need to be a fan of Animation to appreciate this story, because we all have experienced the feelings, been in comparable situations, and known people like the characters in Animate Me. I highly recommend this wonderful Book to anyone who is in the mood for a funny, romantic, suspenseful, thought-provoking, and enjoyable story. Please, do not miss this READ!

~5+++ GEEKY STARS!!~

I love this book so much!! It's one of those books that you can't put down until you finish it. I finished it around 4am and can't sleep because of my book hangover. I'm really glad that I had the chance to read it. It made me want to read comic books and learn to draw! (even if I knew early on that I can't) :D

I LOVED
1. That there's always a comic/cartoon reference
2. The super cute nerd hero and his awkwardness
3. The DRAWINGS :) Love them.
4. Nathan's Dad. He's like a grown up Jimmy Neutron!
5. That for every chapter there were cartoon character quotes
6. The slow build up of their romantic relationship
7. Their equally geeky cool friends
8. Nathan's wooing ideas ♥

I HATED
1. MOJO JOJO. :)

I just finished this book and it is AMAZING! I stayed up all night because I could not put it down. I rarely stay up to finish books, but I fell in love with this story and had to know how it ended. The author brings these characters to life in a way that makes you want them to make it. The development of the story line is so well written that ever page brings new and exciting revelations. I wish there was more, I wish the story had continued but its written in a way that I can imagine so well how their lives continue.

I can promise if you read this book you will love it and will not be disappointed. Go get it now and fall in love with Nathan and Brooke like I did.

Nathan has always loved his job as an animator at an animation studio but readers are quickly informed of his other love, Brooke. Although she’s the Director of Development at his animation studio, he considers her to be the girl of his dreams. However, a road block has always been in his way…in the form of Arnauld, Brooke’s boyfriend. So when a project allows them to work closer together, they quickly learn that they have a lot of things in common. Nathan begins drawing on her Starbucks cups and always complimenting her. Brooke appreciates his gestures as she saves the cups and anticipates what the next drawing would be. Meanwhile, her boyfriend Arnauld is the complete opposite. He’s always degrading her looks by telling her to lose weight. Enraged by Arnauld’s insensitivity, Nathan is determined to win her heart over. Ruth Clampett’s Animate Me takes readers into the rarely told environment of animation where a story unfolds full of romance, suspense, and laugh-out-loud moments

What I love about this story of chasing love is it places readers into a male point-of-view. This is something that is rare in today’s books. Through Ruth’s amazing writing, readers are given front row seats to Nathan’s feelings towards Brooke. We understand that his feelings for her are strong but the ways in which he expresses his feelings to her are simply sweet. It is nice to know that there are guys out there like Nathan.

The world of animation is something that is always been an intrigue to many. Surrounded by animation her whole life, Ruth is able to present a real life representation of this lively world. As the book defines the word “animate” – to bring to life; Ruth truly brings the characters and story to life. The interweaving of cartoon characters and references of classic animations was an amazing way of telling the story. It will draw you in leaving you impatiently trying to find out what will happen next.

As if the book didn’t have so much life to it already, the included animations brightened up its spirits. Seeing what Nathan has drawn on Brooke’s Starbucks cups made me smile. Animate Me in a way is a true story in the sense that the world presented to readers are actual environments. I thank her for sharing this with us as I truly enjoyed my time with Nathan and his mission to win over Brooke. It is truly something different from what is readily available out there. I am an instant fan of Ruth’ work and I cannot wait for what she will offer next.

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed Animate Me so much, it was a steamy, funny, and fun love story that had me glued to the pages throughout the entire book. It was one of those stories that just made me feel good by the end of it and it left feeling completely satisfied.

Nathan has crushed on Brooke from a far ever since he saw her speak at a meeting at his work. He has even created a comic book using her as inspiration. But through chance he finally has a chance to get to know the real Brooke and slowly but surely he begins to build a friendship with her. Their is just one complication, Brooke's boyfriend Arnauld who just happens to be the head of the animation studio that both Brooke and Nathan work for. But, Nathan isn't going to let that stop him from getting his dream girl.

