It took only four months to bring the angels to their knees…
With a virus ravaging the fallen angels on earth, mankind’s symbol of love and hope is at risk of extinction.
Centuries ago, a group of angelic warriors known as The Fallen risked everything to save themselves and carve a future for their kind. Hope slips away as The Fallen and their kin are cut down by an ancient menace, La Morte Nera—and no one saw it coming.
Only one immortal can save them, and only one mortal can stand in his way…
When Nephilim warrior Killian St. James sets out on a quest to find a cure, he and his blade-brothers discover nineteen-year-old Aubrey Carter—a human with a past as dark as it is mysterious—cowering in an abandoned house in the heart of Memphis, Tennessee.
The corrupted races are chasing her, and Killian is determined to find out why…
But neither he nor Aubrey are prepared for their attraction to one another, or for the frightening truths lurking in the shadows. The painful childhood memories Aubrey has buried hold precious answers. Answers that threaten to tear Killian's world apart.
With her life hanging in the balance, Killian must choose between the future of The Fallen, and the human girl he's pledged to protect.
Demons are rising, and this time they plan to win the war for dominion once and for all.

Gah! I haven't been back into the world of fallen angels since Lauren Kate's FALLEN series and I'm so glad I had the privilege to read STRICKEN! I loved every bit of the book and how A.K. Morgen weaved the story. I was wholly immersed in Killian and Aubrey's story and how they fit together. And you can't leave out Zee, Aubry's kitten (who I am choosing to believe plays some bigger part in the story, but we just don't know it yet...). I will be eagerly awaiting the next book.
OMG I need a blackboard to keep all this straight: Fallen, Elioud, Nephilim, etc....who mates with what creates whatever, way too complicated to keep it all straight. I'll read it some day, just not today.
Fallen angels and their kin, working on their ancient quest for atonement, are facing a deadly virus, decimating their population. Killian St. James is Nephilim, a child born to a (fallen) angel and a human mother, who has pledged his life to the Fallen Warriors, protecting the humans from demons and their hybrid offspring. With the virus outbreak, however, they are more occupied with hunting all supernatural kin, demon and fallen alike. While fighting and disposing of several infected shifters, Killian and his ‘brothers’ come across a terrified human girl, who appears to having been hunted by the shifters.
Aubrey Carter is a human girl with a distant link to the fallen. She is familiar with the Elioud shifters, but has had a traumatic experience with the Nephilim. Killian and his brothers place her under their protection and set out to uncover the mystery behind the attacks and the virus. Meanwhile, Aubrey and Killian are inexplicably drawn to each other on a level usually reserved for angels and Fallen. This further complicates matters as well as endangers them.
Although the subject of angels, Nephilim and their kin is rooted in religion, the book doesn’t feel overly religious. As an atheist, I enjoyed the story of a supernatural war, the mystery of the virus, and the forbidden love. The story is action-packed, while also offering plenty of information and background when needed. Te only thing that was confusing to me was how Aubrey is identified: is she considered to be human, or Elioud (albeit without angelic talents)?
Aubrey’s kitten Zee is a very cute character with a feisty personality. It was nice to see Killian warming up to him, but also to see Zee’s protective instincts, despite his size.
This is the first book of a series, and while there is definitely more to explore, I appreciate that the author does not leave us hanging on a cliffhanger. This episode in the story is resolved, and now it’s time to move forward. I look forward to picking up the second installment, when it’s released.
The fallen angels in this book are mostly protectors of mankind & separate from demons. Very much a romance but only a mild sex scene. Added bonus there is a cute kitten featured throughout the book
One of the better warrior angels -demons books I've read in a while. A good match between the love interests, a fast pace, and a satisfactory (although, cliffhanger-ish) ending. I enjoyed the tension between the races, and the conflict of a virus killing of the supernaturals. Some of the plot was pretty easy to guess, but this lack of depth didn't detract from my enjoyment of a good read.
Stricken’ is the first book in an exciting urban fantasy romance series ‘The War Scrolls’, with fallen angels, demons, humans ,shifters, vampires and hybrids. This fast paced story follows Aubrey, more than the human girl she first appears to be. Her father and brother are dead and she is on the run from enemies too numerous to count. Killian is half human and half fallen Angel. He protects Aubrey but does he also have an agenda she knows nothing about? The relationship that develops between the Aubrey and Killian makes them both risk everything to keep the other safe but will it also risk the future of humanity? There is acute sensual tension between the two as they fight to survive and find out how to stop the deadly virus. Is their attraction deeper than their human sides bonding? The world building in this story is all important and skilfully done. You feel part of this urban hell and look for danger every time you turn a page. The characters are vivid and realistic, even though their skills are supernatural. There is an interesting dynamic between Dom and Killian as they both vie for Aubrey’s attention against a background of war, danger and a deadly virus that threatens their existence and ultimately the humans they protect. Soul mates, forbidden love and secrets from the past that have the power to destroy their future Mystery, deceit and suspense, vivid imagery and great fight scenes, enrich the plot and make this an exciting read. The ending puts you on the edge of your seat and answers the questions about Aubrey and Killian. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
So not what I was expecting, but I liked it. Went in a completely different direction than most paranormal I have read. Killian and Aubrey are destined to be mated, but Killian is fighting it tooth and nail. I mean she is human and that is just not how it should be for him. Aubrey wants to hate him. She left this world only to get thrown back in with him by her side. These two get thrown obstacle after obstacle and so far have over come them all. Definitely kept me reading, that is what I enjoyed most. They are from different worlds, literally, and have forged together with their friends to fight something bigger. The way everyone was brought together stinks, but despite all the differences they work well together. Aubrey finds out that her father kept her in the dark about so much. She has no idea why these infected wolves, and vampires are looking for her. She is still trying to overcome the grief from losing her family and doesn't want to be responsible for more death. Some how, Killian must find a way to keep her safe and figure out why she is being hunted. Even with that task he doesn't understand why he was fated to have her as a mate. He was always told it was pretty much not allowed. Killian and Aubrey still have a way to go and I can't wait to see how they do.
5 Stars! With a magical intensity that rivals Lord of the Rings, I challenge you to read the beginning of what I believe will be an incredibly notable work. I loved this book very much, the story grabs you and holds you hostage from the first page and I am finding myself waiting very impatiently for the next installment. If you like action, adventure and a plot so well written that you forget its a book, this is the series for you! For fear of rambling on, and giving it all away I will stop while I am ahead, however, READ.IT. :)
