5 BROKEN STARS.

description

Breach is a heartbreaking, soul searching story of two broken hearts that face trials and pain when their lives collide. The story is a cocktail of passion, angst and two tortured souls attempting to fit together.

Dissolution, is a novella told from the point of view of Nathan, our hero from 'Breach'. These twenty plus pages are a window into his mind and heart and show his thoughts and feelings as we see their rocky relationship come to blows at the end of 'Breach'.

description

The author delivers a beautiful, but painful insight into Nathan's heartache, this is a must read addition that left me even more desperate for book two in the series. If you have yet to read this series I would recommend it to those that like a darker more heartbreaking love story. The writing is both engaging and passionate and I'm sure I'll be picking up whatever this author releases in the future. I was blown away that in such a short time the author managed to draw up so many emotions from my reading time, I was left a little bereft, but I am hoping for some peace to come to these two characters that I have fallen for in book two.

description

As a warning, the author covers topics of bereavement, mental health and also deals with a relationship that is fractured to the point of heartache. This may not be for all ... But for me I fell for the characters, the story and most of all my need for a happily ever after, I'm most definitely going to be chasing book two.

Go grab it readers, enjoy ... Kisses.

Lila,
I can’t do this any longer. I refuse to hurt you again. Please keep your distance, and I promise I won’t come to you anymore. We’ll act like we never happened.
Nathan

A life crashed in 4 short sentences. A love extinguished, a soul died. Lila's own worst nightmare became reality.

description

description

But what the hell happened to Nathan? What demons fought and lost and what fears did he try to hide behind submission games and dirty talk? Why did he let love and his last chance at happiness slip right through his fingers?

She deserved more, so much more than me; an angry, depressed, broken man. I couldn’t give her what she needed—love. So, I did what I had asked her to do.
I left.

description

description

In just a few pages, we get Nathan's side of the story.

His own torment and self punishment. Pain and suffering. He abused two souls. His own; because he was too scared and scarred to risk believing in the power of love again and Lila's soul. A soul that couldn't take any more beatings and just crumbled. A mind that retreated in itself to protect her from the vast amount of despair.

By the end and realising that after all his worst fear is actually a life without Lila, Nathan will have to fight the hardest battle of all. The one for forgiveness, Lila and their own much deserved happily ever after.

Her eyes met mine, and relief flooded every part of me, tears stinging at my eyes. Joy that my nightmares hadn’t come true.
I wasn’t too late. I could fix this, fix us.

I am just afraid that they do have a long and twisty road ahead....

Brilliant, emotional, heartbreaking; a not-to-be-missed novella that sheds a much needed light on the events of Breach and sets the pace for a highly anticipated second book, that I can't wait to delve into! Amazing work K.I. Lynn! Bravo!

*sigh*

This short novella was just so sad...

And heartbreaking...

And emotional...

Dissolution basically consists of the last few chapters of the first part of this series, Breach; but this time, they were told from Nathan's POV.

Reading those gut-wrenching scenes from his point of view messed with my emotions...big time.

But for those who have read and loved Breach as much as I did, this novella is an absolute must read. It provided me with a much better understanding of why Nathan handled things the way they did, even though he ended up breaking Lila's heart. Nathan and Lila are both obviously still haunted by demons of their past but I really hope they'll be able to work things through.

And now, I'm even more anxious to get my hands on the next part of the series...

It's going to be a loooong wait until the sequel comes out!

I fell in love with Nathan in Breach so I was ecstatic to read this novella and see things from his point of view. And I was most definitely not disappointed!

This beautiful but sad and broken man has my heart. His emotions are raw and intense, his pain and self-loathing is so strong that it makes me want to hug him all the time. But every person has his breaking point and events in this novella talks about Nathan's.

This may be just extra short story but it means so much for Nathan's character development. In Dissolution you will witness his total despair, breakdown and realization of his true feelings. You may read it within an hour but emotions from this novella will stay with you for much longer.

This is a must read for all fans of Breach series! It made me love Nathan even more. Thank you K.I. Lynn for sharing this novella with us!

5 Touching Stars!

Its amazing how this short novella cut you so deep- Its intense, sad, heartbreaking.

Lila,
I can’t do this any longer. I refuse to hurt you again. Please keep your distance, and I promise I won’t come to you anymore. We’ll act like we never happened.
Nathan

Nathan's POV from the night he ended things with Lila..

