**Contemporary Adult Romance - Book 2 in The After Dark Series.**

Sparks Fly … Lines Blur… Hearts Break
Alexander Avery is rich, powerful and the sexiest man Angeline Hemming has ever laid eyes on: a man like every woman dreams about. Angel is not immune to his sensual and ruthless pursuit, and Alex is intoxicated by the beautiful doctor; overwhelmed with desire like he’s never known.

As one of Angel’s profiling cases gets more and more dangerous, Alex finds himself filled with unfamiliar panic and emotional turmoil; his need to protect her goes against Angel’s adamant insistence that she doesn’t need his help. He isn’t a man to sit on the sidelines when the woman he’s obsessed with is threatened, so he takes control to protect her without telling her of his plans.

Angel’s fortitude is shaken when her stalker invades not only her personal life but also those close to her… even when that someone is as powerful and seemingly untouchable as Alexander Avery. Professional ethics insist she keep the details or her work secret, even as their newfound closeness has her yearning to confide in him. But, as Angel’s quest to protect her heart from Alex’s
undeniable pull equals her need to keep him out of a dangerous situation, circumstances dictate a huge decision; which could have detrimental, and irreversible consequences for them both.

When danger threatens and jealousy reaches the boiling point, lies will be told and secrets kept… Even with the best intentions and the most undeniable connection … the deepest of loves will be tested.

Confessions After Dark is Kahlen Aymes follow up to Angel After Dark. I can’t even express how much I love Angel and Alex. Kahlen has woven such a wonderful story about a headstrong psychologist and a perfect Alpha Businessman.
Alex is all that you want in a male. Strong, possessive, sexy, sweet and an all-around Alpha to the max. Truly, I want one  Angel is a head strong, independent, strong career woman. It’s so wonderful not to have a whiny leading lady. Angel gives as good as she gets as far as Alex is concerned.
Alex and Angel’s story began as a friends with benefits relationship in book one, but as their story goes on the passion grows into a breathtaking love that every girl wants.
Angel is still fighting her feelings in Confessions after Dark. She is convinced that the playboy businessman Alex isn’t all in and won’t put her heart on the line to be destroyed. As the story unfolds, there is no choice…….. she knows she is falling in love with Alex and it scares her to death. In her profession she sees all kinds of woman with broken hearts and she’s convinced that Alex will wreck her. How wrong she is.
Alex is sex personified and has the love ‘em and leave ‘em reputation that precedes him but Angel is different. She is his equal. Not just a beautiful face.
As the story evolves, Angel is in danger from a client in a sexual preditor. (The scumbag abused a girl). It’s up to Angel to prove it for the courts. Problem is, the scumbag knows how to fool the system and Angel decides to put herself on the line to prove what he has done and get him convicted. She is convinced she can’t let Alex know and has to deal with this on her own. She pushes Alex away so he doesn’t get hurt because this scumbag will not only come after her, but everyone she loves. Problem is, Alex does know, and at the same time is doing everything to keep Angel safe. When Angel finds out he is keeping her safe behind her back, fireworks ensue. Can they put their relationship back together? Will Angel ever believe that Alex doesn’t just see her as a friend with benefits but the love of his life? The woman that is bringing the powerful Alex Avery to his knees?
There is a lot of cat and mouse in this book, and at times it drove me batty. (Angel’s mistrust, a scheming x girlfriend, etc). Angel just can’t get it through her skull that Alex is in this for real and tries to push him away at every given turn. Not only to protect herself but to protect him from the slime ball she is going after.
The After Dark series will conclude with Promises After Dark and I truly can’t wait! I’m literally on the edge of my seat to see how this all goes down. It’s about time that Alex and Angel get some happiness. It’s going to be nice to see a normal relationship between the two and if it will all work out. To see if the mistrust between the two (mainly on Angel’s side) will dissipate and if they will live happily ever after.
This really is a brilliant sequel, it has everything. Hot sex, intrigue, angst, just everything you want in a good book. I think Kahlen outdid herself with Confessions After Dark and truly can’t recommend this series enough.
The secondary characters (Alex’s sister and brother) are wonderful and I truly hope K decides to write their stories.
And girls, trust me….. Alex will get your gears grinding.

