“I just want to consume him, and I hate myself… knowing that doesn’t make me any better than his art groupies.”
“I want to kiss him with every fiber of my being, but evidently he’s determined that I’m destined to be his savior, not his lover.”
“God, he’s beautiful, I marvel, allowing myself one last swoon before I steel myself for what’s to come.”
"Ava, you don't know how dark things are in my mind. What I am inside...what I can be like."
"So, fair Ava, how does one win the heart of a girl like you?"
"Some people expect love to be handed to them like a gift, love in a box...all tied up with a big red bow. But it rarely happens. Sometimes it's rough and gritty, and you have to fight your way to it."When Max and Ava were together, there was a spark that came from them. I could practically feel the sexual tension between them building with every new chapter. As the story continued I was treated to some deliciously hot scenes and there was even one that reminded me of the famous scene from the film "Ghost" (Only instead of a potters wheel it was some kind of art press!). It was scorching hot and it was my favourite scene in the entire book! LOL.
"Ava, I can't fight this anymore, I've got to have you."I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was was brilliantly written and I just loved the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. The story of Max and Ava kept me intrigued from the word go and I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next between the couple. This was the first series I have read that was set around the world of art and I found that it was a refreshing change. It was also my first introduction to this author and I became an instant fan. I am excited to read the next book in the series. Although this one did not end in a cliffhanger, I was left eager for more.
I loved how Ava was both conflicted in her feelings, but aware enough to assess them.
Doesn't every young woman at one point have a handsome teacher or boss she fantasizes about. And if they show her special attention, the allure can be hard to resist.
She is forced to look at her belief system when she experiences attentions on multiple fronts.
There's nothing more seductive than a man who makes it clear that he wants you. As much as the feminist in me hates to admit it, his admiration is confidence boosting.
Ava also reflects on how her behaviors might be based on trying to fill a void, rather than admitting her true feelings.
I know it's wrong...a wrong that may become another regret in the morning. But none of the wrongs are compelling enough to make me stop when I've felt so undesirable all day.
Work of Art is the first in a trilogy with each subsequent installments scheduled to release 8 weeks apart. I am very much looking forward to reading The Unveiling in January and The Masterpiece in March of next year.