The Night old memories resurfaced and pulled him back- Lila should be happy, that's what he keeps telling himself, he did the right thing, didn't he?

"It was difficult to look at her, knowing I’d done that to my Lila, but it had to be that way. Didn’t it?"

That's what he keeps asking himself.

"My depression and anxiety spiked, and I craved her more than I ever had before. I needed her."

Nathan is a wreck, physically and mentally, he wants Lila...

"I was a mess and it was my own fault. We could have been together, there were ways."
"But there was no thinking on that day, only pain. It was for the best…for her."

We get little snippets from his past confirming what we all thought-->Nathan is a very broken man.

"My chest clenched, and I rubbed the spot with firm pressure. A familiar pain was flooding in, and once again it was all my fault."

When he sees what happens to Lila, he blames himself- he knew she was broken too- but atleast she was alive.

This book answered some very important pieces which I was really confused about when Breach ended.

At the end, when Nathan is so close to loosing Lila, he realises- the only person he is running from..... Himself...

"I wasn’t too late. I could fix this, fix us ."

Well done to K.I.Lynn for writing this novella so well!!

Don't get me wrong...I loved all the emotional drama and the angst and it was definitely expected. But where was the SEX SCENE??? I wanted in dirty talker Nathan's head especially during that!!

I do have to say that for what we got...it was interesting and I liked the new information we got from Nathan.

5 Emotional and Broken Stars

A broken and damaged man... they are my favorite. When I read ‘Breach’, I loved Nathan and Lyla so much. If you haven’t read it yet, well, not only was it the sexiest/hottest story I’ve read this year, it was also beautiful, intense, and an all around favorite of mine. In this little gem of a novella, we get the last three heartbreaking chapters of ‘Breach’ from Nathan’s pov.
She deserved more, so much more than me; an angry, depressed, broken man. I couldn’t give her what she needed- love. So, I did what I had asked her to do.
I left.

Nathan is broken. Destroyed. Tortured for most of this story. It took me less than an hour to read, but it had such a big impact on me. I cried for the most of it... it just ripped me to shreds.

I have been waiting for book two to come out, and it was nice to have this to hold me over. I actually feel a little better about the next book now that I know where both characters heads were at in the end of ‘Breach’. A must read for all of us that read and loved Breach!

Get the restraining order ready! Shit is about to get crazy, (okay a little more crazier than it's already gotten). K.I. Lynn....

Was that seriously just three chapters? That was magnificent.

A. Work. Of. Fucking. Art.

If you thought you figured our Nathan Thorne out in Breach, you have not even begun to dig beneath the surface of this man. I fell in lust with that filthy mouth of his but I think I just fell in love with this shattered and broken down man.

Inner dialogue at it's best.
Say 'ello to my little friend...

We can give her what is best, what she deserves. We used to be that man, we can be him again.

If you have read Breach you will love this book! This book is very short only 40min. (Or that is what my Kindle said)

This book is the last 2/3 chapters of Nathan's POV from Breach and how he ended up THERE (haha ok you will know what I'm talking about if you've read the first book) I don't want to give it away for the others that haven't read the first book ;)

I am looking forward to the second book that is coming out in September to find out what will happened between Lila and Nathan. But I'm happy that I finally found out HOW he got 'there' because haha!

Hope u will enjoy the book as much as I did xxx

Well this was a fast read. I am going to give it four stars; but certainly not because the writing wasn't good. I am just disappointed with the length of the novella rather than the content.

It was a treat to find out that I would get to have a taste of Nathan's POV. I was most definitely happy to get some insight on why Nathan left Delilah, and what he went through after he did the deed. Not that I am sadistic or anything; but I was somewhat relieved to find out that he was having just as much difficulty as Lila was with their separation. This novella helped add a glimpse into Nathan's past, and I was able to empathize and understand where he was coming from with his fears.

Dissolution is very short; but it doesn't lack in the emotion department. It is gripping and very very sad. It would have been nice to have more of Nathan's POV, especially some of the sex scenes would have a welcome addition in the few paragraph's that were offered. I can never get enough of Mr. Nathan's dirty sex talk, and I would love to know what goes on in that perverted mind of his!