This book was incredibly frustrating and honestly I wanted to DNF it so many times. After finishing Book 1, I thought this series was going to be a refreshing change and had really high hopes that it was going to be amazing.

The downfall of book 2 was what happened to be why I thought book 1 was so amazing. In book 1, I thought wow, we finally have a heroine who is well educated, strong and had such a healthy respect for herself. She is a criminal profiler and a relationship talk show host on the side. We got to see her give advice to women and how to handle their relationships in book 1. Her guidance was smart and helped women to see they needed that same self respect she was displaying in herself. When Angel finally met Alex, a known playboy, I thought she handled him perfectly.

This leads us into book 2 and at the beginning of hers and Alex's relationship and danger that is lurking after Angel. The book just fell apart at the first sign of trouble. Angel pushed Alex away so fast I got whiplash from it. She turned from a smart, intelligent woman, to a someone I didn't recognize. All that wonderful advice she gave to her listeners went out the window. She even admits this to herself.

This whole book, these two are only together maybe 2 or 3 chapters. The rest was fighting. I don't even blame Alex. He was fighting for her, them as a couple and for her safety and all she did was push and treat him like he was the one in the wrong. It got to a point where I felt Alex deserved someone better.

I hate that I'm letting her actions dictate how much I didn't enjoy this book. Everything else about what I loved in Book 1 is stil here in book 2, except Angel. She set a cloud of doom over all of it with the way she handled everything. I did manage to make it to the end to see Angel and Alex finally get back together. This gives me high hopes that book 3 will be more like book 1.

~~ 5 "On the Edge of My Seat" Stars ~~

Talk about a book that has EVERYTHING!!!! This is the Second installment in the After Dark Series and let me tell you I couldn't put this book down. It was filled with love, intrigue, mystery, suspense, HOT sex, and of course heartbreak. I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat reading this book. Again, as was the same in book 1, the writing was flawless. Kahlen created a story that sucked you in and didn't let go until the very end. You can't turn the pages fast enough when it comes to this book. I can't say a whole lot about the storyline because it would give too many details away, but I can say that the questions that were left unanswered in book 1 are addressed and for the most part answered in this book. She did leave somethings up in the air, that I am assuming will be concluded in the third book.

In book 1 we got to see how Alex and Angel came together and their journey of getting to know each other, in this book we get to see what happens to them once they admit to their feelings. This was not an easy journey for Alex and Angel. Both of them have severe trust issues. Their relationship is tested quite a bit in this book. Their relationship will take your heart on a roller coaster ride. So many ups and downs!!!! I will say that Alex was still extremely YUMMY in this book….I think I fell for him more in this book. Angel on the other hand….she sort of annoyed me a bit in this book (not enough to take any enjoyment or stars away) but it felt like her character changed a little in this book. She was still the strong independent woman from book 1 but a little more on the whiney side. It kind of bothered me that she was always second guessing Alex's feelings and words towards her. He did nothing to make her mistrust him. I was a little annoyed that she kept holding their very first conversation against him and letting Whitney talk in the back of her head. Like I said….don't get the wrong idea….this didn't take away from my complete enjoyment of this story.

I was glad that we got to see more of Alex's family. We got to know Cole and Allison so much more in this book. I hope that continues into book 3 and I also hope we get to see more of Becca and Jillian in book 3.

Again I would recommend this book to everyone who has read book 1 ( Angel After Dark ) and is also a fan of Kahlen Aymes. Heck even if you aren't a fan or have never heard of her before….. READ THIS SERIES!!!!! This book does end on a To Be Continued ending again, but it is nothing to torturous that you need to wait for the third book to be released. The book ended at a great spot and you just know there is more to come :)

If you haven’t read Angel After Dark yet then you NEED to pick it up and read it before you continue with this book. You will not be disappointed you did.