Nathan was definitely an underdog in this story and I couldn't help but root for him, he was adorably nerdy and just an overall good guy. It was one of my favorite aspects of the story, getting to see his creative side come out and the book also contains some animation sketches that go along with the story which just brought it that much more to life.

Brooke was also a great character that eventually grew on me throughout the book, she was a damaged girl in my opinion. Her relationship with Arnauld was not a good one and it was so frustrating to see her stay with him and at times I felt like she was taking advantage of Nathan at times and he was such a good guy that I wanted him to have happiness.

Overall, Animate Me was a love story that has a bit of everything, steamy romance, love, laughter, drama. If you are looking for a good adult love story I definitely recommend this one!

I loved this sweet, charming and captivating story of a talented animator and the woman he loves - his own super-heroine. It's a fun read, and the characters are nicely fleshed out, pun intended. ;) Nathan works at an animation studio in southern California and draws his own comics outside of work. For years, he's had a big crush on Brooke, a development executive with the same studio, Sketch Republic. They grow closer after Nathan works up some courage and begins buying Brooke her afternoon coffee every day at the local Starbucks. The adorable cartoons he draws for her on the cups - a number of the drawings are featured in the book - are just part of what makes her fall in love with him, too.

But like an anvil hanging over Wile E. Coyote's head, there are problems along the way. You'll root for Brooke and Nathan as the story unfolds and we see the creative ways they draw up their own happy ending.

"Animate Me" is a thoroughly enjoyable, fun ride. I would give it 5 stars, but there are some copy editing errors that occasionally distracted me from my reading. I wished they could have been caught, because they keep the book from hitting the very high mark that it could have. I still wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone who'd like a lovely, humorous and rewarding love story.

This book was so cute and really unique. I loved it! Maybe it was a little too long, and it wasn't perfect, but I really enjoyed it. :) I loved the geeky animator guy who draws a comic book series about his crush. :) It was really different from any other books I've ever read, and I loved that besides it was really entertaining it still had some hot stuff in it. ;) And I also loved the quotes from cartoons and the drawings! :)

This was a funny and sweet look at love between two self proclaimed nerds.

What happens when you love someone from afar? When you finally give into the temptation, build up the nerve and talk to her, it's like magic. She is everything you ever wanted and more, she just has no idea who you are.

Brooke is an executive in animation. She always loved cartoons and when she discovered she didn't have what it took to be an animator, she got in the business the only way she could. Brooke is smart and funny and she has her life together, at least it appears so from the outside.

Nathan is a twenty six year old artist. He is the best cartoonist at the company he works for. He is also a serious nerd. He has shaggy hair, wears huge glasses and lives for comic books. He has a serious collection of figurines proudly displayed in his living room. So it came as a huge surprise to this reader that he was sexually inexperienced. Who would have thought!

One day, in the elevator, Nate runs into Brook on his way out for a coffee run and has a brilliant idea. He will bring her coffee and woo her. So begins their daily ritual of coffee and animation. He brings her favorite sugary sweet during and draws her a picture of the day on the cup. There is one significant issue. Brook is in a relationship...with the CEO, Arnauld.

Arnauld is a little full of himself and though he and Brooke have an "open" relationship, he quickly discovers that Nathan may be more competition that he bargained for.

Nate finds himself in a web of lies set up to catch his hearts desire: Brooke. When the walls start tumbling down he turns to those closest to him for help.

HIs father, who is by far one of my favorite secondary characters- EVER, helps him work through his problems.
“And all of the scientific data, statistical facts and empirical evidence can't compete with the indefinable heart's desire. For if in the end, she loves you, and she chooses you…none of the rest of this will matter.”

Nate wants Brooke, but there is so much standing between them. And she is desperately afraid of letting herself fall in love with anyone.