Even though it was short, I am glad I read it. If anything I at least understand a bit more of what Nathan was thinking when he took those drastic measures to be "noble" and leave Delilah.
Moving on, I am off to read Book two of this series right away. After the cliffhanger in book one; I can't wait to crack open #2!

This is a novella that takes place after the break up. It is from Nathan's POV & gives us more insight into what Nathan is thinking and feeling. We also learn a little more about Nathan's past & why he is so damaged.

-"Oh, God, what have I done?"

-My feelings for her had become so strong.

-As I laid there, I realized it was the first night in months that Lila wasn't next to me in bed.

-No good morning kisses. No morning sex with my goddess. No sweet smiles from my honeybear.

-She deserved more, so much more than me; an angry, depressed, broken man.

-She deserves to be happy and loved.

-I wanted to feel her in my arms. Just...feel her. Lila, my Lila.

Spoiler alert. If you have read Breach, stop reading NOW. This is the mother of all spoiler reviews.

Well, that story went from 0 to 60 in 2.5 milliseconds! Why oh why did we not get dual POVs in Breach? This book was awesome!

This book is entirely in Nathan's POV. It starts at the point in Breach when they break up. I needed this, needed to be in his head to understand why he did what he did. I totally "get him" now. But Lordy be...

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

To listen to his inner monologue was torturous!

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I've come to the conclusion, in 90% of books I prefer the male POV. I'm just more empathetic to his emotional battles than Lila's.

When Nathan writes Lila a letter with four short sentences her world crashes to pieces. He thought he was saving her, but instead he crucified her.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Dissolution gives us the answers we need that was hinted on in Breach. Why is Nathan scarred physically? Emotionally? What happened while he was a prosecuting attorney that made him move to Indianapolis? What's with the meds, the nightmares? We now know what haunts him, what happened that faithful birthday four years ago. We don't get all the specifics but enough to get us through.....enough to empathize as to why he did what he did to Lila.

My depression and anxiety spiked, and I craved her more than I ever had before. I needed her."

Oh..My..God!
5 Heart Rending Stars!

If you haven't read book 1 which is Breach you better get reading!

I think I just died a little inside! This short novella caused an uproar of emotion in me..Oh Nathan!Reading this made me fall for Nathan even more than before he is such a tortured soul and you just want him to be happy again!

This is just what I needed after reading Breach which is in Lila's POV you dont really understand Nathan and we dont know much about his past and what happened to him..

"I wouldn’t let what happened to her happen to Lila. I couldn’t. Lila would live. Lila would meet someone worthy and start a family. Lila would be happy.
But not with me.
A sob erupted from my chest, startling me."

This novella was brilliant, it built Nathans character and gave us an insight to what he was going through..And it was heart breaking! Nathan has a lot of demons he has to fight on a daily basis.Lila is the same as Nathan, they are both tortured souls with a fucked up pasts. They understand and need each other but Nathan let her go and now everything is worse than before..

Oh Nathan!

When the hell is book 2 being released bacause I need it.. right about NOW!

This is a short story under Nathan’s POV (did I ever told you how I like so much more male pov’s??)
This happens between the time Nathan left Lila, thinking it was the best for her and the end of the book. (That damn end!)

We get to know more about Nathan’s past and understanding why is he so broken and also understanding some of his actions. And God, he is a broken man!
A extremely hot broken man.

He sighed. “Why are you sitting out here? If you came this far, why don’t you go in and see her? She knows you’re here, after all.”
My head snapped up. “She’s awake?”
I watched Darren turn to look at me, a sad smile on his lips. “No, not yet.”
“Then how do you know she knows?”
“Her heart rate’s been steady all day. It picked up about fifteen minutes ago,” he said, then quirked his brow. “How long have you been sitting out here?”
I stared up at him in wide-eyed shock. “About fifteen minutes.”
“That’s what I thought.”

And speaking of Nathan ....

This is what you need to know, Breach is book #1, Dissolution is Nathans pov of the last few chapters of Breach and K.I is a fucking genius..You go into this book knowing its Nathans pov but when you are done with it you are left shaking your head because this book does not feel like a POV book.K.I gives you this look into Nathan that rips your fucking heart out, makes you hold your breath knowing there is not enough oxygen left to revive you from this read. This book that takes under an hour to read leaves your heart beating so fast you are wondering why you will ever read a series another day in your life.It makes you feel, hurt and live the pain of the characters in so much depth that it feels like its real life. This is why i read books for this feeling that i experienced while reading Breach knowing that it will never be this again until you read her 1.5 and sit back waiting for something to go wrong but it doesnt, it just keeps getting better, that is what you get with this author a pure fucking masterpiece.

