Right off the bat, I loved this book! The characters were endearing and the dialogue was hilarious. Up until about 75% of the way in, I was sure it would be a 4 or 5 star read for me.
The heroine, Angel, is a psychologist and doles out advice on a nighttime radio talk show. When she gives Alex's girlfriend some advice that ultimately leads to their break-up, he decides to set the record straight with the radio show host. He didn't care much about the lost relationship, but he didn't like the idea of this stranger thinking she knew him well enough to hand out advice.
Much like another famous romance hero, Alex handles his relationships like business transactions. Women are naturally drawn to Alex's good looks and charm, but he doesn't promise any type of romance. He is upfront about what he is willing to offer: money and monogamy, but nothing deeper. Sex, but not love.
When Angel calls Alex out on his selfish, short-sighted views, sparks fly between these two. The sexual tension was off the charts! For once, Alex had the tables turned on him and he could not resist the urge to possess this feisty woman.
I loved the fact that the author took a while to build anticipation before Alex and Angel finally got together. Once they did, it was a whirlwind romance, but I enjoyed the wait. From that point on, they were inseparable, with each trying to maintain emotional distance but failing miserably.
The sex scenes were steamy and I greatly enjoyed watching the relationship between these two grow. I liked them as a couple and wanted to see more. With the danger from Angel's job looming in the background, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Then, the book just ended abruptly, without forewarning and without any logical break in the story. I knew this book was the first in a series, so I expected to be left hanging with some unresolved issues. However, even with the worst of cliffhangers, there is some sort of natural "break" in the story.
This time, I was just reading along and the next thing I know, it's over. There was no big event or revelation. No plot twist or cliffhanger. Nothing! I was left wondering if my copy was missing a few chapters.
Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable read. I will probably continue the series at some point. If the ending hadn't been so abrupt, it would have been a 4 star read for me.

Angel After Dark is one of my favorite new romances!
Alex and Angel.... ohhh what can I say! A chance meeting in a home improvement store starts the story of the uber alpha billionaire and the smart, no nonsense doctor.
Alex is happy with just sex, he is all about the release with no commitment, where Angel has a friend with benifits when she needs her itch scratched until these two meet each other.
They never get to follow through on that home depot meeting......and they stay in each others head for a while. Then surprising circumstances bring them together.
This book is a lot about the chase.... and it is worth every single funny, smart, witty, edgy second. These two have a chemistry I don't encounter often in books. WOW.
There is a great back story for both Angel and Alex. The development of the relationship is done with such care and devotion. You will root for these two. The supporting cast is also important.
Alex is everything I love in an alpha male. Angel is a wonderful lead. Strong, funny, smart.... no whining! LOVE IT! She is a professional female. A very impressive one. And when they finally get together......... It's on!
If you are looking for a hot romance, look no further. Angel and Alex will get your gears grinding. Book 2 can't get here soon enough!!! Seriously...the good stuff is going to start going down... ;) Get this on your kindle! You won't be sorry!!

OMG...this book is soooooooooo real....so amazing...I can't wait for ALL if you to read this...
OMG... I am soooooo super excited that you all can delve into Angel After Dark!!!
I have to tell you that Kahlen Aymes is one of my fave fave authors!! If you haven't read her Remembrance Series and lived the love story of Mathew and Julia.. then you are missing out on three of my absolute favorite books!!! Kahlen is a wonderful writer that just has this amazing intelligent flow in her stories... they just capture you in a way that few other authors can....
Now onto Angel and Alex... let me tell you.. there are powerfully HOT!!!
what i love about this story is that Angel is not the shy little virgen that gets rolled over by that dominant Alpha... nooooo... she is a very strong and intelligent character that holds her own, and finally we see a dominant alpha brought to his knees to actually woo and love and fall in love. Alex is that no strings attached type of guy who meets a girl who can match him toe to toe.. and they fall hard and fast for each other, by fighting that love at the same time... Its beautiful and sexy... ohhhh so very sexy!!