I really liked this book. It was enduring and fun and funny and just plain adorable. There was drama, but not over the top. It was a bit predictable at times but still kept me reading. It was refreshing to see a guy so out of his element in the bedroom. Most books are the reverse. Nate has limited experience and what he does have left him questioning his abilities as a lover.

Brooke isn't overly experienced but she grew up in a household where sexuality was openly expressed. She finds Nate's inexperience charming and offers to help him out. She doesn't plan to fall in love.

This was a four star read for me. It was sweet and different. So if you love a good sweet romance with a beauty and a geek, this one is for you.

Fabutastic story! That's right...F A B U T A S T I C...

patsy

I loved this story. I loved Nathan. I loved the woo-ing. I loved the cups. I loved Nathan's dad. I loved the whole animators world. There wasn't a single thing I didn't love.

And yep, this was a former FF, the author is not hiding that. I didn't have an opportunity to read it at the time so I was very pleased to be able to read the ARC. I am a fan of the author, she has a wonderful writing style and a gift for story telling. One thing I would like to point out, the story does not read like FF. Trust me, I know. I still read FF and have read many stories that were the former and published that you immediately know. Animate Me is not one of them.

The story line in itself is simplistic. Obsessive love. A little stalking. Nice guy who doesn't think he has a chance.

But really it is so much more than "that" story line.

Nathan's entire world, aside from Brooke, is animation. He lives and breaths cartoons, it's what he does. He is an animator. That in itself was an original concept that added so much texture to the story line. The author introduces a very visual world unto itself. That unless you are part of it, you have no idea what is involved. This is also the author's reality, so the statement, "write what you know", completely rings true. Not only was I completely entertained with the story, I learned a lot of things!

Foghorn Leghorn was one of my favorite characters as a kid. I never really thought much to what goes in to creating him, I just liked him.

foghorn

I will never look at cartoons quite the same way again. And thanks to Nathan, either will you.

The story itself is very well written. The prose flows along very nicely and the characterizations are well rounded. Even the secondary characters add a lot of flavor to the story. The author brings you in to the world of Nathan that is so visual, you are a part of it. I can see his home, his studio, his office, those fantastic coffee cups that he draws on daily for Brooke in his woo-ing, the comic shop he frequents, just so visual is the writing. I love that. I love when I can see the authors vision. When the characters are engaging and the story just envelops you.

Animate Me is funny, silly, romantic, some drama and trepidation, cheer worthy for the under dog, and most importantly, a really good read.

The ending had me grinning so much my cheeks hurt. I didn't want the story to end, I wanted it to go on and on. I can't get enough of Nathan. He is a great character and the story is told from his POV.

Here's to Animate Me and Ruth Clampett for bringing us such a good story! Really look forward to more from this very talented story teller.

3.5-stars #steamy # animator# apart from the norm

Nathan is a geek/nerd. There is a character after my own heart.

I don’t like Brooke character. Her unprofessional display in the workplace really annoys me. Hey, I am not even swooned by the romance in this novel. That being said, Nathan character, the supporting cast and the drawings are awesome!

If you are a fan of comic books, animation, characters with geeky brains, you may like this book. It is creative and fun.

This was one of all time fave Twilight fanfics. I can only imagine that the novel will be great. The characters were so fun and her insight into the animation world was spot on.

The hubby put a few new books on to my E-Reader. I knew nothing about most of them, so all I had was the title and author. The title Animate Me sounded interesting so I read it.

And then I kept waiting for something to happen. Anything. This was the most boring, soft-porn, romance-novel piece of drivel it's ever been my misfortune to read. I suppose if you're into romance novels (yawn) you'd like this, but I kept waiting for the characters to do something - anything - besides trot out clichéd dialogue and to have "misunderstandings" that maybe were meant to be hilarious but just came across as forced and clunky.

The author of this book ought to try reading something like Geekomancy if she wants to learn how to write an interesting book about geeks that doesn't involve them mooning over each other or having graphic sex all the time. And where something actually happens!