Let me tell you folks that this book was absolutely brilliant. What a phenomenal sequel! It was everything I hoped it would be and had everything I love and so much more. Seriously this book had me on complete edge with the highs and lows. Kahlen needs to be congratulated on this fantastic, superb read. I am trying to come down from all the emotions running through me right now to figure out how to express how much I loved this story. So many highs and lows, my stomach was aching with the knots, I was flying high with the love and my god I was swooning with the passion and sex. OMG the whole series as a whole so far has been nothing short of amazing.

Kahlen has this uncanny ability to bring her characters to life where you see every emotion, every fear and every desire just oozing off every single page. There wasn’t a second where I wasn’t just completely engrossed in all things Alex and Angel. The writing is so beautifully done that every word came to life for me. I felt as though I was watching things play out in front of my eyes and I didn’t want it to end.

Ok so the story picks up from where the first one left off, Alex and Angel are together but the story isn’t all about rainbows and lollipops. Not even close. This book had a darker element to it than the first did. We get to see the extent of the danger Angel is in because of the case she’s working on. When things heat up she doesn’t want to involve Alex on what has been going on, and because she takes her professional ethics seriously she keeps things hidden from him. Lies, secrets, fears and danger loom over their relationship. Can these two come together and learn to trust themselves, their feelings and each other to make it work? That is something you’ll have to read for yourselves to find out. I can tell you this. Get ready for lots of angst because Confessions After Dark has it in spades.

If you read the first one you NEED to pick this one up. Alex is hotter than ever. I think I fell in love with him all over again. That man is just so irresistible and sexy as hell. I really loved how the characters still held true in this one as they were in the first. I loved how they each gave as good as they got. This is definitely a series that I highly recommend. You will fall hard, you will fast and you will be in love. I cannot wait for the last installment in this series. This is definitely one that will keep you wanting more. I am dying for more Alex.

Confessions After Dark is the second instalment in the ‘After Dark’ series and one that will put you through the emotional gamut. Angeline and Alex are both empowering and strong-willed characters, pragmatic, professional, each knowing their own mind while succumbing to their needs and desires. But nothing can ever prepare them for the depth of their feelings that come when feeding the addiction.

Love was never supposed to play a part in this equation, and when it does, it doesn’t just hold the power to rule hearts, but the mind. In this instance, love has the power to break, and all in the name of fear.

Their lust is tangible although heartfelt. Their concerns are very real, making for a potent and fulfilling read. What I love about Kahlen’s writing is her injection of realism. Although Alex Avery is an internationally successful multi-millionaire businessman, their story of how they met, come together (pun intended) and the challenges they face gave this story vivid plausibility. The threat from outside sources felt very real, and I was immediately enamoured in both instances with the lengths one will go to, to protect those they care about.

I won’t lie, certain notions made me want to smack Angel around the head, she can be so pig-headed and stubborn at times, but I can understand her elusiveness when it comes to relationships. Having been burnt before, and experiencing the heartbreak second hand from countless late-night callers, she believes no good can come from committed relationships, not when so many are destined to fail.

“Alex has been different since he met you, Angel. You’ve changed him.”
“He’s changed me, too. He makes me weak.”
Darian’s face split in a knowing smile.
“Needing someone doesn’t make you weak, doll. It makes you human.”

Alex Avery on the other hand is the hero in this series. Where Angeline is continually trying to stay at arms length, Alex is the one pushing forward. He may never have had a real relationship before, but he’s not afraid to try and I admired him greatly for his resilience and boldness when it came to proving his worth.

“Why did you have to come here tonight?”
“Because, I can’t stay away. I don’t know if I’d be strong enough to fight it even if I wanted to.”
“You’re the strongest man I know.”
“Not when it comes to you.”

Alas, Angel has her reasons for her incessant drive to distance herself and that is due to a case that is crumbling beneath her feet. Mark Swanson is an evil low-life businessman who deserves to rot in prison for abusing his Step-Daughter. The case she is working on is lacking in evidence even though Angel knows he’s guilty.

Taking a step back is not an option, and soon Angel becomes a target for revenge, as Swanson and his goons threaten not only her, but the one person who she has come to care for more than anything… Alex.