Angel After Dark is a riveting, passionate and honest account of how two intelligent, professional and emotionally detached individuals find solace in another. It’s a story of relinquishing control and inviting someone in, even though the concept is alien and utterly terrifying.
In the past sex has always been about release. Scratch the itch, smile, say thank you and move on. Although both monogamous with their sexual partners, neither has ever truly believed in ‘happily ever after,’ so it makes for such a fun and compelling read when our two main protagonists both fall victim to the insatiable need and learn what it is to connect for the very first time.
The consensus of this story is that emotions are dangerous. They seek to destroy. With a head for business and a need to help others after an incident in college, Angel is more than capable of looking after herself. She’s feisty, sassy with a dry wit and a no-nonsense attitude that make grown men weep. Not only is she smart and financially sound, she is beautiful - a real woman of the 21st century.
Alex Avery is the son of the founder of Avery Enterprises. He has the weight of the conglomerate world on his shoulders every single day; when he isn’t dealing with acquisitions worth millions of dollars, he is known to be out with his friends or paying late night visits to his ‘on-call’ girlfriend, Whitney.
Whitney loves the designer clothes, expensive apartment and the hot CEO on her arm, but she wants more. When Dr Angeline Hemming accepts a request to host an evening radio chat show, she gives Whitney some solid advice: ‘Take your power back or move on...’
Darian is Angel’s boss and immediately recognises the voice on the other end of the line. He’s not surprised at his best-friend’s reaction when he tells Alex about Whitney’s phone call on late night radio. Alex is even more enraged with the one-sided advice and he makes no hesitation in letting this Dr. Hemming know exactly what he thinks.
Angel is surprised at this man’s arrogance and immediately goes on the defensive when he tells her straight that his ‘girlfriend’ knew of the arrangement and not once did he ever promise her more. Angel can identify with that, but it doesn’t mean she has to like his attitude as she gives back as good as she gets, live on air!
Alex is floored! This is a woman who knows her own mind, her intellect is refreshing and if she looks anything like she sounds, then she could prove a worthy conquest. Darian won't shut up about her either, so with his interest peaked, he knows that a rendezvous will soon become inevitable.
When Darian sets up a blind meeting at a karaoke bar, fireworks explode, and not in a good way. You see... Alex and Angel have met before, very briefly at Home Depot and often wondered about the other. They are both undoubtedly attracted to each-other, but now it has become a battle of wills. Angel will not give in, while Alex on the other hand...will not give up!
Relenting control is an issue they both have, it is just a case of who breaks first.

Hello Alex Avery, he has just entered the ‘hot alpha billionaire hall of fame.’ Oh yes.. if you love your controlling types suited and booted then you have come to the right place! The transition of his characterisation from the early chapters until the end was such an indulgence that I couldn’t help but fall in love with him. He did give off an air of arrogance but it wasn’t overdone, because deep down you knew a very good man with a kind heart lingered. The relationship with his parents and loyalty to his ‘black-sheep’ Brother spoke volumes. Take away the CEO persona and suit, and deep down he is just a man scared of commitment. That spoke to me as a reader, I could identify with his logic and the way he chose to live his life.
Dr Angeline ‘Angel’ Hemming is a breath of fresh air. She is one heroine who knows her own mind and doesn’t take any prisoners, yet she didn’t come across arrogant but remained honest, her integrity continuing to shine throughout it all. She is the kind of woman you would want in your corner. Although her view of men was somewhat jaded at times, you learn why later, and it all makes sense.
The flow, the banter, the dialogue, the connection between the characters in and out of the bedroom made for one profound and honest read; incorporate some laugh out loud comedy moments succeeded in creating the perfect blend of storytelling genius. Yes, as expected with Kahlen, the bedroom scenes are scorching hot but most importantly, they are heartfelt, tummy-tingling and realistic, as both characters connect on an intellectual level as well as an intimate one.
I can’t thank Kahlen Aymes enough for providing me with an ARC. If you enjoyed her Remembrance Trilogy, then you will love this!

I absolutely loved Zachary Webber. Great voice and made it very easy to listen to him as Alex. Jessie Briar was very good as well. Both did a great job bringing this story to life.

Angel After Dark is an intriguing beginning to a 3 book series. I like that Angel is a smart woman with a good head on her shoulders. I also like that even though Alex treats his past relationships more like business deals, he's respectful and monogamous to his relationships. There is an exciting cat and mouse chase between Angel and Alex as they get to know each other. Meanwhile danger is lurking due to Angels recent profiling case. This book definitely leaves you interested in finding out what happens next in the series. ARC provided by NetGalley.

3 disappointing slow stars....
After being on a book high from the start of the year, I thought this book was going to follow however I was sadly mistaken.
It was slow and boring and somehow did not impress me at all. Infact I fell asleep a few times whilst reading.
The story is about a girl Angel, she's a psychologist who helps people. A strong headed woman. Now she has a radio show called Angel after dark.
When people call to call in on advice etc she gets a call from a girl complaining of her emotionally unavailable boyfriend Alex.
Alex... Well his drop dead gorgeous obviously and rich and the CFO of his fathers company. Sex is sex for him. He has arrangements but not relationships with woman.
When Alex learns his so called girlfriends called a show complaining about him, he decided his had enough. His over it...
So he ends it.
Now Alex best friend is Angels boss at the station and he sets them up to meet.
Alex is blown away that Angel is beautiful and intelligent. Not used to the airheads he normally dates.
Suddenly the guy who never chases woman is chasing a woman.
The woman who never feels for guys realizes she's affected by him....
As much as they both try to hide it they want 'more' but are afraid to admit it.
Angel might be in trouble with one of her cases and Alex finds himself crazy with worry....
I'm thinking I've read this somewhere?
Anyway the sex is okay, didn't wet my panties for it, maybe because I fell asleep?
Not sure... Anyway the book is inconclusive so I'll have to read book two to see what happens. Stay tuned....