Not to mention the incredibly unlikely ugly-duckling transformation of the main character. Yeah, of course, if all geeks just took off their glasses, got a haircut and dressed up, they'd all look amazingly hot - and of course the guys have all got 10-inch penises hidden inside those dorky jeans.

Please, give me a break. Ugh. I only gave this one star because I can't give it 0.

Read this as a fan-fiction when I was on an embarrassing fanfic kick :/

It was one of the better ones though. Sweet love story, interesting facts and insight into the animation world.

I enjoyed it.

Read sometime in 2011-2012.

This is one of those books that, having read, seems overrated. So many people rave about it- but I could not get into the story or characters. It read like fanfiction, to me.

With great amounts of humor, cutesiness, romance, and geekiness, ANIMATE ME was a near-perfect contemporary romance! I did have some small issues with the book, but overall it was an enjoyable and satisfying read!

One of the things that originally attracted me to ANIMATE ME was the aspect of animation and comics. I'd like to think that I'm a pretty big fan of them, though I admit that I had almost no clue about how this process worked. That being said, I really liked that Clampett gives the reader a chance to look into that fascinating world! There's the little things in the setting, like the workplace, drawing board, meetings, the start of getting his comic book published etc., that truly made me curious and excited. Even Brooke and Nathan's conversations about animators made me chuckle (:

I also felt like Nathan and Brooke had great chemistry! There's plenty of instances where I find that the couple in a novel is really sweet and likable, but I can't feel their "connection". This might sound cheesy, but I really did think Nathan and Brooke had that connection and were great for each other. Both of them were such sweet characters with many similar traits, but also had many differences in their family life and goals. I really enjoyed learning about both of them and seeing them become close friends, and eventually lovers!

However, ANIMATE ME also shines with its side characters. Since this is mentioned in the blurb, I don't consider this a major spoiler, but there's an uprising of sorts against Arnauld, who's basically your big bad boss guy. Throughout this process, you see each of Nathan's family members and friends come together in their own unique ways, all to support this one person. I think the only way to really explain it is comparing it to those moments in movies where you see all the people a hero has made friends with along the way to help with a "final battle". Again, true, it may be cheesy. But it's heartwarming, and again, entertaining to read!

Another thing about this book is that it's a very readable and short read. This might be a good thing or a bad thing, but I found that the plot is just pure light, fun, and sweetness. Obviously, I personally really enjoyed this - the ending, though a bit predictable, was satisfying and warmed my heart, and the banter between the characters made me smile plenty of times! In my opinion, there's also a good deal of "cheesiness", like when you see Arnauld (literally) portrayed as an evil monkey man, and the mushy but adorable proclamations and acts of love. But again, I ended up really enjoying it, because it was so fun to read!

But I also found that ANIMATE ME was still more than just a sweet, fluffy read. For one, the different sketches you see throughout the book are great - not only do they look amazing, but they also add to my idea of Nathan's persona! And not to mention there are some, erm, let's just say "hotter" scenes too (;

ANIMATE ME is a contemporary story that entertained and delighted me from beginning to end, whether it be through its stunning sketches, literal laugh-out-loud humor, and downright adorable moments. Readers looking for a light, well-written adult or new adult contemporary romance should definitely check this on out ASAP!

I've worked in the world of selling animation art for over 20 years and had heard the "great buzz" about Ruth's book. Finally, I got to read it and was very entertained! Thank You Ruth!

This is an amazing warm story. Witty characters that are geeky sexy! I loved it as a fanfic and honestly don't understand why people can be so mean towards a really great story.

BLOG TOUR 17 GIUGNO 2013! --> http://pleaseanotherbook.tumblr.com/p...

I feel alive again, like a remastered cartoon print where every color is brighter and more vivid, every detail sharper. We laugh and joke in our own bubble, sugar flakes falling over us like snow on this brilliant California day.