Alex secretly knows what Swanson is planning, and he needs to make it clear that no-one messes with what is rightfully his, Angel included as he sets a new plan in motion; Mark Swanson will suffer, Avery Corporation is going to bring him to his knees but there will be consequences… ones that will likely affect them both.

From lust, to love, to heartbreak, to fear, to loss and back again, Kahlen Aymes certainly knows how to spin a beautifully written tale. This series doesn’t just focus on explosive dynamics in the bedroom even though it plays a pivotal role, but demonstrates her ability to deliver one creative and thrilling storyline that will have you gripped until the very end.

This series is an absolute MUST READ!!!

Two words: HATED IT. With a burning, fiery passion. I don't think I've ever rolled my eyes so much at a book. Angel started off pretty low for me in the first book, but in this book she dug her own way to Hell and lost the map along the way. I hated her. So much. She was whiny, needy, pathetic, and downright unbearable. Nothing she did made sense, and for someone who counsels people about their problems, she sure didn't know how to deal with ones of her own. I honestly don't think I can express just how much I hated her. Seriously. The back and forth had me huffing in disgust and rolling my eyes to the point of wanting to put Angel out of her own misery. She had no substance, whatsoever. NONE. She's pretty, sure, we get it, she's supposedly 'smart' but is actually one of the DUMBEST heroins I've ever had the displeasure of reading about, ever. I've never been more irked by a fictional character than I am by her right now. UGH. I'm officially washing my hands of this series and NEVER LOOKING BACK SO HELP ME GOD. Main character ruined it for me, plain and simple. Pity, because I really loved Alex and I felt Angel in no way deserved him. Whatever.

Ms. Kahlen Aymes has done it again!!!!!!

Confessions After Dark is a book that will have you fanning yourself, biting your nails, screaming, loving, hating......Should I keep going?

As you continue to follow Alex and Angel's relationship, you will find yourself having all those emotions and many more.

This installemnt does not dissapoint you, and as their relationship goes thru ups and downs, their sex scenes get hotter and hotter!!!

Alex being Alex doesn't want to face the fact that his feelings for Angel had changed.

Angel being Angel is affraid to admit to herself she has fallen hard for Alex.

Will they finally admit to them selves how they feel for each other or will they drift apart?

If you haven't met Alex Avery or Angel Hemming go and read Angel After Dark available in Paperback and eBook on Amazon.com, iTunes, Goodreads.com

“Don’t break my heart…I love you, so much. You’ll destroy me.”

Gitte: I fell in love with both Alex and Angel in Angel after Dark for different reasons. Alex because he’s just an ideal book boyfriend isn’t he, Jenny. Gorgeous, sexy, passionate and protective. He was a bit of a Ladies man but then he heard and saw Angel and our man fell hard. He didn’t change much in this instalment; if anything his qualities were magnified and he went all out for Angel. I fell harder, which I didn’t think was possible. Alex is LUSH!

‘He was passion personified; the epitome of sex for sure, but he possessed an unexpected tenderness….’

As for Angel; well she did change and sadly not for the better. The main reason I didn’t love this one as much as book #1 was, in my opinion, because she became one of those heroines I just can’t enjoy or get on with. She became childish, whiney and weak and blamed Alex for something she selflessly instigated initially, in order to protect him. She also expected him to do things despite her telling him not to. She became the kind of woman I don’t like in real life, you know the ones who blame the man for not second guessing her and blaming men in general for not being psychic. This was so disappointing as I thought the continuing storyline was great with plenty of intrigue, drama and suspense. The passion was off the charts hot and I was really enjoying it as the story unfolded until Angel just took the wrong turn. She became everything she wasn’t in book #1.

“Agony and ecstasy all rolled up into one. You are everything to me.”

Again, it has to be said Kahlen Aymes is a fantastic writer and whilst I enjoyed this one I didn’t love it, I just couldn’t. I can’t wait for the final book now to find out how it all ties up in the end.

“I believe in the kind of love that leaves you breathless, aching, and feeling like you’re flying and dying all at the same time.”

I just hope Angel reverts into that fantastic level headed, gutsy and sassy chick she was in book #1 don’t you Jenny?