**JEN'S REVIEW**
**5 Wonderful, Amazing, Sexy Stars*
OMG, let me just say holy crap and are you serious? Kaheln Aymes you did not just do that to me! This book is hot and sexy and I am begging for more. The character development and back stories of these two main characters had me so completely consumed. I was completely intrigued throughout the story and there is an element of danger that had me wondering what was going to happen next. This book had me laughing so hard at times my husband kept looking at me asking what is so funny. The the secondary characters are extremely interesting and they all played an important role in the story. Kahlen really did a fantastic job on how she had all the characters interacting with each other.. There wasn’t a moment where I felt like it was over done or not needed. The dialogue between them was truly spot on.
“Whoever said women were fucked up and ruled by their emotions never considered it was better than being led around by a swollen appendage. “
“She didn’t swoon over men; she kept to herself under carefully guarded control, and she wasn’t about to start now”
Angeline Hemming is such a strong person. She doesn’t take anyone’s crap no matter who they are. She’s seriously one tough cookie and I couldn’t help but really come to respect her. She knows her limits and doesn’t play games with her heart where men are concerned. She tells you how it is and isn’t afraid to be honest with anyone even if it’s not what you want to hear. She’s been through some really hard times and because of those experiences they have helped her become the woman she is today. I seriously wanted to jump into my kindle and friend her. Even though she’s tough as nails she does have a playful side to her. I really found her to be so refreshing. When it comes to men, she has to be in control and she doesn’t give anymore to them then what she wants. She’s happy with having a sex buddy with no strings because there is no way she’ll ever give her heart to anyone.
“Did you ever meet someone and something indefinable happened? I mean, you felt an instant shock run over your skin at just a look from this person or the slightest touch from his hand? You couldn’t control it. Immediately, all your girly parts stood at attention,”
Yep, and his name is Alexander Avery. He is one hot sexy savvy business man. This man had me swooning on every single delicious page. He seriously rocked my world and left me breathless. He doesn’t believe in love. He’s not a playboy because he doesn’t sleep around but he doesn’t emotionally get involved in his relationships. He doesn’t chase woman and he certainly doesn’t go out of his way to make them feel like there is anything more than just sex between them. The day Angel comes into his life in a very unexpected way has him fighting with his desires for her and need to keep control.
When their paths cross their connection explodes. The sex is extremely hot. Like OMG someone bring me a fan! The power trips they pull on one another had me laughing and almost wanting to place bets on who would concede first. They are both very guarded and neither one of them are willing to let the other take control. I really loved the banter between them. They really were so funny even when they were ticked off with each other.
“I have faith that she’ll kick your ass from one end of Chicago to the other, which is why I’ve baited you this way.”
I really loved this book, it’s different, it’s consuming and it will definitely have you wanting more. The writing is brilliant and the characters feel real. I really loved how both the hero and heroine were strong individuals. There is nothing weak about either one of them. You will laugh and you will definitely fall in love with this story, these characters and the writing. Kahlen really nailed this story. A definite must read.

Angeline Hemming is such a strong person. She doesn’t take anyone’s crap no matter who they are. She’s seriously one tough cookie and I couldn’t help but really come to respect her. She knows her limits and doesn’t play games with her heart where men are concerned. She tells you how it is and isn’t afraid to be honest with anyone even if it’s not what you want to hear. She’s been through some really hard times and because of those experiences they have helped her become the woman she is today. I seriously wanted to jump into my kindle and friend her. Even though she’s tough as nails she does have a playful side to her. I really found her to be so refreshing. When it comes to men, she has to be in control and she doesn’t give anymore to them then what she wants. She’s happy with having a sex buddy with no strings because there is no way she’ll ever give her heart to anyone.
“Did you ever meet someone and something indefinable happened? I mean, you felt an instant shock run over your skin at just a look from this person or the slightest touch from his hand? You couldn’t control it. Immediately, all your girly parts stood at attention,”
Yep, and his name is Alexander Avery. He is one hot sexy savvy business man. This man had me swooning on every single delicious page. He seriously rocked my world and left me breathless. He doesn’t believe in love. He’s not a playboy because he doesn’t sleep around but he doesn’t emotionally get involved in his relationships. He doesn’t chase woman and he certainly doesn’t go out of his way to make them feel like there is anything more than just sex between them. The day Angel comes into his life in a very unexpected way has him fighting with his desires for her and need to keep control.
When their paths cross their connection explodes. The sex is extremely hot. Like OMG someone bring me a fan! The power trips they pull on one another had me laughing and almost wanting to place bets on who would concede first. They are both very guarded and neither one of them are willing to let the other take control. I really loved the banter between them. They really were so funny even when they were ticked off with each other.
“I have faith that she’ll kick your ass from one end of Chicago to the other, which is why I’ve baited you this way.”
I really loved this book, it’s different, it’s consuming and it will definitely have you wanting more. The writing is brilliant and the characters feel real. I really loved how both the hero and heroine were strong individuals. There is nothing weak about either one of them. You will laugh and you will definitely fall in love with this story, these characters and the writing. Kahlen really nailed this story. A definite must read.

