A Ray of Hope

Rate this book
Micah Cooper, an EMT in New York City, was no stranger to thinking fast and acting faster. His life was a continuous loop of spontaneous decisions. Everything was a matter of life or death in his line of work. He lived for the thrill, and loved the ability to help those in need.

Being the son of a well renowned surgeon, Micah was well educated in the life of a medical professional. He had seen everything, or at least he thought he had. But when the planes crashed into the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, Micah realized he hadn’t seen it all. In a single moment, he lost his ability to think. Trapped inside the south tower was his wife, Hope.

Hope was Micah’s world, his sunshine, and when the towers collapsed, so did his heart. He watched, along with the world, as the heart of America went down in dust and flames. Through the chaos and devastation, Micah only had one mission, to find Hope.

By his side, through the madness, was his trusted partner and friend, Zachary Pearce. Together, they raced against time and destruction to save Hope. In the midst of tragedy, discouraged that all might be lost, Micah holds on to a ray of hope that his wife will be found.

Deep down I know she's alive. I know my heart will stop beating the moment hers does, so there's no doubt in my mind that my sunshine is thriving.

OMG !! i cant take this !

The ending was soooo sooo sad ! I mean like SOSOSOSOSOSOOS *sob* bloody sad ! :'(

I loved this book a lot, i mean like enough to get it into my Favourites shelf....being a Med student myself ,i cant even begin to comprehend the height of destruction that would have taken place that day, with sooo many casualties coming in.And i cant even imagine how i could have survived knowing...my loved one was in that building as well.

So the only reason i gave this a 4 instead of a 5 was because i didnt care much for the H/h's back story.....and the fact that this book WAS SO BLOODY SHORT !!!!! :/ I mean thats just !

but regardless...i cant regret reading this book at all...i adore the characters n the plot ! :) ♥

RECOMMENDATION :Recommended to all angst and short novella readers ! this book will get u all misty eyed ! ♥ i promise :')

You will need a box of Kleenex while reading this novella. I bawled like a baby during a few parts. But it is more than worth it! Author Jeanne McDonald takes us on a beautiful love story starting the morning of September 11, 2001. I absolutely adored this story and everything about it. Her main character Micah won my heart.

Micah Cooper a New York City EMT who lives for the action that happens during the late night hours. For Micah as long as he has his sunshine his heart and soul, Hope Cooper anything is possible. The chaos fuels him during the night and his Sunshine calms in during the day. Micah and Sunny live the love story everyone dreams about. They are it for each other.

Hope Cooper “Sunny” just happens to work in the South World Trade Center. She text Micah when something happens at the north tower. My heart absolutely crumbled when Micah realizes Sunny’s tower was struck by a plane as well. Micah’s entire world spins out of control. Watching Micah process that his wife needs him and he cannot get to her was heart wrenching.

This man will move through hell and high water to find his wife in the fallen rubble. He keeps sane by saving one person at a time and not giving up hope. The way Micah processes everything and fights with anyone who does not believe he will find his wife made my heart swell and tears roll down my cheeks.

I just loved him so much!

This story is very fast paced and keeps you right there with Micah as he searches for his wife. I hope you will all give this story a chance. You won’t be disappointed.

Everyone can remember where they were when they heard about the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York. I know I do because I was working for a company that dealt with operator calls to countries all over the world, including the US.

I actually finished reading this yesterday, and I had completely lost track of dates, so when I realised what date it is today, this story became even more powerful than it already is.

Micah and Zach - I love those guys. They are real men's men who love their jobs and their wives. Each relationship is established at the beginning of the story, but through flashbacks we see how these party animals find love and the women who have moulded who they are.

Without giving too much away, their friendship is tested during the awful events at the World Trade Centre as Micah is desperate to find Hope, whilst Zach tries to keep them both safe, and sane.

McDonald made me cry with this book. Sad tears and happy tears ruined my face, but I couldn't care less. This is a story I could read again and still have the same reaction. She deals with the situation with sensitivity and class. Not once does anything feel forced and gratuitous. I adore this author's work, and this novella has cemented it.

The events of 9/11 changed the world, no matter where you where, I'm sure everyone remembers what you did on that day. For me was a day I had a college exam, I've woken up at 3 am to study (my normal study time, in case you wondered, I wasn't ever able to study during regular day time). After I was done I decided to turn on the tv and watch the morning news as I got ready. The exam wasn't until 11 am (Central Time) so I watched everything as it happened. I still have my exam as I don't live in the US. But we where all shocked about everything.

This story reminds us of some of the many stories of that day. One where hope was present and the only thing that kept most people from collapsing as well.

Even though it is a novella, it is enough for the reader to fall in love with the characters and their story. We all know there wasn't a HEA for everyone in 9/11, but there where a few miracles that showed us that you should never loose hope or take things for granted.

Give this story a chance to show you a story that could've been true for any hero of the NY-EMT brigade.

I was so excited to get a Gchat from a really good friend the other day

asking if I would read a book for her if she gave me the Kindle version of it.

I said “Sure!” So not long after, she sent it to me. I loaded it up on Monday

and began reading it. Let me tell you what…if it wasn't

for the fact that I had an eye appointment and had to stop to make dinner, I

would've finished this book in one day!

The story is about a guy named Micah Cooper who happens to meet the

love of his life, who he calls Sunny,on his twenty-first birthday. Micah

happens to be an EMT in New York City. Without giving too much away,

tragedy strikes and this story is the telling of said tragedy from Micah’s point

of view and the reliving of how he and his wife met. It really is a great read and

a fast one as well. Just…make sure you keep the tissues handy when you

read it. So go out and find A Ray Of Hope By Jeanne McDonald. You wont

regret it!

This book is a beautiful novel and much too short for my liking! Each of the characters were so endearing, and I could picture each of them in my head as a read through it (in one sitting!). Amongst the love story was desperation; I was on the edge of my seat and holding onto hope for all of them. This story takes you on a roller coaster of emotions and is 100% worth the ride. I highly recommend Jeanne's wonderful novel to anyone who enjoys a well-written, genuine story about love, fear, loss, and grief. Beautiful!

From the moment Alexis dreamt about Ryan giving her the little toy compass when they were in high school, I was hooked on their story. When he said: “It’s a compass. Keep it with you always. In those moments when you feel lost, alone, or confused, pull it out and let yourself remember. Let this compass lead you back home. Let it lead you back to me. Forever and always, okay?” I knew there was no way they could be apart. But, fifteen years have passed, and these two school sweethearts have followed different paths that have taken them miles away from each other.

Through some trials and tribulations, Ryan and Alexis grapple with some of their life choices. When Alexis makes a huge career move, she lands right in Ryan’s backyard, literally. Watching them reconnect after so many years is heartwarming. There is just something about that “first” love that always stays in your heart. And, sometimes, you get to reclaim it forever. This is a wonderful story of how these two come to accept things in their pasts and find each other, and love, again.

Jeanne writes such compelling characters who will stay with you for a long time. From the moment I was introduced to Ryan and Alexis until the very end, I was rooting for them to vanquish their doubts and realize they never stopped loving each other, no matter how much time had passed.