Jenny: Oh Alex is definitely the stuff book boyfriends are made of. You pretty much summed him up and let’s not forget he’s good with children…le sigh…..I really did fall hard for this guy in book one and if it’s at all possible, his fierce love and protective stance for Angel in this book only intensified my feelings for him. He is divine and boy, didn’t Angel bring him to his knees. She had him at sixes and sevens.

“I’ve worshiped you.”

I agree with you about Angel, Gitte! Angel was one of my favourite heroines in the first installment and I missed that woman in this one. She was sexy, witty upfront and pragmatic. She didn’t play games, she didn’t mess about and that’s what I loved that about her.

“I can’t stay away. I don’t know if I’d be strong enough to fight it even if I wanted to.” Alex
“You’re the strongest man I know.” Angel
“Not when it comes to you.” Alex

So it begs the question….what happened to that sassy no nonsense Angel in this one? Here was this wonderful guy who continually proved himself, laying his feeling bare and what does she do? Pushes him away because of ‘what ifs’? Yes, I can understand her being skittish because of Alex’s past and I understood her desir to protect him but instead of coming across stoic and unselfish, she ended up frustrating me. As you said, poor Alex needed a crash course in mind reading to keep up with her. But…when these two are good together they make for addictive reading.

“Do you dream of me often?” – Angel
“Every time I close my eyes.” – Alex

Like you I loved the drama, the wit, the suspense and the passion…wow! These certainly fire up the pages and the heat is there in abundance. I did enjoy Confessions After Dark but I didn’t love it as much as book one. In saying that, I’m dying to delve into Promises. I look forward to their banter, the intense passion and seeing how their relationship evolves because I’m definitely invested in these two!

If you haven't read this series, you have too. I loved Angel After Dark but Kahlen Amyes has out done herself. CAD is even better. This book has you with every page I couldn't put this book down. The chemistry between Angel and Alex is even better. It's sexy, hot, frustrating, loving, funny and the suspense and action is crazy! You really get to see the softer side of Alex and that he'll stop at nothing to protect his girl. You'll fall in love with him all over again. You get to see how they really feel for each other. There were many times I want to slap Angel and scream at her "just let him help you!" And Alex I wanted to strangle him a few times too. That Mark is a PIG, he's EVIL and he thinks he's unstoppable, but he has no idea what Alex is will do for Angel. My heart raced, it was just Fantastic!!!! I'd love to see this book in a movie. I just loved love loved it!!! I'm dying for book 3. Alex is my #1 BBF.

The second installment of Angel and Alex was filled with angst and drama -- and I loved every minute! Sometimes their interactions are a bit over-the-top but both are strong-willed, passionate people. I wish that the series had concluded with this book. I don't know what else there is to the story that couldn't have been finished here. We've still got the dastardly Swanson free on bail so he'll need to be dealt with before everyone gets their happily-ever-after. I hope Cole finds his own girl -- maybe Becca?

All in all, an enjoyable read. Looking forward to the third book, Promises In the Dark." Hopefully, the wait won't be too long!

3 or lemme add another .5 for ALEX and ALEX alone.

And so, the passion-filled-thrilling- story continues but it didn't work for me. I am still in lust err I mean in love with possessive-demanding ALEX AVERY tho, but what the heck happened to ANGEL? She became what I most certainly hate in a heroine- whiny, childish and weak. Ugh. She's not like that in the first book and I hate it.

Okay, so much for having higher expectations. It hurts. Tho I am still looking forward to the third and final installment. Hope Angel will redeem herself.

Kahlen has done it again with this amazing continuation of "Angel After Dark."
The first book is great and it got even better with this book! I love Alex and Angel, and I found myself relating and connecting to these characters.