Kahlen Aymes is the author the best-selling the Remembrance Trilogy – one of my favorite series. Those books have appeared many times on my five faves in a number of different categories, including favorite couples, favorite epilogues and favorite overall series. So, when I heard Ms. Aymes was releasing a new series, I was ecstatic at the opportunity to read it. Well, I think I have a new “favorite couple’ to add to my list, and I know someone’s getting bumped down on my book boyfriend list to make room for Alex Avery!

I am an absolute lover of sweet fairy tale like romances and absolutely loved Kahlen’s Remembrance trilogy but was very excited to get an ARC of Angel after Dark, a darker and much hotter read. Right from the start this book pulled me in, I fell in love with the story and the main characters, Alex and Angel.
Dr. Angeline “Angel” Hemming is a sassy yet sophisticated criminal profiler who also hosts a radio show on Friday nights giving relationship advice. From their very first moment I loved Angel’s character, she was a no holds barred kind of gal, she knows what she wants and she is not afraid to say it.
” Put up your dukes Alex. This shit is on” She tried to make her voice hard but he caught the amusement behind it. “This is one fight I’m looking forward to Angeline. More than you know.”
Alex, OMG what can I say except he’s HOT HOT HOT and absofreakinglutely amazing. Through the whole book I could hear his velvety voice and when he would whisper in her ear I could feel him whispering in mine and man the swooning and goosebumps were happening. Alex is a successful CEO of his family’s company, he’s the one that put his own plans on hold and stepped up when his family needed him to and has never looked back. He’s focused on growing the family business and doesn’t have time for romantic distractions. Alex never wanted to spend time with the women he dated outside of the bedroom, that was until he met Angel.
”If you want to kiss me then do it. Do it.”
”No. The Next time my mouth is on yours, it’s going to end in an orgasm or two. Otherwise, I can’t go there.”
For that very initial moment their paths crossed, there was something there between these two, something they just couldn’t deny. And when they finally give, WOW, these two really set off fireworks. They are hot and sexy and the desire they have for each other is just amazing. They chemistry and the dynamic between these two just pulled me in. Alex and Angel are two very strong characters that fight for control, control over the other but also control over their emotions, but will they be able to keep control of them and keep it a “just sex” relationship.
This book is the first in the series and I absolutely loved it, when it was hot, it was freaking HOT. But it was also funny, with their sassy banter back and forth along with a little bit of danger thrown in. So roll that up together and what do you get, a really great 5 star read that I could not put down from the moment I started reading till the moment I hit the end. But now I cannot wait for Confessions After Dark to get the next chapters in their amazing story, I need it now, I need more Alex. Kahlen Aymes has written a really sweet romantic love story and I fell in love with Ryan, but after reading this one, I think I am head over heels in love with Alex.

3.5--Slow--Stars!!
Well yet another meh read! And the book funk continues.
I actually started out really liking this one. But then it seemed to just drag on and on. There was no insta love here. No immediately jumping in the sack. There was a ssssllllloooooowwww build to the "relationship". If you can even call it that.
The story begins with the heroine, Angeline (Angel), bumping in to the hero, Alex, at Home Depot. They don't talk or exchange names but there's a definite attraction. Months go by and they both still think about each other.
Fast forward six months. Angeline is doing a late night radio show giving relationship advice when a girl named Whitney calls in complaining about her boyfriend Alex.
Guess who Alex is.....no really...guess. Yup, you guessed it. Mr Home Depot. Alex ends up calling in to the show to give his side of the story. Alex all but admits he doesn't do love or relationships. He doesn't get emotionally involved. Yada, yada, yada.
Angeline is strong and independent. She's almost the female version of Alex. She doesn't do relationships either but keeps her sexual relationships short so that emotions and feelings don't develop.
Eventually Alex and Angel meet and so begins the back and forth, push and pull for the rest of the book. Now, I'm all for some sexual tension and build up but this was almost too much. Alex right away was willing to admit that what he felt for Angeline was different than what he had experienced with women in the past.
But Angeline, dear lord Angeline fought it and fought it and fought it. Because this is a --series/trilogy/IDK what--this was really more of a set the stage type of book. I mean not a lot happened. Alex trying to convince Angel to give them a chance. Angel keeping Alex at arms length.
Towards the end, I thought some of the dialogue turned a bit on the cheesy side. There is an underlying suspense involving Angeline and her job as a criminal profiler. So perhaps the next book will have more plot.
It wasn't terrible, it was just a bit on the slow side. The next book will be out in the Spring so this was a HFN ending.

