Oy vey.

DNF at 16%, skimmed to the end hoping to find flotsam and lagan I could salvage a read from.

OK, there's a teeny kernel of goodness here. In order to pare away the craptasy the author needs to learn how to write. The best way to do this is to keep writing: a lot. I suggest fan fiction. You get great feedback and constructive criticism, and, essentially, free beta readers, while you work out how to tell a story.

Because this? This is terrible. That doesn't mean the author is a terrible person; just that at the moment they are a terrible author. I'll be keen as mustard to see what they write in 5 or 6 years.

Here's the main flaws:

- horribly inconsistent characters

- horribly uncertain plot that does not know where it is going, and therefore takes the Grand Tour. Overland. Stopping for libations at every inn. Via vigilante justice, a rock band, the corniest safewords in the universe, a rescued sister, orgasm control, a private island, switching, a photo shoot in Death Valley, blood oaths, an at-risk-youth centre, and the awesome and wonderful Grand Master of all, Alec the Dom.

- dialogue for which I have no adjective, but which communicates a pervasive air of overwraught melodrama

- bad copy editing (anyone else keen to join the Angles of Justice? I've baggsed obtuse though, k?)

Jeez, because I get the feeling the author (or possibly authors?)is quite young I'd like to have more that's positive to say, but I'm really struggling.

The cover design is a nice change. I like all the white space.

I seriously do not want to fall for the cheap snark tack here, but equally I want to warn other readers to please, please, not waste your money on this book. The fact that this costs $5 on Amazon is a microcosm of everything that is wrong with indie publishing.

Delayed Gratification 180 is the first book released in a three part series. It also, the middle book in the series. Why did I chose to start in the middle? Simple, 180 offers the largest variety of character development. In order for you as my fans to be vested in the series, I wanted you to know main the players out of the gate. Will there be more? Of course there will, but these guys are key.

Delayed Gratification Tantalus is also available for your pleasure. This story follows Alec Impavido's journey from the day he told his family he was gay to the day he introduced Daniel to Clayton. Be forewarned, his story is not an easy read, but it is oh so worth it.

The final book in this series title and release date have yet to be determined. I am currently working on listening to my characters tell me what happened and believe I am shocked at some of the things that fall on paper.

All of this said, I have had a heck of a first time learning experience as a self-published author. I want to admit upfront before you invest a red cent into my writing that I am human and I made errors. I would also like to state, I did not know the ropes very well at the time of publishing 180 and by the time I knew how to correct the errors it was a very expensive process. Do to the fact I would prefer spending that money in telling the rest of the story, I have opted out of this expense at this time. I sincerely apologize to you as my fans. You deserve greatness and I promise to do better in the future.

For those of you who are able to dive into the story despite my human qualities, I adore your admiration and your positive feedback. You have allowed me to continue my quest to tell these boy's story.

Thank you for your support and I do hope I can keep you at the edge of your seat.

This story kept me captivated from beginning to end. I enjoyed the way the author was able to connect so many people to this one couple. Couple...psft! Clayton and Daniel are so much more than some couple. Their dynamic was written beautifully. They were heart-breaking, somewhat tragic, but strong, passionate and powerful. I was sucked into the details of everything about them and woven into their push and pull.

There are some light-hearted moments and humorous moments written into the story as well. It takes on some serious themes, but finds something anyone can connect to. I definitely cannot overlook their play as well. The Dom/sub relationship is taken seriously and research *wink* was definitely done to make the physical and emotional aspects relayed correctly. It is gratifying and intriguing.

I could not put the book down for one second. It was written fabulously and I recommend reading it. I can't wait for more from this story and this author.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved seeing the dynamics of D/s relationship transition to a normal vanilla relationship and the difficulty it is to continue a D/s relationship and have a vanilla relationship. This author did not shy away from the struggles in relationships because in normal everyday relationships there is always struggles. I just really enjoyed this book.

DNF. Didn't work for me due to alternating first person, present tense POV. Others may not find this problematic.

Brilliant book! From someone who clearly knows her BDSM
A roller-coaster of emotions from start to finish. I must for a seasoned BDSM reader or a reader picking up for the first time.