The story continues with the alpha male, Alex, and Angel the smart criminal profiler with the problems with the character that starts in Angel After Dark.
Angel is still guarding her heart and she has another problem with a client that raped his stepdaughter and Angel is hell bent on putting him away. But this comes with danger. Alex puts a tail on her and security cameras everywhere she goes. She is in danger. And Alex does everything he can to protect her and help find this man. Angel is starting to open up heart a little more for Alex. But she still has issues.
Alex and Angel both continue with their ups and downs. He isn't used to letting a women have her way and its killing him. He wants to know more about this man but Angels privacy to patient still holds. Until something happens and she then lets Alex in for help.
I cant give anymore about this book without giving away some major spoilers.
And again Kahlen Aymes has written this with so much emotion. Mine were up and down in this book. More characters were added and you can picture each of them in each scene. My emotions were everywhere. Sad, happy, hot sex, alpha males, and lots of suspense.
This is another 5 star read. Your on the edge of your seat and the sex scenes are HOT!

Confessions After Dark (After Dark #2) by Kahlen Aymes
4.5 stars!!

“Needing someone doesn’t make you weak, doll. It makes you human.”

Kahlen Aymes is back! I thought that the first book in this series (Angel After Dark) was the foundation builder and that has now been proven correct. The story really kicks off in this book and it is full on from the start. An alpha male and an alpha female was always going to make interesting reading and this is veryyyy interesting.

Angel is one strong woman on the outside, but is she really that strong on the inside? As a criminal psychologist she deals with a lot of tough stuff on a day to day basis and none more so than the case she was working on at the moment. We know from the last book that the suspect in that case is a very unsavoury character and is pressurising Angel in more ways than one and that plot line continues throughout this book. But despite her powerful, professional façade Angel is rocked to the core internally and the threats that Swanson makes against her leads her to make some uncharacteristic decisions. Angel’s feelings towards Alex are still alien to her and she is still struggling to come to terms with them. With outside forces testing her resilience and her loyalties you know that this is not going to be a walk in the park.

“Love is blind, and when you’ve got someone in front of you that is larger than life, it’s hard to know what the truth is.”

Alex really comes into his own in this book, like Angel alien feelings swamp him at times but because of what he feels for Angel is so strong he cannot help but fight for what he wants and what he wants is Angel. Despite Angel’s constant attempts to push him away, Alex does not give in. I was really proud of him in this book, despite his inexperience with “proper relationships” he does go all out and Alex Avery never does anything in half measures. He is head strong at times and does what he feels he has to do to protect what is his, although his intentions are totally admirable, sometimes they are not seen that way, domineering and dominating comes to mind.

“You’re the strongest man I know.”
“Not when it comes to you.”

I must admit, at times I could have whacked Angel around the head a few times to try and drum some common sense into her but I could understand her reluctance at times to let herself “feel” and “trust”. Her radio show is still going strong and I suppose hearing about failed relationships constantly does not instil confidence in the opposite sex but Alex truly was nigh on perfect in this book.

Their chemistry in this book is seriously off the charts and Kahlen puts this into words perfectly. You feel their chemistry and you cannot help but root for them to finally see that they are perfect for each other. Everyone notices the differences that their relationship is having on them both but at times they are both blinkered and this could be infuriating.

There is another Avery that comes into play in this book and I cannot wait to see what his story is. If Kahlen doesn’t plan a story about him I think that she should. I am sure that there is an intriguing back story to be told and no doubt he could be having a colourful future.

I cannot wait for book three; I am eagerly awaiting the conclusion of Angel and Alex’s story. You know that you are going to be treated to a fab, hot, steamy read that Kahlen always pens so magically, but also know that with this story you are treated to an intense, captivating, thrilling storyline.

“You’re everything. Do you hear me? Never doubt me. I can’t imagine being without you now.”

This book started right where book one ended, and it immediately took off with tension and suspense that had me fidgeting the entire time. Whereas book 1 was centered on building up the characters and their attraction towards each other, this one was at a faster pace packed with intense emotions as well as a touch of suspense/thriller.

Angel was involved in a high profile case as a criminal profiler, and she was getting serious threats. When it was apparent that Alex would be in the line of fire, she was willing to do anything to keep him safe, even it that meant leaving him and his adorable dog Max.

What she didn't count on was Alex's determination to keep her in his life. She knew what he was before they met: emotionally unavailable and a casual-relationship-type of guy. But "before he met her" being the operative word. She didn't anticipate how invested and involved Alex would be in her life, or the lengths he was willing to go through to protect her. His caveman alter ego was back in full force! Alex Avery was seriously one of the sexiest book boyfriends I had ever read!