I had the pleasure of getting an advanced copy of Angel After Dark. I won't say too much as I don't want to spoil the book for anyone. I thought the book was outstanding. Straight off the bat there was danger, hostility and poor hotness. Definitely add it to your shelf to read when it is released in January. It is book one of three.

I was so into this book. The suspense was great
Dr. Angeline Hemming aka Angel started out as a very typical no nonsense type of girl. Well that changes. She has a best friend Becca who has a daughter Killian aka Jillybug who is perfect. For Becca, I will say she is a source of comic relief. She was pretty direct in most of her dialogue and that is why they were close friends.
Angel being a Doctor with a pscych background, makes her have an edge. Now she has this gig at a radio station which is where Alex comes into play. There is a call from Whitney, who is Alex Avery's kept woman. This sparks his curiosity even more. He is also best friends with Darian who is her boss at the radio station.
Angel and Alex together have everything it takes for a hot and steamy affair. Angels job as a profiler cause some events that make Alex jump into action. He has connections and when things get personal in her current assignment, Angel needs help. I loved the suspense thrown in. I liked how the past for Becca as well as Angel is brought up. Alex gets some of her past out in the open and the reveal is an OMG moment.
The characters were all rich with room to grow. So this leaves me thinking that it will be at least a 3-4 book series. There is a lot of steam here as well as suspense. I loved it! Throw in a little mistrust, betrayal and danger, and it’s ON!

Kahlen Aymes strikes again! You all know by now I’m a huge fan of hers, and I absolutely love The Remembrance Trilogy, which tells Ryan and Julia’s love story. Now I have another fictional couple to add to my list of favorites! Yes, because Alex and Angel will sweep you off your feet with their chemistry. Angel After Dark was one of my most anticipated books of 2014, and it was everything I hoped it’d be.

I received an ARC copy of this book and let me just say, if you haven't added it to your TBR list yet you need too! I could not put this book down I absolutely love the storyline as well as both Alex and Angel. I can not wait until the second book it released. This is a MUST read! Add it now!

This book is amazing! Kahlen has really out done herself with this one.
Angeline Hemming, also known as Angel, is a high powered Criminal profiler in Chicago. And she hosts a late night radio where she gives advice about relationships. She is a no nonsense type of girl. Get gets to the point and doesn't take flack from anyone.
Alexander Avery, also known as Alex, is a Corporate Executive at Avery Enterprises. He is very guarded when it comes to his life. He is a Alpha male who likes what he likes and makes no excuses for it. He goes after what he wants, and he always gets it.
They first see one another at a home improvement store but that's it. They never spoke to one another but their thoughts would come back to the beautiful woman he'd seen. Or the gorgeous man with those green eyes.
Angel gets a call one night from someone named, Whitney who goes on to tell her that her mega rich boyfriend makes her feel invisible. Angel gives her advice and that was that, so she thought. Alex finds out that his ex girlfriend called the show and calls in himself to set the record straight and Angle can't get over his voice. It was all she could think about.
When they finally meet, it was unexpected and when she see him she can't believe he is the guy from the store, what is the odds of that happening? Then when he speaks she finds out he's Whitney's, (the caller) ex boyfriend. The jerk who just uses women until he gets tired and moves on. But Alex, is intrigued by this beautiful, smart, intelligent woman and he wants to know more. She wants nothing to do with him. Or so she acts like it.
Sparks fly between the two. The story has is moments where you just laugh and find your self smiling at their banter between them.
You also meet Darian who the best friend of Alex and the "boss" of Angeline. And Angel's best friend, Becca, who is hilarious. Becca's daughter Jillian, AKA jellybean.
This story ends with me saying WTF!
And now I'm dying to read Confessions After Dark to find out what happens next.

Wowzers...Ummm, I am all for a Alpha Male which is clearly played by Alexander Avery in this book. But holy cow the book is all the more fantastic when there is an Alpha Female too! Angel, is definitely and independent woman who knows what she wants and will take no crap from men and has no problem telling them so! Angel and Alex go toe to toe and try to outdo the other. They do it well too...in and out of the bedroom ;) Angel is independent but reserved, Alex is independent but takes what he wants. Total opposites, but they so attract!
Angel has dealt with demons in her past that keep her from wanting to settle with a guy. Alex has lived a life of not getting too attached to a woman. When the two finally grow on each other, sparks fly. In the steamy scenes, I felt like I was right there. Creepy I know, but it was so well descripted that I felt the emotions they felt!
I'm scared of what can possibly happen to Angel with her job. There is so much uncertainty in a social work position...things can go bad at any time! I hope that there is more of Angel and Alex and where they finally decide to take things. Let's just say, I am impatiently waiting for "Confessions After Dark". Fantastic read!!!