Jenny: I was chomping at the bit to read this and garner some sort of insight into what was going through Nathan’s head in Breach. Well, in Dissolution so much clicked into place. Albeit, in a very painful way. For a short story this sure did pack a punch.

I felt inexplicably drawn to Nathan and his internal conflict and boy was he ever conflicted! From Breach we knew Nathan was a troubled individual. He was intense, prone to mood swings and though you experienced through Lila how unpredictable he could be, nothing could prepare you for the intensity you would experience in hearing from Nathan exactly what was going through his mind at that time.

“Across a sea of asphalt and cars, was where I caught my first glimpse of the woman who would do the impossible and awaken a long dead part of me.”

Dissolution leaves you with NO doubt. This man is troubled and he has suffered. In fact he has suffered a great deal and he is still suffering. What this short story lacks in length, it most certainly makes up in emotion and grit. No we don’t get the hot, raw sex that was so much a part of Breach and it’s not needed because what we got instead was a detailed insight into Nathan and his feelings for Lila and why he acted the way he did. The author has lent Nathan a potent voice, making this book a must read for fans of Breach.

“Because I was angry at her for making me feel for her.”

This was a short but powerful read. It was an intense, painful and heartbreaking read about a man who is so torn apart by tragedy, so conflicted in his feelings your heart will ache for him. Nathan indeed had some questionable behaviour in Breach. Well, a lot of it is explained in Dissolution. Bring on Infraction I say! What about you Gitte? How did you find Nathan’s voice in this book?

Gitte: I literally hurt through the whole short story; the pain in my heart was overwhelming. Nathan’s voice is incredibly broken and oh so very dark and twisted.

Yes, absolutely we knew Nathan had a lot of issues, but to hear his voice, getting into his head, just wow. This man is INTENSE!!! He’s been through some real gut wrenching trauma that has without a doubt cut him so deep without a chance of healing. So far…..

“We can give her what is best, what she deserves. We used to be that man, we can be him again.”

I have to say that this Author has, through such a short story, managed to achieve something brilliant. Her words pack a punch and leave you breathless and gobsmacked from the pure emotional and harrowing scenes depicted so effortlessly. The impact is instant. It’s hard hitting and makes me desperate for Infraction, book #3!!

**If you haven't read Breach, this review may contain slight spoilers.**

"She deserved so much more, so much more than me; an angry, depressed, broken man. I couldn't give her what she needed- love."

K.I. Lynn What have you done to me? Never have I experienced such feelings from reading a novella. This book (mini-book?) was sad, intense, heartbreaking, and emotional. Nathan is completely broken after he leaves Lila. I had no idea when I read Breach that Nathan took the break up that hard.
"Everyday was the same; a spiral down to hell."
He's a complete wreck and barely gets through his everyday life. He blames himself for what happens to Lila, and even though he wants nothing more than to be with her, he continues to hold back. We learn bits and pieces about Nathan past and I gobbled up these tidbits. This man is such a mystery, I just want to untangle the knots and unravel all his secrets. This novella occurs at the end of Breach, so there were no love scenes, but for me this was the most intense part of the book. I felt like I was racing down the highway and each scene flashed by so quickly until it all came to the *gasp* climax.

At the beginning of the book I was:

**** NEW COVER ALERT ****

Oh thank GOD I read this!! I needed answers!!

This short but essential novella (30 pages) retells the story from the last 3 chapters of Breach from Nathan's POV and trust me, at the end of Breach, you will be dyyyyying for this!!

I was desperate for any tidbits I could get that would shine more light on this enigmatic, tortured character and while everything isn't revealed in full, there are certainly some revelations in here that confirmed many of my suspicions about what his back story was.

This also really served to fully make you understand the sheer depths of this man's pain. It was just heart wrenching. I felt for him and finally was able to understand him more. Truly such a broken man. Shattered into two parts. Aching to be whole again.

I read this in literally just a few minutes but felt that it gave a much needed sense of completion after Breach, a bit more of an understanding and most importantly, it gave me hope.

Ok, on to book #2, Infraction!