Alex was still reeling with the knowledge that he could feel so intensely about a woman and his thoughts consumed by her. But he didn't back down, didn't fear the unknown. He forged ahead despite being unprepared to how Angel filled his heart and at the same time rendered it wide open to pain. Alex was a man used to having the world at his fingertips who suddenly felt vulnerable and helpless because Angel evoked feelings in him that although unfamiliar, was very welcome. Second-guessing himself or his effect on a woman was foreign to him, until Angel came along. His predicament before her involved how to divest himself of a woman's attachment, but he spent a great deal of time thinking of ways to keep Angel.

Angel lost a little of her alpha character in this book. Her fears took over her spunk, but Alex's qualities were consistent and even magnified as he fought for Angel. Alex alone would make this book deserving of a five-star.

Their connection was so intense it will suck you in as a reader. Their attraction was raw, unprecedented, uncontrollable, bordering on obsession. These two can heat up the sheets to cause forest fire! In Angel's words:

“We can’t be in the same room without wanting to rip each other’s clothes off. It’s not healthy.”

Well, who needs to be healthy when you have Alex Avery, Mr. Passion Personified, warming your bed? Lol!

On to book 3 now for more of the addicting sexy hunk!

This is the continuing story of Angel and Alex. I was hoping once I had hard more on their pasts, that I would like this a bit more. That wasn’t the case for me. The past was addressed, but not well, or too much. I'm trying not to give any spoilers, but her past was pretty much that her boyfriend cheated on her. That’s it …. You get no true background on why he cheated. And for some, this is ok, some like the, no dwell on the past thing. Im more along the lines of …. Don’t dwell for chapters, but give me some background, or insight as to why things are the way they are. As far as Alex, there is no real reason he doesn’t want anything more than sex. I think there should be a reason, but as far as this story takes it, there is no reason other than he isn’t interested in love, doesn’t think he will ever love anyone and wants no strings sex but in a monogamous relationship…. I personally feel there must be a reason he feels this way … it cant just be “because” but its not really addressed and for me, I get no feel of the character in order to feel sorry, or hate or anything for that matter. Again, as with the first, I don’t hate it. Its not a bad book. For me its just rather boring. I really feel this could have been done in one book rather than dragged out into two with a third on the way. Unless book 3 is going to give me some past insight, and one hell of a storyline, its something I’ll most likely pass on reading.
I still find Angel to be a pain in the butt. She is a woman who doesn’t want to be bossed around and claims her independence but really what I see is a woman, with brains, looks and a decent job who all but whines through most of the story … .hey, if it gets her great sex, good for her. But in reality, if I were a man that would get old fast. During some parts of the book I actually felt sorry for Alex because he really did try and she complained at every turn, in between romps in the hay. On the whole, the writing itself was good and the grammar and spelling were good, though not as good as the first.
Im giving this 3 stars because I really feel it wasn’t even necessary to have a book 2 and I wish the Author success with this, as my opinion is that of one and doesn’t mean it will be the opinion of others.

REVIEW:

4.5 Groupie Stars

I love this series! You not only get a great love story but you get some action and suspense thrown in too. I could not put this book down. There are so many twists and turns and you never know what is going to happen next. Just when you think things are going to calm down for Alex and Angel BAM another issue.

This is the second part to Alex and Angel's story and they run into even more obstacles in their relationship in this book. Miscommunication and trust issues play major parts in this book. I love that Angel is such a strong and educated female but she gets in her own way ALOT! There were so many times I wanted to just shake Angel and tell her to let go and give in to Alex and what she is truly feeling. Alex grows a lot in this book and shows that he is capable of love. He is also very protective and needs to be in control of the things he cares about and that cause problems especially when it's concerning a very independent woman like Angel. Exes also play a party in this book, I didn't think I could dislike Whitney any more!! We also get more of Swanson and his retaliation. Will he finally get what he deserves or will he still keep trying for revenge?