I love a good romantic fairy tale and Angel after dark delivers. They met at a home depot and never knew each other’s name – finding each other hit the fairytale mark I love. It hit every emotion in me that I need hit to love a book. It was a slow burn and I think in having a slow start the characters seeped into my psyche a little more and stayed with me long after I was done with the book. There was no insta-love which I hate – they didn’t even meet until ¼ of the way through the book – then things got good!!!! This has a HFN (HAPPY FOR NOW) ending and I can’t wait to see what Kahlen comes up with for the next installment. Read this book! Also check out Kahlens Remembrance Trilogy – as they are awesome as well.

This book should be added to your "to read" shelf now and pre-ordered on Dec 18th. It is due to be released in January. This book was like a breath of fresh air. The realism of Alex and Angel's relationship is refreshing. I loved the slow pace of events. I didn't feel like things were going to fast, making the storyline unbelievable. The secondary characters played an important part as well. I fell in love with them to. This book has sex, frustration, danger, twists and turns that you do not expect. Looking forward to the next in the series. I truly did not want this to end.

Cocksure Alex Avery thinks he knows it all. Women are his to take and use as he wants. A relationship on equal terms is so not on his agenda. But then along comes an angel who will rock his world. Dr Angeline Hemming will never be second best to a man. She knows what she wants & what she is prepared to give. She will NOT be some weak woman who gives in to an alpha male. Want, desire, lust for Alex and Angel and, dare I say it, love will take them both to where they never expected to be. I loved this book. So much is left wanting that I don't think I will sleep forever..

Wowsers!! This book was hot and I bloody loved it... a fantastic story that had me hooked from start to finish. It even made me late for work because I couldn't put my kindle down!!
"Angel in the Dark" followed the story of Alex and Angel who met in a hardware store. There was instant attraction on both sides but neither did anything about it until fate intervened and threw them together again. This time around there was no denying the chemistry between them.
I found the characters in the story really likable. Alex just oozed sex appeal. He was rich, confident, extremely attractive, and a total player... a typical ladies man who avoided any kind of commitment. Well ,that is until Angel came along.
Angel was a strong, independent woman. She refused to let any man get close enough to break her heart and that included Alex. I could totally understand her reluctance to get involved with him.
Alex was well and truly smitten with Angel and was eager to get to know her better but she fought a constant battle when it came to her true feelings for him. Lucky Angel because this man refused to give up on her ... wanting her more than he'd ever wanted any woman before.
Angel and Alex were electric together, they were so hot that I could feel the heat coming from my kindle!
I loved this couple together. They had so much passion going on between them. Things were never boring when it came to Alex and Angel but it wasn't just about the sex. The banter between them made me chuckle, both giving as good as they got. This couple really did click!
I really did enjoy this story, it was brilliant. I loved that it was a man chasing a woman instead of the other way round and I just loved how Alex changed for Angel becoming every woman's ideal man.
Angel was one lucky lady!
Because I enjoyed this story so much, I quickly devoured it and I was gutted when I turned over the last page. . Although the book does not end with a nasty cliff-hanger it still left me wanting more. Alex and Angel's journey is far from over and I can't wait to see what's going to happen next. Spring cannot come quick enough.

Alex was well and truly smitten with Angel and was eager to get to know her better but she fought a constant battle when it came to her true feelings for him. Lucky Angel because this man refused to give up on her ... wanting her more than he'd ever wanted any woman before.

Angel and Alex were electric together, they were so hot that I could feel the heat coming from my kindle!

I loved this couple together. They had so much passion going on between them. Things were never boring when it came to Alex and Angel but it wasn't just about the sex. The banter between them made me chuckle, both giving as good as they got. This couple really did click!
I really did enjoy this story, it was brilliant. I loved that it was a man chasing a woman instead of the other way round and I just loved how Alex changed for Angel becoming every woman's ideal man.
Angel was one lucky lady!
Because I enjoyed this story so much, I quickly devoured it and I was gutted when I turned over the last page. . Although the book does not end with a nasty cliff-hanger it still left me wanting more. Alex and Angel's journey is far from over and I can't wait to see what's going to happen next. Spring cannot come quick enough.

I really enjoyed this book. It is the first book I've read by Kahlen Aymes, but it will not be the last. This book had a lot of twists and turns that keep you involved and wanting and needing to know what is going to happen next. I loved Alex and Angel, both are very likeable main characters. There is definitely a lot of sexual attraction and an instant connection between the two but they take things slow and dont try to rush the relationship, which is a nice change of pace compared to other books. The main characters are also a little older p around 30, and know who they are and where they are going professionally in life.
Angel is a clinical psychologist and also hosts a late night once a week radio show, giving advice and listening to confessions. She was hurt in the past and does not do emotional relationships.
Alex is a rich CEO who also doesn't do relationships. However I wouldn't classify him as a player either. He gets involved in monogamous sexual relationships void of any emotional attachments.
Sparks fly both times Alex and Angel meet each other (you'll have to read to understand what Im talking about here). Alex and Angel have so much in common and are comfortable with each other, they have great conversations and both take it just as well as they dish it out. There is lots of playful, funny banter. However, both are fighting their true feelings for each other because they are both scared.
Angel was my favorite character because she is a strong female that did not fall all over Alex. She held her own and if anything Alex was the one falling. Not only were the main characters
Engaging but the secondary characters are just as entertaining. Darrin, Alex's best friend and Angels boss at the radio station, and Becca, Angels best friend and single mother to Jillybean(loved her so cute, Anga and Zanda) I can see a love connection there and am rooting for them to get together!!
This isn't just a romance but there is suspense involved too. A certain case Angel is working on is turning out to be dangerous, to not only her but to Alex too. We will wait to see how that will play out and to see of Alex and Angel will just give in and let there true feelings show because the book is left open. There isn't a huge I don't know how I'll survive without knowing what will happen cliffhanger but there are definetly a lot of questions left to be answered and I can't wait to find out those answers! I need more and would highly recommend this book.

If this book has not been added to anyone's "to be read" shelf. Stop and add to your shelf NOW! I just LOVE the chemistry between Angel & Alex! Both have assertive personalities and just have this draw to one another that they can't avoid. Jillybean is so adorable I just want to eat her up through the pages! Hurry and start on this book...a book that I don't regret picking up at all! Bring on Confessions!! Spring 2014 here yet???

Where she hosts "Angel After Dark" providing relationship advice for people that call into the radio station to confess or even to seek relationship advice. One night a woman calls into the the radio station seeking advice regarding her relationship. A woman named Whitney, says that she feels that the man she is seeing makes her feel that he is using her as a doormat for sex. Angel advises Whitney to tell this guy what she wants from this man and to "take back her power." If he's checked out of the relationship then to consider her options.
In comes Alexander Avery, the corporate successful business man. Confident in his place in life with looks and personality, that would just melt your panties right off! Alex hears about Angel giving advice that affects his love life. This angers him to a level that he wants her to hear his side of the story. Alex ends up contacting the radio station speaking with Angel and they come head to head!
Alex & Angel end up meeting. They have an attraction to one another, that neither one of them can avoid as much as they both try. Alex experiences new feelings that he's not use to, but just can't stay away from Angel and wanting "more". Angel can't help but be cautious of Alex (since Alex fits the stereotype of the successful playboy). The entire time I'm just thinking "Just get together and have a relationship!! Ignore the doubts and go for it!!" I couldn't get enough of these two and they keep me wanting more...
Kahlen has really done it again. I've read Remembrance Trilogy. Emotionally moving as well. I personally can't help but feel emotionally connected and want a love like Ryan & Julia's. Angel After Dark was the type of romance that was down and dirty and holy HOT ALPHA!! "It's a fight to the mattress..." and do I wish I was the one in it! Excuse me while I take a cold shower now...

I'm spitting feathers because this book doesn't finish the story, and boy was I enjoying it. It started off with some great humour, in fact within two pages I was laughing my head off.
"More and more, she concluded men were just a necessary appliance, that to her chagrin, were needed every once in a while."
"Men were messy, self-obsessed creatures,"
As you can see Angel doesn't do relationships, she's just in it for the sex and emotions are left out.
Alex doesn't do relationships either, he has monogamous sex but doesn't let his feelings get involved.
Boy do the sparks fly when these two get together, there's a great sexual chemistry written between the two of them. As if that wasn't enough there's a really intriguing suspense tale bring woven to the book. Angel is under threat, but not taking it seriously, and Alex finds out enough to make him worried.
Throw in some great side characters, a gutsy best friend with an adorable two year old daughter, a cute Labrador called Max, a lazy older brother who just might find his calling, and a best friend who set up Angel and Alex and might just end up with the other best friend (or is that my wishful thinking).
Angel is a brilliantly written character, and the more you find out about her the more you love her and want her to have a happy after with Alex. He'll be good for her.
But... The book ends and you don't know what will happen.
As much as I detest endings like this I really did enjoy this book and can't wait for the next book in the series.

OMG….. Kahlen you have out done yourself. The first time they meet is brief but leaves them both dreaming of the intrigue contact. Alex is not interested in committed relation. A friend with benefits is all he has time for. Angel has trust issue. When they see each other again the electrify connect is undeniable. Angel does not want to be another women on his list of Friends with benefits. Alex just wants t o get to know her better. A LOT BETTER. This story got me from the 1st chapter and never let me go. This book will take you on a ride that you never want to get off, all you will be begging for more……

Let me start by saying that I couldn't put this book down! I think it's one that should be added to your TBR list, if you haven't already. Loved the storyline and loved the characters. Angel is a strong female lead and Alex..well..Alex is..yeah you should read and find out for yourself ;) I'm already counting the days until the second instalment is released!