I love both Alex and Angels characters and fell for them even more in this book. I want and need for them to find their HEA. The biggest surprise in this book was COLE, I'm in love!!! I hope he gets his own book and love interest (Becca: hint, hint). I can't wait to see where the story is going to go in the next installment in the series. What I do know is I will be reading it as soon as it come out. I need more now, Im addicted to this series. I highly recommend it.

Alex Avery might be one of the sexiest book boyfriends around! Smart, hard-working, wealthy, possessive, yep, he is HOT. And the fact that he is honest and very protective of Angel only adds to his appeal!

In this second installment of the After Dark, we find Angel in danger arising from one of the sexual assault cases she is investigating. There is a thriller aspect to this book which adds something extra to the usual contemporary romance genre. There is plenty of steamy sexy times between Alex and Angel but I was a little frustrated at times by Angel’s almost-constant fear of being in a relationship and her often-impulsive attempts to push Alex away. This created lots of drama for me and I honestly thought the author would leave us with a cliffhanger but this story has a very satisfying conclusion.

There are lots of twists and turns in this story and LOTS of HOT scenes between Alex and Angel, and actually some incredibly tender moments, too. I absolutely loved the radio talk-show scenes and would love to read more about that side of Angel in the future. There did not seem to be as much emphasis on the radio show in this book and I love those call-in therapy sessions with Dr. Hemming. There was no cliffhanger here but there is definitely room for more stories about Alex and Angel and I can’t wait to see where Ms. Aymes takes this hot couple!

CONFESSIONS AFTER DARK by Kahlen Aymes
This is part two of a three part series, continued from Angel After Dark. We pick up with Alexander "Alex" Avery and Dr. Angeline "Angel" Hemming. Their relationship is still as erotic and as emotional as before. Both want control, since both have Alpha personalities. The chemistry between these two is a beautiful explosion, from their tête-à-têtes to their passionate lovemaking. With two Type A personalities and their lack of complete honesty and trust of confiding in each other keeps this story moving, but at the same time, you as the reader, want to smack both of them because of it.

We are still dealing with the sleaze ball, Mark Swanson, who had raped his stepdaughter and with Angel wanting to have him convicted so badly it is driving her crazy. Then in turn, him wanting to destroy Angel because of his narcissistic personality, her life is placed in jeopardy. We get to know more about Alex's siblings, Cole and Allison, who play major roles in this story. I look forward to part three, Promises After Dark. I have truly enjoyed the story and the emotional roller coaster ride between Angel and Alex and know that the ride hasn't ended yet, and I can't wait to see where Promises will take us.

All I can say is this series is a MUST READ! I highly recommend it. *I received this copy as a gift from the author for an honest review*

Angel and Alex.... wow.. just wow!!

This is the continuing story of a very strong willed powerful businessman, and an even stronger willed Criminal Profilers.

Angeline being the not the damsel in distress, of course comes smack dab in the middle of a crazed rapists view.... she of course is trying to nail him to prison.. which in turn pisses him off to focus his rage onto her... meanwhile.. we have Alex.. sexy hot Alex who has fallen head over heels for Angel. He is doing his best to not only win her heart, soul and mind... but is also trying to make sure she is safe.. NOT AN EASY TASK!!

Angel is a very educated and no nonsense woman... who seems to be fighting Alex every step of the way in every aspect.. her safety... their love... just everything...

Does this psycho rapist make a play to hurt Angel?? is Alex able to protect her?? Does Angel finally give in to the love she can't really deny for Alex?? does Alex get his HEA??

beautiful story that you should start reading NOW!!!

I'm so hooked onto this series! This story is definitely a roller coaster though! Ups and downs for sure. Angel keeps fighting her feelings because she doesn't want to get hurt. But alex won't let her get away. One of angels cases also gets out of hand. The guys starts to threaten angel and alex. Angel stops seeing alex for awhile to protect him. But the lack of communication doesn't help them either. They keep too much secrets from each other when they could of benefited with each other's information. Well finally they put mark Swanson in jail but then he gets out on bail. Angel and alex have a big fall out because angel finds that alex had a file on her. Then they get jealous. Alex with Whitney and angel with her ex kyle. In the end they have a huge talk and tell each other they love each other. It's all out there now.