Mr. Alexander Avery AKA Alex is a successful, HOT, corporate executive who doesn’t really believe in love. He values privacy in his life, most especially in his relationships. So when Whitney, his current girlfriend-of-convenience called and whined in Angel’s show – he decided to give her a piece of his mind and demanded to give his side of the story.
When they finally met, sparks were all over the place. No one was backing out, they were in for the battle of their lives – battle for control, and for the safety of their hearts.
The first time their eyes meet – there was already something between them. Thanks to his best friend, he finally met the girl who had been in his mind for a while. Angel was not just beautiful, she was smart too. I love her conviction, her determination and her passion for work. She didn’t let threats scare her to seek out for truth. But when it comes to risking her heart, she got scared. Especially when she was risking it with a player. She had been burnt before, and she vows never to be in the same place again. But how can she fight the chemistry between them, when each time they were in the same room – both of them are ready to explode?
Alex – he was persistent. He gets what he wants and he wanted Angel. But not just for a short-time, he was willing to prove to her he was in for the long haul. Problem is that, she didn’t seem to believe him. She was busy guarding her heart, while he was subtly offering his.
I wonder who’s going to lose first. Both of them have powerful personalities and don’t have a good relationship with defeat. It was fun watching them dance around the overflowing sexual tension ever since their eyes met at the home depot – it didn’t help when his best friend had purposely set them up to finally meet in person.

It was so HOT I think my sheets are burning…
Problem is, she was in danger because of her work. She didn’t like getting scared, and often deny that she needed protection. He wanted her protected. He would do anything to keep her safe, even if it means collecting information behind her back…
The ending –
I can’t believe she ended it that way!!! Argh. What a cliffhanger!!!! I wasn’t really expecting that, I wanted to know what will happen to the both of them, who is their enemy, will they finally give in into their emotions?? Yay. I guess I have to wait for the next book in the series!

I know I'm late to this party, but I enjoyed Angel and Alex. I think I enjoyed their banter and teasing the most. They are both intelligent characters who enjoy a mental as well as physical challenge. I can't wait to read more.

Angel After Dark by Kahlen Aymes 1st in a series. Adult Contemporary
Angel After Dark" target="_blank">Angel After Dark by Kahlen Aymes was a very unique read. Angel is a very strong character and the voice of a late-night radio show about relationships. Her day job is a very stressful one, psychological criminal profiling. It was a pleasure to read about this strong, independent, super smart woman.
Alex is absolutely gorgeous and successful and can have any woman he wants. He isn't a man-whore, but he goes from one long-term fuck buddy to another, never letting his heart get involved.
When the two spot each other at a Home Depot, sparks fly, but they never make a connection. Alex's best friend Darian is a radio producer who just happens to run the late-night talk show that Angel hosts. Darian has been teasing Alex about this gorgeous woman he has working there, but Alex takes no interest until he finds out that his current fuck buddy called the show, and Angel gave her advice to dump him. When Alex finally listens to the show and gets a partial picture of Angel, his curiosity is more than piqued.
"Alex was stimulated beyond belief, vowing that after they met, if he wanted her, he'd have her. She fascinated him in many ways. She was beautiful from what he'd seen, but it was her intellect and sense of humor that drove his desire. He wanted to know if she was as sexy as she sounded; if the incredible confidence she exuded would carry over into the bedroom. His dick twitched at the thought."
When they finally meet officially, boom! the sparks fly, as well as the banter.
"The pull between them was tangible and she was certain that if the eye contact and body language was anything to go on, Alex felt every bit as strongly as she did."
I liked that there was no rush in this book, in fact, the first date isn't until about the 50% mark. But you sure feel the build up. Sidenote here...I loved Becca, Angel's best friend.
"I bet his, uh, junk is effing perfect, too. Mmmmmmmmm."
"It's likely he's a sex god. I bet he makes women come just by breathing on them."
"The man's a genius and he's gorge. Now if his peen measures up, I'll have to kill myself."
Angel is afraid to feel too much and get hurt. Alex has a reputation, and he never lets women get close. So despite her growing feelings, she holds back to protect her heart. But Alex won't let her. When she mentions she is afraid to turn into his ex, he makes it clear she is so much more.
"You're nothing like her. I didn't give her a second thought. But you? You're all I fucking think about! Everything I never knew I wanted."
They keep fighting their feelings, knowing that if they let themselves, they might lose themselves. But they can't help it.
"I am completely out of control with you. I'm lost somewhere in your eyes, your arms, your body, your mind. Lost."
"What happens when I give to you? Or when I take from you? Will you consume me body and soul? I can't escape you."
When danger comes knocking, it was such a pleasure to see a woman who is so strong immediately ask for help instead of trying to go it alone.

No stupidity from either character.
Dislikes:
Third person. I just never had as deep of a connection as I wanted.
A happy for now ending that was a little bit cliffy. There is definitely more to this story.

I really enjoyed Angel After Dark. There was a totally hot as hell alpha, a smart, independent heroine, tons of banter, great comic relief, and some danger and excitement thrown in. These are all the things I love in a book. I look forward to reading more from Kahlen.
